The first part of the Snake, Insect, Rat and Ant Quartet: Snake - "Flying on the Grass", tells the story of an undercover agent hunting down a criminal.

The story begins with the protagonist, Xu Xinyu, encountering a young man bitten by a snake in the rain, and unfolds through interspersed narration.

After rescuing the 'homeless' Zhou Shengqing, the grocery store owner Xu Xinyu and Zhou Shengqing spent a peaceful period of recuperation. The plot conflict erupts during a money laundering activity by a loan shark gang. The person he rescued is "Grasshopper," an undercover agent of the security patrol team who escaped with evidence of the gang's activities and was wanted by the gang. The protagonist is also forced to get involved in the conflict between good and evil.

Finally, Zhou Shengqing used himself as bait, and the gang was eventually overthrown by the two. The security patrol team completed the roundup and 'cleanup', and the film ended.

The film's ending does not explicitly reveal Zhou Shengqing's fate, only showing an empty shot of a snake coiling around itself while holding its own tail in its mouth, followed by a long shot of the protagonist surrounded by neon lights at a crossroads in the rain, before abruptly ending.

Yin Su is no stranger to this 16-episode web series. The actor who plays Zhou Shengqing is Bai Zixiu, one of the popular young actors under Tianci Entertainment, and the lead actor is Zheng Dongchen, a middle-aged and young martial arts actor from Yuesheng Entertainment.

From Yin Su's professional perspective, the plot of this drama is rather old-fashioned and conservative. The righteous and brave grocery store owner Xu Xinyu and the anti-evil undercover agent Zhou Shengqing are both old-fashioned character designs.

The gang warfare and undercover plot have a flavor of Hong Kong and Taiwan films and television dramas from the last century. The theme incorporates the main theme of good triumphing over evil, with both action scenes and dramatic scenes taking up a significant portion of the episodes. It carries a sense of caution in its attempt to transform the online drama genre, and the online response has been quite positive.

The second part of the tetralogy, "The Insects," truly entered the public eye and tells the story of deception and counter-deception.

The security patrol team handles many cases, including a notorious serial fraud case handled by Zhu Zhi, the female patrol team leader. The story begins with a report, with the "bee" implying group fraud and the "butterfly" implying seduction, intertwined in a series of elaborate group scams and emerging honey trap types.

From the moment Zhu Zhi and her team (Fei Bo, Si Yan Zai, Wang Xiao Bao, and Han Mei Mei) begin their investigation, the series of scams they encounter and the anti-scam tactics employed by the security patrol team keep viewers on the edge of their seats. Suspicious eyewitnesses, layers of deception beneath layers of trickery, and countless foreshadowings and coincidences intertwine to construct a shocking serial fraud case.

Zhu Zhi and her team meticulously investigated the case, only to discover in the end that the person who initially reported the crime was also part of the scam.

The ending shot blurs from the scene of Zhu Zhi and his team toasting at the celebration banquet, quickly flashing back to the case investigation and the remains of insects, finally focusing on a spider feeding in the center, with butterflies and bees struggling in the net, but unable to escape their fate as prey; the camera then uses a swirling focus effect—the final empty shot is a slowly rotating net, and the film ends.

The film uses coincidences and unexpected events during the investigation of the deception to create a well-paced rhythm.

The second part incorporates many lighthearted plot transitions, nonsensical emotional expressions, and vivid character designs. The dark humor and farcical plot full of flaws often make the audience burst into laughter, and the warning and educational significance is more relevant to people's lives, which has a certain anti-fraud publicity value.
