Xiao Jian and the others cautiously made their way towards the source of the sound inside the temple. Moonlight filtered through the dilapidated roof, casting dappled shadows on the ground, adding to the eeriness of the gloomy temple.

Suddenly, several dark figures appeared ahead. Xiao Jian raised his hand, signaling everyone to stop and observe carefully. The dark figures seemed to sense someone approaching and immediately became alert.

"Who is it? Show yourself!" a dark figure shouted.

Knowing that they could no longer hide, Xiao Jian led the group out. "Your evil deeds end here. Today is the day of your destruction!" Xiao Jian shouted.

"Hmph, you think you can handle this?" The shadowy figure sneered, and a group of men in black instantly surged out from behind him, surrounding Xiao Jian and the others.

“Vice Leader, you really are here.” Xiao Jian’s sharp gaze fell on a figure in the crowd, who was none other than the Vice Leader of the Shadow Cult.

"You've managed to find this place, that's quite an achievement. But unfortunately, you're all going to die today!" the vice-leader said viciously.

A battle was about to erupt. The men in black brandished their weapons and charged towards Xiao Jian and his companions. Xiao Jian took the lead, his longsword gleaming coldly in the moonlight, each move aimed straight for the enemy's vitals. Yongqi and Erkang were not to be outdone, engaging in a fierce battle with the men in black.

The guards also used their skills to engage in a chaotic battle with the men in black. Shouts of battle and the clashing of weapons mingled together within the temple.

Seizing the opportunity, Xiao Jian broke through the encirclement of the men in black and charged towards the vice leader. "Today, I will seek justice for the dead people and my brothers!" Xiao Jian roared.

The vice-leader drew a long sword and met Xiao Jian's attack. His swordsmanship was ruthless, each strike carrying immense power. Xiao Jian skillfully dodged the vice-leader's attacks while simultaneously searching for an opportunity to counterattack.

The two exchanged blows for dozens of rounds. The vice-leader gradually became exhausted, and his swordsmanship began to falter. Xiao Jian seized the opportunity and thrust his sword towards the vice-leader's shoulder.

"Ah!" The vice-leader screamed in pain, his shoulder was injured, and he almost dropped the long sword in his hand.

Just then, Yongqi and Erkang dealt with the men in black around them and arrived to support Xiao Jian.

"You have nowhere to run, so just surrender!" Yongqi shouted.

A flicker of despair crossed the vice-leader's eyes, but he remained unwilling to accept defeat. "Even if I die, I won't let you get away with this!" he said, suddenly pulling a black pill from his pocket and putting it in his mouth.

"Oh no, he's going to commit suicide by poison!" Er Kang shouted.

Everyone rushed forward, but it was too late. After taking the poison, the vice-leader revealed a sinister smile, then slowly collapsed to the ground.

"Damn it! It's too easy for him to die," Yongqi said angrily.

Xiao Jian frowned slightly as he looked at the vice leader's corpse: "Although he is dead, the remnants of the Shadow Cult are still there, and we cannot let our guard down."

They searched the temple thoroughly and found some documents and lists related to the Shadow Cult. These documents might help them completely eradicate the remaining forces of the Shadow Cult.

“These documents are very important; they might help us find those men in black hiding in the shadows,” Xiao Jian said.

“Then let’s hurry back to the palace and hand these documents over to the Emperor,” Erkang said.

The group, carrying the documents, quickly left the abandoned temple. Upon returning to the palace, they immediately went to the Imperial Study and presented the documents to Hongli.

"Your Majesty, although we forced the Vice Leader to commit suicide by poison, we have found these documents. Perhaps we can use this to completely eliminate the remaining forces of the Shadow Cult," Xiao Jian said.

Hongli looked at the documents, a look of satisfaction in his eyes: "You have done a good job. Immediately arrange for manpower to make arrests according to this list, and make sure to wipe out the remaining forces of the Shadow Cult in one fell swoop."

"Yes, Your Majesty!" the crowd replied in unison.

Thanks to the efforts of Xiao Jian and others, a large-scale operation to capture the remaining forces of the Shadow Cult was launched. Could the capital city completely rid itself of the Shadow Cult's threat and restore its former peace? Could the people return to a peaceful life? Everything seemed to be moving in a positive direction, but behind this tranquility, were there other crises lurking?
