Touya Yaoyao

Chapter 102 The truth back then

Bai Taoyi stared blankly at the huge screen in front of him until the image on the screen disappeared. Then he looked at Yu Yaoyao with a surprised expression, while Yu Yaoyao frowned, as if she was thinking about something.

"In which year did the prince disappear?!"

Suddenly, Yu Yaoyao asked this question in a calm tone, as if she were mentioning a trivial matter.

Suddenly, Shiro Touya seemed to understand what she wanted to do?! He couldn't help but point at the electronic screen in astonishment and questioned:

"You think it can solve the case of the prince's disappearance back then?! Are you kidding me?!"

In response to Bai Taoshi's disbelief, Yu Yaoyao simply looked at him calmly and pressed him for an answer:

"Why not?! Can you give me a reason?!"

Bai Taoshi thought Yu Yaoyao must be crazy, because this was the first time they had stepped into this place, and the first time they had ever known that these things existed. They didn't even know if the video being played was real, and yet Yu Yaoyao actually believed in such an ethereal thing, which was simply incomprehensible.

So, Shirai Momoya pointed at the electronic screen and angrily accused:

"It's just an electronic screen, it doesn't even have a power switch, how could it possibly know things from more than ten years ago?!"

As childhood sweethearts who grew up together, Yu Yaoyao naturally knew what Bai Taoshi was thinking; he simply thought the thing was unreliable.

But they're like headless flies anyway, so why not give it a try? Maybe it'll work? After all, they have nothing better to do!

So she ignored Shiratoshi completely and continued talking to herself:

"If you don't believe me, you can leave. I'll handle the rest."

As she spoke, she took out her phone from her pocket, ready to call General Yu.

Before she could even dial, Shirato Ya, standing beside her, spoke up with a mournful and aggrieved expression:

"The fourth day of the eighth lunar month fourteen years ago"

Yu Yaoyao was taken aback by his words, and looked at Bai Taoshi with a puzzled expression. Bai Taoshi awkwardly turned his face to the side, muttering dejectedly:

"I believe you, you don't need to act like this, it makes it seem like I...like I doubt you."

Upon hearing his words, Yu Yaoyao couldn't help but twitch her lips, subconsciously rolled her eyes, and then began rummaging through the folder.

The folders were categorized in a rather varied way, but most of them were organized by year, so it didn't take Yu Yaoyao much time to find this folder.

Bai Taoshi originally thought that Yu Yaoyao would go straight to the day the prince disappeared, but strangely, she started to carefully observe from three months before the disappearance, that is, in May.

It was one thing for her to just look, but she even took out paper and pen and started writing and drawing on them, as if she were recording something.

Fourteen years ago, in May, nothing major happened in Zhao Kingdom. What happened was the Emperor of Zhao Kingdom and her husband, Bai Juncheng. Yu Yaoyao didn't know if it was just her imagination, but she felt that the Emperor's husband looked somewhat like Bai Taoshi's father.

"It must be my imagination," she thought to herself, and then continued watching.

At 3:08 PM on the ninth day of the fifth lunar month, Zhao Hede, the emperor's consort of the Zhao Kingdom, had a big fight with Bai Juncheng. The reason for the fight was rather dramatic: Bai Juncheng unexpectedly learned that Zhao Hede was willing to marry him because she could ascend the throne and become the emperor of the Zhao Kingdom after marrying him.

Not only that, before marrying him, Zhao Hede had a white moonlight that she cherished in her heart. Therefore, feeling deceived and used, Bai Juncheng couldn't bear it any longer and impulsively went to Zhao Hede to question her.

Zhao Hede was also bold and straightforward, admitting directly that she had liked someone else before, that she married Bai Juncheng for power and status, and that she was willing to sacrifice anything, including marriage and feelings, to reach this supreme position.

While Zhao Hede may be able to tolerate it, Bai Juncheng cannot. No matter what, he is one of the top young talents in Zhao State. Not only is he outstanding in appearance, but his strength is also second to none. It can be said that if he had not married Zhao Hede, the throne of Zhao State should have been his.

But you, Zhao Hede, just because you wanted to become emperor, you cheated me out of money, sex, and feelings. You said you fell in love with me at first sight, that you only loved me, and that you would give me your heart and soul as long as I was happy.

You acted so sincerely and passionately, but you fooled me so much that I lost both my money and my heart.

If you hadn't said you liked me and loved me, how could I have gone to such lengths to help you ascend to the throne and become emperor, while I worked tirelessly like a dog to smooth things over for you?

And now?! You've secured your throne, you have the kids, I don't need you anymore, and you're starting to discard me like a used tool, ready to abandon me and marry your white moonlight, right?! Ah!!!

Knowing he was in the wrong, Zhao Hede could only let Bai Juncheng vent his anger. The more Bai Juncheng thought about it, the more aggrieved and angry he felt. He felt like an abandoned puppy. In a fit of rage, he gave up and quit.

With him abandoning his post, Her Majesty the Empress had very few people left to protect her. The elders in the council were already dissatisfied with Zhao Hede's ascension to the throne, but they only reluctantly agreed because of pressure from Bai Juncheng and the Bai family behind him. Now that Zhao Hede's backer has run away, these ill-intentioned people have started to plot against her.

In order to test whether Bai Juncheng truly wanted to break ties with Zhao Hede, or whether he wanted to deprive Zhao Hede of her legitimate heir, the group from the Elder Council devised a self-defeating plan: kidnapping the prince.

The reason this method was harmful to others and not beneficial to themselves was that they had just drugged the prince, put him in a specially made storage box and taken him away, and then, upon discovering that the child was missing, Zhao Hede went on a killing spree and went completely mad.

In the dead of night, Zhao Hede directly sent men to arrest all the people in the Elders' Council and torture them severely. They weren't tortured together, but each person was placed in a room with a skilled interrogator. They would be spared once they confessed.

Zhao Hede went mad, and so did Bai Juncheng. The elders who thought they could bully Zhao Hede because of their falling out realized belatedly that no matter how much the couple broke up, they were still family. Moreover, Bai Juncheng was fiercely protective of his son. If his son was lost, the mother would be anxious, and so would the father. Therefore, before Zhao Hede's interrogation was over, Bai Juncheng's interrogation began ahead of schedule.

It must be said that the people in the Elder Council were really tough. They interrogated him for nearly half a month without revealing a single piece of information. Even after enduring all kinds of torture, he still held on. Even when he was half-dead, he gritted his teeth and said that it had nothing to do with them.

Yu Yaoyao felt that the reason they didn't say anything was twofold: first, they were afraid that Zhao Hede and Bai Juncheng would settle scores later; second, they genuinely didn't know where the kidnapper had taken the prince!

So where did the prince go?! Haha, after the prince was kidnapped from the palace by the Elders' Council, he was kidnapped a second time. Yes, you read that right, he was kidnapped twice, by two different groups of people. But for the kidnapped person, there should be no difference, since it's all kidnapping.

Whether it was good fortune or sheer luck, when the prince was kidnapped to a remote mountain valley by the second group of people, he encountered a little girl, only seven or eight years old.

Taking advantage of the moment when the kidnappers were off guard, the little girl threw a smoke bomb at them without hesitation, then grabbed the kidnapped prince and ran away.

After escaping, the little girl was somewhat adept at counter-surveillance. She made the young prince take off his original gorgeous court clothes, making him look dirty and ugly, and then took him to the city's police station to find his relatives.

As for why the city was the reason, the girl said that since the kidnappers dared to lock people up in the mountains, they must have accomplices in the mountains, and maybe the police station in town was also one of them. So, she should go to the city to report the crime, because it would be safer there.

The young prince, who knew nothing about the outside world, was persuaded by a girl his own age to scavenge for garbage for a month. After going through countless hardships, he finally arrived at the city police station, reported the crime, and then, half an hour later, successfully met his parents.

Strangely, after the young prince found his parents, the little girl who saved him disappeared. He searched for a long time but couldn't find her, and even turned the entire police station upside down, but still couldn't find her.

The scene ends with the young prince crying and looking aggrieved, clearly not understanding why his savior had suddenly disappeared and why he had left without saying goodbye!

Didn't you promise to protect me? How could you sneak away like that? You liar, you lied to me!!!
