Gu Wei stood up, and only then did Yan Yu notice that she was holding a dirty little dog with bloodstains on its fur.

Gu Wei looked down at the barely alive puppy. "It looks like it was hit by a car and its leg is broken."

Yan Yu turned to get the car, "Let's take him to the hospital."

“It takes at least thirty minutes to drive there, and it can’t last that long.”

Gu Wei was silent for a moment before saying, "My dad is a doctor, and he taught me some things. I'll give it a quick treatment first. Wait for me."

After she finished speaking, she went inside, and Yan Yu leaned against the car window and lit a cigarette.

After some time, Gu Wei came out again carrying the dog.

After handing the puppy over to the vet, Yan Yu and Gu Wei sat on the bench outside, neither of them saying a word.

Rescuing a puppy out of kindness is neither suitable for him nor for her.

After the surgery, the doctor told them that the puppy would need to stay in the hospital for a week. The two paid the hospital fees and drove home.

Gu Wei said nonchalantly, "It was raining heavily that day. You asked him to take me home, and he did, but he just stood there with his own umbrella. I asked him to share half of his umbrella with me so I could shield myself from the rain, but he refused. I was soaked to the bone and in a bad mood, so I impulsively slapped him."

Yan Yu suddenly remembered that Yan Su had mentioned that Gu Wei was always bothering him.

He raised an eyebrow and asked deliberately, "You have feelings for Yan Su? Is that why you're angry—because he treated you like that?"

Gu Weige smiled and denied it, saying, "I was just teasing him because he's good-looking. Who knew he was so easily amused?"

"Teasing him?"

Yan Yu suddenly stood up, placed his hands on either side of her, and bent over, completely enveloping her body. He met her somewhat stunned fox-like eyes and said, "Why don't you tease me?"

A mischievous glint flashed in her eyes, and she curled her lips into a smile. "Do you want me to tease you?"

Yan Yu actually just wanted to test whether she really liked Yan Su.

If so, he should warn her early and put an end to her hopes.
