Reborn in the Entertainment Industry: Second Life

Chapter 280: Team Leader Guan's Room Check?

Upon arriving at the company, the group got out of the car and took the elevator upstairs.

The office building has 36 floors and features a fountain and greenery outside. While it's not particularly outstanding in the park, it's still fairly average. The building displays the logo of Shenshuang Pharmaceutical, and it looks quite impressive.

"Brother Bing, this is your office. Do you see any areas that need improvement?"

The monkey excitedly opened a heavy door. Bo Bing looked inside and saw that the main office seat had been slightly raised, with a floor-to-ceiling window behind it. A solid wood desk sat on the main seat, adorned with green plants. A tea set was placed on a coffee table in front of the upholstered sofa, behind which hung a huge painting of a welcoming pine tree. To the side was a display shelf with partitions, displaying ornaments and drinks. Crystal chandeliers and spotlights provided even lighting, and there were also elegantly placed fish tanks and money trees.

The entire office was covered with thick, dark red carpets, giving it the feel of a grand hall used to receive dignitaries.

"Why make such a big fuss?"

Bo Bing went inside and took a look around. He touched his nose a little awkwardly, but seeing that his expression showed no dissatisfaction, Monkey was secretly pleased.

"I'm glad you like it, Brother Bing. Our boss, Shen Shuang, is a prominent figure in X City, so his office has to be grand," Monkey said, looking at his masterpiece with satisfaction. "I modified this according to the venue of a VIP VIP room. When Brother Bing sits up there, his aura will be off the charts!"

"Damn it, monkey, I didn't expect you to be such a sycophant," Cao Xin, who had followed along, said indignantly, and started complaining to Bo Bing again, "Boss Bo, this kid has been watching this plan the whole time, and I can't even offer a single opinion."

"You don't know anything," Monkey said, his face turning bright red as Cao Xin called him a sycophant in front of his underlings. "I'm just trying to make Bing-ge's office more comfortable. Your decorating style is so tacky, it's not even fit for an office, I'd think it's tacky even if you decorated a KTV. You, Cao Xin, are just a bumpkin!"

Cao Xin was even angrier. "What's wrong with my style? Do you think you're the only one who cares about Boss Bo?"

"Alright, alright, Brother Cao, Brother Monkey, we're all brothers, all brothers," Lu Guanglin quickly intervened when he saw the two men were about to burst into anger. "Boss Bo is still here, don't ruin our harmony."

Even though the two were still resentful, they calmed down after Lu Guanglin mentioned Bo Bing.

"Don't argue, everyone sit down."

Bo Bing rubbed her temples and sat down. "There's been a lot going on lately, and you've all worked hard. Once the summit starts here, everyone will probably be even busier. Let's not let things get awkward."

As soon as he spoke, Monkey and Cao Xin obediently sat down below him, listening to his instructions.

"Brother Bing, there's something else."

The monkey thought of something, "Zhang Baoshan, the boss of Huafen, invited me to the Great World tonight, saying he wanted to discuss business... This business has been discussed several times, and Cao Xin and I have had quite a few drinks with them, but they keep dragging their feet and not signing the contract. I guess this old fox is still looking for a better opportunity while he's still on the go."

"This time, it was the other side that extended an olive branch..." Monkey paused, "I feel that maybe they couldn't reach an agreement with the other party, so they want to come back to us to talk."

"Business is negotiable," Bo Bing said, raising her eyes.

He knew that the monkey's statement wasn't out of fear of business or social engagements. "Do you think there's anything else?"

“Yes, this place…” Monkey frowned. He wasn’t pretending to be high-minded and not going to entertainment venues to discuss business, but this big world was no good. He had heard a lot about how it was a mixed bag of people and various forces were layered on top of each other in X City.

So he told the truth, "This place has been the site of several incidents, and the police in X City have investigated it. Although I'm just a small fry and don't know the details, the fact that they specifically chose this place means they're definitely not good people."

Bo Bing's phone beeped. He glanced at the text message, his eyes flashing sharply for a moment, before turning off the screen and looking up at Cao Xin. "So you mean, this place, or this Zhang Baoshan, might have a problem?"

“Boss Bo, I’ve also had someone scout out this place. The entire area is a commercialized bathhouse and entertainment venue, a mixed bag of people, with various forces entrenched there. We might not get any benefits if we go in,” Cao Xin said cautiously upon hearing this.

“Zhang Baoshan may be fine, those old guys are just like that; but there are too many people here, and I’m afraid that if Shen Shuang’s people get involved, it might cause other problems.”

The group looked at Bo Bing, waiting for his decision.

Bo Bing lowered her eyes and quickly understood what Cao Xin meant. Cao Xin was too familiar with this place; it might be an upgraded version of Zhi Yu's industrial chain. Cao Xin had to be wary of his former peers.

“I’ll go with you, but keep a low profile,” Bo Bing said coldly, shoving her phone into her pocket. “Guanglin, you stay at the company and be ready to provide backup.”

Ma Zi nodded, indicating to Bo Bing that he understood.

Monkey and Cao Xin exchanged a glance, then looked at Bo Bing.

"Brother Bing, are you going too?"

The monkey stared wide-eyed. "Isn't Brother Bing always averse to going to entertainment venues?"

Bo Bing nodded. "I'll go in disguise as a henchman. There are other things I need to confirm here, you guys go ahead with your work."

He has something else on his mind right now.

The message from Lü Shuang said that someone here was taking advantage of the situation to sell illegal drugs and was even trying to pin the source of the drugs on the Lü family of Shuangkou. This was a huge deal, and Lü Shuang had to be on her guard. She had many overseas drug transactions, but Shuangkou was still not involved in this kind of business. She couldn't stand being smeared like this.

She initially started tracing the source after hearing rumors of illegal smuggling by a certain family in Southeast Asia. Unexpectedly, a clue led her to City X.

Bo Bing sat on the sofa, the crystal chandelier and the brightly lit spotlights giving him a light and uncomfortable feeling, and his disguised face appeared particularly cold.

This is proper commercial decoration, Bo Bing thought. Luckily, Monkey didn't listen to Cao Xin, otherwise he would be dizzy and confused at work.

Opposite them were Lü Shuang and Hai Zhu, their legs crossed.

"It's possible that the Kang family is behind this; the entertainment venues here aren't entirely clean ties with them."

Lu Shuang's expression was solemn, and the shadows in his eyes beneath his eyelashes were deep. "If my guess is correct, they are most likely retaliating for what happened at the port last time."

Bo Bing let out a breath. Clearly, he had considered this point, but he was more cautious. "Before we have evidence, we shouldn't act rashly. Let's first find out who has the source of the goods."

Both of them knew perfectly well that they weren't worried about the Kang family.

Bo Bing and Lü Shuang chatted for a while longer. Judging that Cao Xin and the others were almost finished, Bo Bing said goodbye to Lü Shuang and prepared to join them. Upon opening the door, they found a bald man inside, completely drunk, with two women on either side of him, bragging to his men. Monkey and Cao Xin were also surrounded by hostesses, enjoying themselves immensely.

When Cao Xin saw Bo Bing come in, he excused himself to go to the restroom, stood up, pushed away the girls who were clinging to him, and as he brushed past her, he gave a barely perceptible nod to Bo Bing's questioning gaze.

As soon as Bo Bing entered, he obviously caught Zhang Baoshan's attention. He asked Monkey, with a thick tongue, who this was. Monkey, afraid that he would make things difficult for Bo Bing, replied that he was his trusted underling. Upon hearing this, Zhang Baoshan became even more excited and insisted that Bo Bing choose a few girls from among the group of hostesses to accompany him, otherwise it would be disrespectful to him and show no sincerity.

This is a similar obedience test to forcing someone to drink alcohol.

The monkey really wanted to jump up and kick his business partner, but there were quite a few people on the other side, and he really couldn't do anything to this old man. He could only advise him, "My little brother here has a different eye than others, so let's not waste our time calling for prostitutes... Come on, Mr. Zhang, I'll toast you."

These words clearly took on a different meaning in the ears of the heavily intoxicated Zhang Baoshan.

"Oh, you don't like big-breasted ladies," he waved his hand at the head waiter, "Call all the young masters and transvestites who have vacant shifts here, let my brother pick them, and I'll get a yearly pass under his name."

After saying that, he winked at the monkey, "Am I being nice enough, Mr. Hou?"

Monkey choked on his drink, his face turning a deep purplish-red. He dared not look back at Bo Bing's expression; at that moment, he felt like strangling Zhang Baoshan.

The private room became very chaotic.

A group of flamboyantly dressed men and women, and even androgynous individuals, swarmed towards Bo Bing. Everyone knew that the commission for an annual membership was astonishing. Bo Bing tried to refuse with a dark face, but he couldn't help being groped by the group. He couldn't knock them all out, and if it weren't for the inappropriate situation, he would have wanted to kill someone.

The soundproofing in the private room was so good that they missed the police sirens coming from the first floor.

Until the door was kicked open and a group of people rushed in.

"Don't move, police!"

"Hold your head and squat down!"

The leader nearly made the monkey choke to death on the alcohol.

Bo Bing had just pushed someone away when she looked up and met Guan Yinshan's eyes, who had a serious and cold expression.

Yes.

Even Bo Bing cursed under her breath.

I carried it all the way home, and of all people to run into, it had to be this guy.
