Chapter 8

After finishing discussing Qi Hengfeng's matter, Jin Yize showed no sign of leaving.

An Jiuxi guessed that he probably wanted to ask about his curse, but he was hesitant to bring it up because she had vomited blood and fainted during the afternoon's ritual to guide her to the afterlife.

This person looks cold, but has a good heart.

An Jiuxi took the initiative to speak, "You've been under the spell for too long, and your body is severely depleted. You need to recuperate before the spell is lifted. I've prescribed a formula for you, and I also need to prepare some things."

As he spoke, he pointed to a piece of paper that was being pressed down by a green plant on the desk.

Jin Yize reached out and took it, glancing at it. "Thank you."

"No need." She was simply fulfilling her obligation as agreed in the deal.

Jin Yize then asked, "What do you want to buy? You can ask someone to do it."

“What I want to buy, you can’t buy,” An Jiuxi refused with a smile.

Jin Yize didn't insist anymore. Since she said that, it probably meant that they really couldn't buy it.

The bodyguard suddenly appeared at the door. "Seventh Master, they've called and want you to come over."

Before Jin Yize could speak, An Jiuxi frowned as she looked at the man's face.

His forehead was pitch black, exuding an aura of death.

The girl's slender fingers flew across the paper as she quickly calculated something. After a moment, she stood up with a serious expression and began rummaging through her bag.

Then he took out a yellow talisman folded into a triangle and handed it to the bodyguard, saying, "A talisman for safety. Keep it close to your body. When walking on mountain paths, stay away from the mountain walls."

The bodyguard paused for a moment, then subconsciously looked at Jin Yize.

The latter nodded, "Here you go, take it. From now on, her orders are the same as mine!"

The bodyguard stared in shock, then respectfully accepted the yellow talisman with both hands and placed it close to his body.

"Thank you, young lady."

An Jiuxi opened her mouth. "Madam is one thing, but why add the word 'little'?"

Oh well, she had no intention of actually marrying Jin Yize anyway.

After Jin Yize left, An Jiuxi dried her hair, took a stack of yellow paper, and sat down at her desk to carefully cut it.

A moment later, a lifelike little paper figure appeared on the table.

An Jiuxi formed a hand seal and touched the center of the paper figure's forehead.

A golden light flashed across the little paper figure, and then it stood up, bowing and scraping to An Jiuxi, looking extremely grateful.

An Jiuxi reached out and tapped the little paper figure's head. "Alright, the smell in this house isn't good. Go and bury a few things for me."

Then he rummaged through his bag and pulled out several jade ornaments, tossing them all to the little paper figure.

The little paper figure reached out to lift it, but the ornament pressed it flat onto the desk, making it unable to move.

An Jiuxi, “…”

A moment later, "Sorry, I forgot you're not very robust. Let me cut a few more."

Soon, several more little paper figures lined up.

Together with the little paper doll from before, they worked in pairs, carrying the ornaments on the table, jumping off the table, and running quickly out to the yard on their short legs. Following the directions given by An Jiuxi, they dug a hole and buried it.

Once all the ornaments were buried, a warm white light emanated from each ornament, eventually converging into a circular protective shield that enveloped the villa.

Then, it vanished without a trace.

Inside the villa, the old man was in his study instructing the housekeeper.

Suddenly, my angry and agitated mood calmed down.

The oppressive heat in the air suddenly vanished, replaced by a comfortable temperature.

He frowned, looking puzzled. "Old Ke, did you have the air conditioning turned on?"

It's only May, and the weather is far from hot.

However, Qi Hengfeng's matter weighed heavily on the old man's mind, making him feel particularly depressed.

Butler Lao Ke also looked bewildered. "No, but... I do feel like it's suddenly gotten much cooler, and it feels very comfortable."

Both of them found it strange, but they only thought it was a change in temperature and didn't pay much attention to it.

The old man continued to instruct him, "Hurry up and have someone investigate the people around the third son. The two of them are honest and simple-minded, and they don't understand these complicated things."

"Yes, sir." Butler Ke bowed slightly.

He worked as the Jin family's housekeeper his entire life, following Mr. Jin since he was young.

He watched the Jin family children grow up. To put it bluntly, he had long regarded them as his own children.

Even if the master didn't give the order, he would still find out who hurt the third son-in-law.

After leaving the villa, Jin Yize gave the house that An Jiuxi had given him to his bodyguard.

"Go get the medicine according to this prescription, brew it, and I'll drink it."

Lu Huaisang has always been Jin Yize's closest protector; he is the person Jin Yize trusts the most.

Lu Huaisang was well aware of the importance of this prescription and accepted it with great care.

"Don't worry, Seventh Master, I will handle it personally."

The two drove away.

The Jin family's old house is located halfway up the mountain, a winding mountain road that takes nearly twenty minutes to traverse.

The inner side of the mountain road is surrounded by dense forests, while the outer side is a cliff.

The road he was used to driving had inexplicably stirred a sense of unease in Lu Huaisang's heart tonight.

For safety reasons, he usually stays close to the mountainside.

But tonight, when he remembered what An Jiuxi had said, a sudden burning sensation shot through his chest, as if something was on fire.

He panicked and, as if possessed, drove the car closer to the outer edge of the mountain road.

Just as his car turned to the outside, a loud rumbling sound suddenly came from the mountainside.

Then came a loud bang!

It looked like something had fallen from the mountain; a huge shadow rolled past the car and plunged down the cliff.

Lu Huaisang slammed on the brakes and, still shaken, looked out the window at the dark bottom of the cliff.

"Seventh Master..." The usually calm and composed man, who remained unfazed even when attacked by a group of assassins, was now trembling in his voice.

Jin Yize leaned against the shadows in the back seat of the car, not even lifting his eyelids, looking cold and sinister.

"Let's go."

Lu Huaisang took a deep breath and reached out to touch the spot that had been burning hot, but only felt a handful of black ash.

The talisman that was placed here just now should be the one the young mistress gave him.

Recalling the words the young mistress had given him, and what had just happened, Lu Huaisang felt a surge of heat in his heart.

The young lady is truly... amazing!

Inside the villa, the moment the talisman burned to ashes, An Jiuxi, who had been sleeping on the bed, sensed something and opened her eyes.

The girl made a quick calculation under the covers, and a smile appeared on her lips.

"I've survived the near-death experience, so I like obedient ones like this."

Good words can't persuade a damn ghost.

Although her talisman can save people, it is useless if the person being saved does not believe in it or does not cooperate.

However, isn't the Jin family's acceptance of metaphysics a bit too high?

An Jiuxi blinked, not thinking much, and hugged the blanket, closing her eyes beautifully again.

For some reason, I had a dream.

In my dream, there was a thick fog, and I couldn't see anything.

She stood in the thick fog, not knowing where to go or what to do, feeling a sense of bewilderment she had never experienced before.

"Xixi...Xixi...Xixi, where are you...?"

Is someone calling her name, and it seems they're crying?

An Jiuxi suddenly woke up; it was already broad daylight!
