Touya Yaoyao

Chapter 51 The Royal Family of Zhao Kingdom

This is the fourth day since I went to look at the land with Bai Taoshi and Wang Yao. The reason I mention today is because the day before yesterday, or the day before that, Bai Taoshi suddenly asked Yu Yaoyao a question:

What are you planning to do here?!

Yu Yaoyao had assumed he was still sulking about the three days of neglect following the fire in the European section, so when he suddenly asked about it, she could only stare at him in astonishment and explain to herself:

"I plan to build a huge film studio here. That way, all the filming locations will be concentrated here, and we won't have to travel all over the place."

Seeing her serious expression, Shirato frowned and pressed her for an answer:

"Then go to the Land and Resources Management Office, the Planning and Resources Management Office, and the Urban Environment Office..."

He rambled on and on, basically saying that if they wanted to build a film and television city here, they would have to overcome many obstacles.

These things were completely unexpected for Yu Yaoyao. She thought setting up a film and television city would be simple, but now it seems so complicated, requiring approvals and stamps from various departments, as well as plans, proposals, proof of main uses, sketches, and so on.

Yu Yaoyao was overwhelmed by what she was hearing, and her brows furrowed involuntarily. Bai Taoshi, seeing her pained expression, knew that she had absolutely no experience.

That makes sense; this girl has never been exposed to these things, so naturally she wouldn't know. Therefore, he looked at Yan Wenmo, sighed helplessly, and said with almost indulgent affection:

"Prepare your household registration booklet, ID card, land transfer contract, and design drawings. I'll go with you tomorrow, okay?"

Yu Yaoyao subconsciously looked at Wang Yao beside her. Almost the instant she saw him, Wang Yao immediately took a step back and waved his hands repeatedly. Yu Yaoyao couldn't help but twitch her lips and roll her eyes.

These researchers are unreliable at crucial moments. With no other option, she had to agree to go with Bai Taoshi.

Seeing that she agreed, Bai Taoshi's expression softened for a moment, then he looked at the overgrown, dilapidated land and asked, seemingly casually:

"You want to film a TV series?! Or a movie?! How about I be the lead actor for you for free?!"

He spoke with remarkable composure, but Yu Yaoyao was utterly shocked. She was astonished by his high level of acceptance; after all, shouldn't an ordinary person, upon hearing this news, ask her why a music prodigy would choose to work in film?

But he didn't seem to have any doubts about this, and even thought about becoming his own free bodyguard.

Although Yu Yaoyao is a stingy person who would rather not take advantage of a bargain, she still chose to refuse the huge windfall that the movie star offered her for free!

Don't think she doesn't know. This guy just wants to use his role in the film crew to create trouble for himself. She dares to say that if Bai Taoshi joins her film crew today, then there won't be a single unfamiliar male within a ten-mile radius of her, let alone within a one-mile radius. He won't even be surnamed Bai.

Seeing that Yu Yaoyao didn't agree, Bai Taoshi couldn't help but frown, lowered his voice, and looked at Yu Yaoyao with displeasure, coldly snorting:

"What?! You look down on me?! Or do you think my box office appeal isn't enough?"

Yu Yaoyao glanced at him and said irritably:

"I set up the film studio to rent it out for money, not to make movies myself. I've never studied directing, so what kind of movies would I make!"

Bai Taoshi was speechless after hearing what she said, so she simply turned her head away and ignored her. Yu Yaoyao was also too lazy to pay attention to Bai Taoshi, and was thinking about the planning of this land.

Finally, after a busy night, she finished drawing the sketches and design, and even hastily prepared some necessary materials. Then, amidst Shirato Shirato's incessant phone calls, she slowly went downstairs and got into his car.

For some reason, Bai Taoshi preferred mature, stable, and elegant models suitable for civil servants, which looked extremely low-key and reserved. Over the years, Yu Yaoyao had also gotten used to his understated nature and would start catching up on sleep as soon as she got in the car.

She didn't sleep a wink last night to catch up on her data, so she'll take a short rest now before we arrive at our destination.

Bai Taoshi originally wanted to discuss with Yu Yaoyao what style her film and television city would be, how long it would take to build, and how much funding it would require, but to his surprise, she started sleeping as soon as she got in the car and had no intention of chatting with him at all.

Looking at the other person sleeping soundly without any guard up, Shirato sighed softly with a hint of resentment. She subconsciously told the driver to slow down and then covered the other person with the thin blanket she had been using to catch up on her sleep in the car.

Yu Yaoyao was fast asleep. She was woken up by Bai Taoshi after arriving at her destination. She subconsciously wiped away non-existent drool, yawned, stretched, and entered the Land Resources Administration Bureau.

Upon entering the Administration Bureau, all that could be seen was a disoriented crowd and a cacophony of voices. Bai Taoshi settled Yu Yaoyao in the nearby lounge, while he busied himself helping her collect documents and contracts.

He spent about half an hour busy with these things before carrying a thick stack of papers into the lounge for Yu Yaoyao to sign.

Looking at the pile of papers in front of her, Yu Yaoyao sighed subconsciously and resignedly began to read the contents and related information.

Zhaoguo doesn't have very strict regulations on building houses, especially since Yu Yaoyao is building a film and television city that's similar to a commercial street. The resource management department is always generous about things like attracting investment.

Yu Yaoyao glanced at the building height, area, and green space limits, and then subconsciously recalled her design drawings. Feeling that they met the requirements, she signed them without hesitation and attached the design drawings.

Logically, there should be a response within two days at most, but this time Yu Yaoyao had been looking forward to it for a long time without any news, which made her wonder if the matter had fallen through.

Because she hadn't received a reply for a long time, Yu Yaoyao thought her plan might have fallen through. But then, just three days after submitting the drawings, which was today, someone knocked on her door at just past nine o'clock.

Ye Zhuozhuo has been busy attracting investment lately and has no time to pay attention to Yu Yaoyao. Ye Shiqi has been busy going to other places to look at sources of goods and has no time to pay attention to Yu Yaoyao either. So Yu Yaoyao wisely went back to her little nest and continued her life as a homebody.

She was just lamenting that all her hard work had gone to waste when a sudden knock on the door interrupted her lament. When she opened the door, she saw Shiro Taoya and several royal guards following behind him.

Yu Yaoyao was certain that those people were royal guards because she had seen them on television; only royal guards wore jet-black military uniforms.

Seeing Yu Yaoyao's frightened expression, Bai Taoshi glanced at her helplessly, unsure whether to find it amusing or gratifying. He spoke gently:

"Yu Yaoyao, Her Majesty saw your design drawings and is very interested in your plans, so she wants to... meet you."

At this point, he subconsciously leaned close to Yu Yaoyao's ear and whispered:

"Don't be afraid, His Majesty is a very kind person."

She had seen Zhao Hede, the emperor of the Zhao Kingdom, on television, and she had also learned about the reason why the Zhao Kingdom had an emperor in her history class.

The textbook explains that although Zhao Kingdom is a monarchy, the entire country has only one emperor. Below the emperor are the heads of the seven major regions, and then the six ministries of the same level: the Ministry of Personnel, the Ministry of Revenue, the Ministry of Rites, the Ministry of War, the Ministry of Justice, and the Ministry of Works.

However, unlike ordinary monarchies, the emperors of Zhao Kingdom are mostly elected and have little power to act arbitrarily; they are more like mascots.

It could be said that although the emperor of Zhao Kingdom seemed to hold great power, she did not have any real power.

If she wanted to arbitrarily slaughter citizens or wipe out a district, that would be impossible; the people could even vote her out of office.

However, she also possessed a powerful weapon: the personnel responsible for military supplies only recognized the Emperor of Zhao.

In other words, if people in other districts want to rebel or obtain ammunition, they need the Emperor of Zhao's permission. Even if the Emperor agrees, he will only provide enough for a few days, just to prevent anyone from rebelling.

As a result, the emperor and the people of Zhao Kingdom had a contradictory relationship of mutual supervision, wariness, and dependence. But it was this relationship that inexplicably kept Zhao Kingdom at peace for thousands of years.

Furthermore, becoming the emperor of Zhao was no easy feat. This was because Zhao's first emperor, Zhao Anping, once said the following:

"The throne of Zhao Kingdom belongs to the capable."

Therefore, most emperors of Zhao Kingdom climbed up the social ladder step by step from the lower ranks. Even if they were princes, they had to go through many tests and be chosen by the people to become their emperor. Otherwise, they could only spend their lives in certain industries run by the royal family to make a living.

However, there is also a saying that one cannot allow others to snore beside one's bed. Therefore, among the 26 emperors since the founding of the country, only 4 of them truly climbed up from the bottom, while the rest were all of the Zhao family bloodline.

Furthermore, all four emperors married daughters of the Zhao royal family; the meaning behind this action is self-evident.
