Huanzhu Time Travel: Yan Luo's Unbreakable Love in the Yong Dynasty

Chapter 323 Exploring the Mystery of the Symbols

Fu Heng's men received their orders and hurriedly left the mansion, running to find the old hands in the martial arts world who knew the inside stories. He paid no heed to the bustling crowds on the street, muttering to himself, "We have to hurry, this matter can't be delayed!"

Before long, they arrived at a somewhat secluded courtyard. The subordinate straightened his clothes, stepped forward, knocked on the door, and called out, "Are the seniors here? Lord Fuheng invites you in!"

The door creaked open, and an elderly man with gray hair but sharp eyes poked his head out, asking with a puzzled look, "Lord Fuheng, what brings you here?"

The subordinate hurriedly clasped his hands in a salute and said anxiously, "Seniors, some strange symbols have appeared in the Imperial Garden. The master thinks they are related to the Shadow Cult. We finally found some similar patterns in the files and would like to ask you seniors to help us take a look and decipher the meaning of those symbols! We are so anxious!"

Upon hearing this, the old man's expression turned serious, and he hurriedly said, "Oh dear, what are we waiting for? Let's go, let's go!" With that, he went back into the house to call the other old men, and together they followed Fu Heng's men back.

Fu Heng paced restlessly in his study, glancing at the door every now and then, muttering, "Why haven't they arrived yet? I hope nothing goes wrong."

Just then, footsteps sounded outside, and a subordinate's voice rang out: "Sir, the seniors have arrived!"

Fu Heng hurriedly stepped forward, cupped his hands in greeting, and said, "Seniors, thank you for making this trip. The situation is truly urgent!"

The elderly man at the head of the group waved his hand. “You’re too kind, sir. The Shadow Cult has committed many evils. If we can help, that would be wonderful. Please let us see that symbol.”

Fu Heng quickly took out the paper with the symbols drawn on it and handed it to the elders. The elders huddled together, carefully examining the symbols, sometimes frowning, sometimes whispering.

After a long while, an old man slowly spoke up: "Sir, this symbol does look strange, but in my opinion, it seems to be a kind of secret code that has not appeared in the martial arts world for a long time. This part of the shape..." As he spoke, he pointed to a part of the symbol, "It seems to represent a location, but we still need to think about it more."

Another old man chimed in, "That's right, that's right. And the lines here might be hints about the timing of the action, but they're very subtle and hard to tell!"

Fu Heng frowned and said anxiously, "Seniors, this is of utmost importance! The peace of the capital depends on deciphering this symbol. Please take another look and think of a solution!"

The old men exchanged glances, then continued their study, discussing various possibilities as they looked at the exhibits.

Consort Ling sat on the couch, her face full of worry. A palace maid beside her whispered, "Your Highness, don't worry too much. The imperial physicians are still doing their best to treat that palace maid. Perhaps there will be good news soon."

Consort Ling sighed softly, shook her head, and said, "Alas, the matter of the Shadow Cult is like a dark cloud hanging over this harem. How can anyone feel at ease! I wonder if there has been any progress on Lord Fuheng's side."

Just then, a young eunuch came in to report: "Your Majesty, the Imperial Household Department has already increased the number of guards as instructed by the Empress Dowager, and the ladies of the palace have also been informed."

Consort Ling nodded and said, "Hmm, that puts me a little more at ease. Go and inquire further. If there is any news from Lord Fuheng, inform me immediately."

"Yes, Your Majesty." The young eunuch acknowledged the order and withdrew.

Lin Yuxuan was practicing with a sword in his room, chanting the moves, looking very energetic. At this moment, Lin Yuhang walked in and teased him with a smile, "Yuxuan, you're really putting in a lot of effort, but don't just look like a pro without actually doing anything."

Lin Yuxuan stopped what he was doing and said defiantly, "Brother, don't underestimate me. My skills are improving day by day! When I'm strong enough, if the Shadow Cult dares to cause trouble, I can lend a hand!"

Lin Yuhang walked over to him, patted him on the shoulder, and said, "It's good that you have this intention, but the Shadow Cult is not easy to deal with. You still need to learn more from your master and not act rashly."

Lin Yuxuan chuckled, "I know, brother. By the way, my sister has been worried about the Shadow Cult these past few days. Should we go ask her if we can help?"

Lin Yuhang nodded slightly, "Yes, that's fine. Let's go see my sister. Maybe she really needs us to do something for her." With that, the two of them walked together toward Xiao Yanzi's residence.

Little Swallow was sitting by the window, staring blankly at the scenery outside, still wondering what the symbols of the Shadow Cult meant.

Lin Yuxuan and Lin Yuhang walked in. Lin Yuxuan skipped and hopped to Xiao Yanzi and said loudly, "Sister, we're here!"

Little Swallow snapped out of her daze and said with a smile, "What brings you two here?"

Lin Yuhang said respectfully, "Sister, we heard that you are troubled by the Shadow Cult, so we thought we would like to see if we could help."

Little Swallow stood up and waved her hand helplessly, "Sigh, those Shadow Cult symbols are really too troublesome. Even Lord Fu Heng hasn't completely deciphered them yet. I'm just anxious for them."

Lin Yuxuan leaned closer and asked curiously, "Sister, what does that symbol look like? Is it particularly mysterious?"

Little Swallow smiled and gently tapped his head. "You're always so curious. Those symbols are really strange; you can't explain them in a short time."

Just then, Xiao Tao walked in from outside and said, "Miss, Sister Azhu made some snacks. Please have some. You haven't been eating properly these past few days because you've been so worried about that matter."

Little Swallow looked at Little Peach and said with a smile, "Little Peach, you're always so thoughtful. Here, I'm a little hungry."

The group gathered around the table, eating snacks and continuing to talk about the Shadow Cult, but they still had no clue whatsoever, and their faces showed a mix of helplessness and worry.

Hongzhou and Dilireyao were strolling in the garden, where the flowers were in full bloom, but Hongzhou had no interest in appreciating them.

Dilireyao took Hongzhou's arm and said softly, "Your Highness, please stop thinking about the Shadow Cult. Look how beautiful these flowers are. We rarely have such a peaceful time."

Hongzhou forced a smile and replied, "Leyao, the capital is in such a state of turmoil because of the Shadow Cult. How can I possibly feel at ease? I wonder how things are going with Lord Fuheng."

Dili Leyao frowned slightly and said, "Your Highness, the court has so many capable people, they can definitely deal with the Shadow Cult. There's no use in worrying. You might as well relax and live your lives."

Hongzhou gently patted her hand. "You're right, but if this matter isn't resolved, it will always be a hidden danger. Never mind, let's not think about it for now. Let's stroll through this garden together."

The two continued walking in the garden, but Hongzhou's eyes still occasionally revealed a trace of worry.

The elders studied the symbol for a long time, and finally, the leader's eyes lit up, and he said loudly, "Sir, I think I have a clue! The location hidden in this symbol is very likely that abandoned old temple on the east side of the city! Few people go there on weekdays, which is very suitable for those Shadow Cult guys to carry out their activities in secret!"

Upon hearing this, Fu Heng's eyes lit up with surprise and he quickly asked, "Senior, are you sure? This is of great importance!"

The old man nodded and said confidently, "Although I can't be 100% sure, it's pretty close! Sir, you might as well send someone to investigate that old temple; perhaps we can find traces of the Shadow Cult!"

Fu Heng paced back and forth a few times, then said resolutely, "Alright! I'll send people right away! This time, we must expose the Shadow Cult's conspiracy and never let them get away with it again!"

The men received their orders and quickly assembled, heading towards the abandoned old temple on the eastern outskirts of the city. Fu Heng, on the other hand, remained where he was, anxiously awaiting news. The battle between good and evil grew increasingly tense. No one knew what secrets were hidden in the old temple, or how the fate of everyone would be changed by this investigation.
