Yan Su stood in front of a tent a dozen meters away from her, smoking a cigarette, the cigarette between his fingers burning slowly.

Suddenly, the sidelight snapped on, casting a dim yellow light over him, his shadow flickering on the ground.

The light made him squint, and he stubbed out the half-smoked cigarette on a disposable food container, which he had bought on the way to rent a tent that afternoon.

The person who turned on the light was a tall man from a family who had pitched a tent less than two meters away from him. He was about thirty years old, with dark skin, and was adjusting the position of the light stand.

The woman standing next to him was his wife, about the same age as him, with a plump figure. She noticed Yan Su's actions, gently nudged her son beside her, and whispered a few words.

Their son was about 1.75 meters tall and looked like a middle school student. He listened to his mother while looking towards Yan Su.

After his mother finished speaking, he went into the tent, rummaged around inside, and finally came out with two boxes of self-heating hot pot in his hand.

He glanced at his mother and saw her nod. He then walked over to Yan Su and handed him the self-heating hot pot.

Yan Su's eyes had just adjusted to the light when two boxes of self-heating hot pot suddenly appeared in front of him, making him pause for a second. He looked up at the boy.

The boy cheerfully said to him, "Brother, I'm sorry about earlier. My dad suddenly turned on the light and startled you, didn't he? You probably haven't finished eating yet, right? Here, take this."

Yan Su was always good at putting on a show. He smiled gently at the boy and said, "It's nothing, you're too kind."

The boy insisted that he accept it, and after several unsuccessful attempts to refuse, he had no choice but to accept it.

After he took it, the boy didn't leave. Instead, he asked, "Brother, are you here to see the meteor shower too?"

Yan Su glanced subconsciously in Liang Qing's direction, paused, and then replied, "I guess so."

His ambiguous statement did not dampen the boy's enthusiasm at all. He excitedly said, "I knew it! I dare say that 99 percent of the people on the mountain today came for this meteor shower."

Yan Su thought to himself: That's really unfortunate, he just happens to be that one percent.

Out of politeness, he still asked, "So, your family is like that too?"

"Of course, my dad loves stars, trees, the sea... basically anything that's even remotely related to nature, he loves it."

"Do you like it too?"

The boy thought for a moment and replied, "At first I didn't like it. I was just a little kid back then, and I didn't have the energy to run around with them. But every year during my holidays, they would take me on trips all over the place. Every time I had a holiday, my legs would go weak just thinking about it."

As he spoke, he looked up at the sky and laughed, "However, after experiencing the fun of it, I came to like it."

Yan Su looked in the direction of his parents. The two were standing in front of a telescope. The tall man was half-bent over, his hand on the woman's hand, completely surrounding her.

The woman looked through the eyepiece with one eye and squinted with the other, while the man laughed and guided her hand to operate the focus wheel.

Seeing that he didn't speak, the boy looked down at him and followed his gaze.

Seeing her parents fiddling with a telescope again, she couldn't help but complain, "My dad is really something, he never tells my mom how to adjust the focus. Every time I try to teach her, he always sends me away..."

Yan Su withdrew his gaze and carefully observed the boy beside him, who was a head shorter than him. His skin was slightly lighter than his father's, but it could still be considered bronze.

His own hands, placed side by side with his in the warm yellow light, still appeared so pale.

The pale arm suddenly stung him, and he averted his gaze, instantly losing all interest in continuing the conversation with the boy.

Just as she was about to find an excuse to get rid of the boy, a cell phone rang abruptly, interrupting his rambling.

Seeing Yan Su take his phone out of his pocket, the boy stopped talking. He smiled and said goodbye to Yan Su, revealing two rows of white teeth: "Brother, I won't bother you anymore, I'm leaving now."

Yan Su nodded slightly to him, secretly relieved.

That's perfect, saves him the trouble of coming up with an excuse.

But when he looked at the caller ID, he caught his breath again.

He couldn't help but sneer. Sure enough, Yan Su's life was nothing more than a series of unpleasant turns into one unpleasant one.

He pressed the answer button heavily, put the phone to his ear, and rummaged in his pocket for a cigarette case with his other hand.

"Yan Su, where are you?" Yan Yu's voice came from the microphone.

"Up in the mountains." Yan Su opened the cigarette box and found it empty.

Yan Yu asked in confusion, "What are you doing on the mountain?"

He threw away the cigarette pack and replied, "To watch the meteor shower."

There was a moment of silence on the other end, followed by a few laughs. After laughing, Yan Yu said, "You seem to have a lot of free time."

Yan Su didn't answer, so Yan Yu said again, "Alright, after you're done watching, let's go to your older brother's house. We have something to discuss with you."

"understood."

He hung up the phone, packed up the tent and trash, and for some reason glanced in the direction where the family had been. They had disappeared along with the telescope, leaving only the lamp stand standing alone in front of the tent.

Yan Su went straight down the mountain. Halfway down, he ran into Song Zhiji who was going up the mountain. He quickly hid behind a tree. Song Zhiji was focused on the steps and didn't see him.

After Song Zhiji left, he went to the mountainside where there was a shopping street. He threw the trash and the two boxes of self-heating hot pot into the trash can outside the tent rental shop, then went into the shop to return the tent. After the owner checked, he refunded his deposit.

He had already left the store, but then he turned back.

"Do you have any cigarettes?" Yan Su asked the shop owner.

"Yes, over here. Take a look and see which one you want." The shopkeeper led him to a glass cabinet, which contained various kinds of cigarettes.

Yan Su lowered his eyes and looked up. Then he heard footsteps coming from the doorway.

"I told you to come earlier, but you wouldn't listen. Now it's already dark."

A girl's complaining voice came in.

The boy replied lazily, "What's the rush? It's only just gotten dark. The meteor shower starts at 8:48 tonight."

The girl said dejectedly, "I'm hungry."

When the shop owner saw three people come in, he wanted to attract customers, so he gave Yan Su an apologetic smile and said, "Take your time picking out your things, and you can pay at the front desk later."

After saying that, he walked up to the guests who had just entered and asked, "What would you like?"

One of the boys said, "We need to rent three tents and three lights."

After he went to the front desk and registered with the boss, the girl repeated, "I'm hungry, Governor."

Upon hearing the words "Prefect," Yan Su looked up at the front desk and saw Qin Zhouyu, Prefect Qin, and Xu Xi standing there.

After listening to Xu Xi's complaints, Governor Qin turned around and comforted him, saying, "I understand."

Turning to the owner, I asked, "Where is your food section?"

The shopkeeper pointed in a direction, and the three of them were about to walk over when Qin Zhouyu suddenly felt a gaze upon him. He looked over and found Yan Su standing in front of the cabinet, looking at him.

When Yan Su saw that Qin Zhouyu had also noticed him, he smiled at him, and Qin Zhouyu nodded back as a greeting.
