Huanzhu Time Travel: Yan Luo's Unbreakable Love in the Yong Dynasty

Chapter 262 The Inside Story of the Mysterious Organization

Just as the men in black were about to search Qing'er and Xiao Xiao Yanzi, Xiao Xiao Yanzi suddenly had a bright idea and pretended to be panicked and cried out, "Big brother, we really haven't done anything bad! We're just two poor people who make a living by performing acrobatics. We finally have a chance to perform here and want to earn some money to make a living. Please let us go!"

Qing'er played along, her eyes reddening, and said pitifully, "Yes, big brother, we're very timid, how could we dare to cause trouble here?"

The sudden wailing left the men in black somewhat bewildered. The leader of the men in black frowned, looking at the two girls crying their eyes out, and couldn't help but waver.

“Brother, look at them, they don’t seem to be lying. They’re probably just two naive girls who’ve never seen the world. Let’s not bother with them,” a man in black advised from the side.

The leader of the men in black glanced at Qing'er and Xiao Xiao Yanzi a few times, then sneered, "Hmph, I'll let you go this time, but don't let me see you sneaking around again. Get lost!"

"Thank you, big brother! Thank you, big brother!" Qing'er and Xiao Xiao Yanzi thanked them quickly, not daring to linger for another second, and hurriedly left the mansion.

As soon as they left the mansion, the two ran towards the agreed-upon location. Xiao Jian, Yong Qi, and Er Kang were already there anxiously waiting.

"So, did you find anything?" Xiao Jian asked eagerly when he saw them.

Qing'er, panting heavily, pulled out a roster from her bosom: "Yes, we found this in a room. It looks like their personnel roster."

Xiao Jian took the register and carefully looked through it. He saw that it contained many names, addresses, and some strange symbols and codes.

“These symbols and codes are probably used for their communication; it seems this register is very important,” Xiao Jian said.

"Can we decipher these codes?" Yongqi asked.

“I need some time to study this. However, we can send someone to check the names and addresses on it; perhaps we can find more clues,” Xiao Jian said.

So everyone immediately sprang into action. Yongqi and Erkang led a group to investigate the addresses on the roster, hoping to find other strongholds or related personnel of the mysterious organization. Xiao Jian stayed behind to study the symbols and codes, trying to decipher their secrets.

After several days of investigation, Yongqi and Erkang made some progress. They discovered that several addresses on the list were indeed related to the mysterious organization, one of which was an abandoned warehouse where men in black were frequently seen entering and exiting.

"Should we go straight to the warehouse and take a look?" Yongqi asked.

"Don't rush, we don't know the situation inside yet. Acting rashly could be dangerous," Er Kang said.

Just then, Xiao Jian also made progress. After repeated study, he finally deciphered part of the code.

“I noticed that these coded messages mention ‘full moon night’ and ‘western suburban valley,’ which seem to be hinting at something important,” Xiao Jian said.

"A full moon night? A valley in the western suburbs? Are they going to hold some important event there?" Little Swallow asked.

“Very likely. We must reach the western valley before the full moon to see what they are planning,” Xiao Jian said.

After discussing it, the group decided to sneak into the western suburban valley the day before the full moon to make preparations in advance.

The night of the full moon finally arrived, and moonlight shone on the western valley, bathing the entire valley in a silvery glow. Xiao Jian and the others carefully sneaked into the valley and hid in a patch of grass.

A short while later, a group of men dressed in black entered the valley one after another. They carried torches and had serious expressions.

"It seems they really have something important to do," Yongqi said in a low voice.

Everyone stared intently at the men in black, who were gathered in the center of the valley, seemingly waiting for something.

Suddenly, a figure slowly emerged from the depths of the valley. This person was dressed in a black robe and wore a mask, obscuring their face. Upon seeing him, the men in black all knelt down and bowed in respect.

"Greetings, Master!" the men in black said in unison.

"It seems this person is the leader of the mysterious organization," Xiao Jian said in a low voice.

“Master, everything is ready,” a man in black said as he stepped forward.

“Very good. Tonight is the perfect time for us to act. We must let the imperial court know the power of our Shadow Cult!” The cult leader’s voice was deep, yet it carried a powerful and intimidating aura.

"The Shadow Cult? So this mysterious organization is called the Shadow Cult," Qing'er said softly.

"What exactly are they trying to do?" Little Swallow asked nervously.

Just then, the cult leader waved his hand, and the men in black began to busy themselves. They placed some strange instruments in the center of the valley, seemingly performing some kind of ritual.

Xiao Jian and the others watched intently, their hearts filled with doubt and vigilance. What earth-shattering conspiracy was this mysterious Shadow Cult plotting? And how should they deal with it?
