Dark Array!

This is a formation arranged in an extremely ingenious way, taking advantage of the natural terrain. There are no complicated feng shui or divination techniques; it simply relies on the special terrain. The naked eye cannot see any secrets within it. Once trapped inside, there is no way to escape. This is called a 'hidden formation'!

As the saying goes, the simplest truths are often the hardest to understand; the simpler something is, the harder it is to crack.

Chen Yibai and Yan Xuefei split up and searched the cave carefully for a long time, almost digging three feet into the ground, but in the end they found no trace of a tomb raider's tunnel.

It was as if these three colleagues had truly descended from the earth.

Or the tunnel might not even be here!

"Captain Chen, could it be that you're mistaken, and they came in from somewhere else?"

After searching for a long time without success, Yan Xuefei became increasingly anxious.

Because this is a dead end, if the police catch up, we'll be stuck here.

Chen Yibai, however, remained steadfast in his judgment. He frowned again, looking at the three corpses of his companions in the pile of rocks, and said with half-closed eyes, "If they came in from somewhere else, why didn't they die elsewhere, but instead died here?"

Chen Yibai paused for a moment, then continued, "Judging from the fact that these three colleagues don't have any obvious external injuries or signs of struggle, they were most likely trapped and died here. It's likely that they dug the tunnel here, and when they wanted to go back up, they couldn't find it!"

The tomb robbery tunnel can't be found?

Yan Xuefei found Chen Yibai's words very mysterious and frowned deeply, half believing and half doubting them.

Chen Yibai glanced at Yan Xuefei again and said calmly, "Of course, this is just my guess. If you have any other ideas, you can go and find out for yourself. You don't need to follow me..."

"I……"

Yan Xuefei stared, seemingly wanting to say something but then stopping herself, thinking to herself, "If I had any other way, would I need to follow you?"

Although Yan Xuefei understood Maoshan Taoist arts, she was a complete novice when it came to feng shui and ancient tombs. So even though she had doubts, she could only follow Chen Yibai.

However, Yan Xuefei thought again and wondered if it was a bit too much for her, an outsider, to question Chen Yibai, a professional tomb raider.

Just as Yan Xuefei was thinking about this, she suddenly heard a strange hissing sound from above, as if something was crawling on the stone wall above her.

Yan Xuefei subconsciously looked up and saw a large drop of liquid fall right onto her face. It felt warm and had a fishy smell.

This disgusted Yan Xuefei, and she was also so frightened that she wanted to scream, but she was afraid that the disgusting liquid would flow into her mouth, so she quickly reached out to wipe it.

After wiping the foul-smelling, sticky liquid off his face, he looked again and saw two red lanterns hanging from the top of the cave, their color as eerie as blood. They were placed on the left and right, about two or three meters apart, and there was a double shadow around them, swaying faintly.

"run!"

Before Yan Xuefei could even see what it was, she heard Chen Yibai shout in her ear. Her body reacted as if by conditioned reflex, faster than her brain. Without bothering to look closely, she took off running after Chen Yibai.

Rumble…

Yan Xuefei had barely run away when a pile of rocks came crashing down from above behind her. If she had been even a second slower, she would probably have been smashed into a pulp.

Yan Xuefei was still shaken. After regaining her footing, she looked up at the top of the cave again. The two eerie red lanterns she had seen earlier were actually a pair of eyes on either side of its body. It was pitch black and estimated to be nearly ten meters long. Hidden beneath it were a pair of pincers that looked like scythes. It supported its body with hundreds of legs and slowly crawled along the top of the cave!

This is a centipede! It's even bigger than the centipede demons in ghost stories!

"what……"

After seeing the centipede in its entirety, Yan Xuefei was instantly terrified and let out a hysterical scream. She had never been this terrified even when she saw a zongzi (sticky rice dumpling).

It seems that insects are indeed a woman's natural enemy, especially snakes, insects, rodents, and ants.

Chen Yibai, however, remained quite calm and did not seem surprised at all.

After all, Chen Yibai had seen the world.

This centipede was far inferior to the Candle Dragon we'd seen before; it could at best be considered a 'small centipede'.

Furthermore, it's not unusual that some of the ancient imperial tombs contain ferocious creatures that are almost sentient.

Perhaps because of Yan Xuefei's scream, the centipede opened its mouth, white fluid flowing from it. Its body suddenly stretched and contracted, and its long, black-haired legs stepped on the rocks in the cave, causing pieces of rock to fall off and crash down with a rumble.

"Captain Chen, this place is not safe to stay any longer, let's retreat!"

Seeing this, Yan Xuefei immediately shouted at Chen Yibai.

"Okay, you can go now..."

Chen Yibai nodded, took the crimson ancient sword in his hand, and stared sharply at the centipede above the cave.

Yan Xuefei frowned immediately and hurriedly asked, "And you?"

Yan Xuefei wasn't concerned about Chen Yibai; rather, she didn't know where to go if Chen Yibai didn't leave!

"This centipede must be a tomb guardian beast; the exit is right here!"

The appearance of this centipede further confirmed Chen Yibai's previous guess.

In many special ancient tombs, not only were tomb-guarding beasts placed, but some also kept living tomb-guarding beasts, just like tomb guardians, except one was inside the tomb and the other was outside.

So the appearance of this tomb-guarding centipede here must mean there's something mysterious about this place.

As soon as Chen Yibai finished speaking, the centipede seemed to understand him. It stretched and contracted its body again, crawling along the cliff of the cave. Its hundred legs stomped on the rocks, crashing down towards Chen Yibai and Yan Xuefei with a thunderous roar.

Fortunately, Chen Yibai's night vision allows him to see the entire scene and avoid danger in advance.

But hiding like this all the time isn't a solution. The centipede moves nimbly along the cliff face of the cave, and if it climbs up even a little, it's already at a height that's impossible to reach.

After hearing Chen Yibai's words, Yan Xuefei simply gritted her teeth and followed him. After a few minutes of back-and-forth tugging, the centipede seemed to grow impatient. Its eerie blood-red eyes stared at Chen Yibai, its mouth opening and closing with a hissing sound. Suddenly, four enormous, thin as cicada wings unfurled from its sides, fluttering as it pounced straight at Chen Yibai.

"This centipede can actually fly!"

Chen Yibai's eyes widened in surprise: "Flying Centipede?"
