Conan and Gin are both my brothers, what's wrong with meeting them once?

Chapter 360 Takagi's Journey to Win Over His Wife

Kudo Kazuma stared at his phone for several minutes, but no one replied.

I don't know what Takagi was doing; he messed up at such a crucial moment.

In the next room, Sato's mother and Shiratori's butler were preparing to go out for a walk, letting the two of them talk on their own.

Just as the group was wondering what Shiratori and Sato, two acquaintances, would say, they found that no one spoke for a long time. It wasn't until Shiratori spoke up with great interest that they realized, "I understand. Someone will have to come and rescue the beautiful princess from the Demon King's clutches, right?"

Ran and Conan both gasped in surprise, while Kazuma Kudo and Sonoko exchanged a glance. Then Kazuma Kudo whispered, "I didn't realize that Shiratori, this rich kid, was actually quite skilled."

Before anyone else could comment, Sato awkwardly retorted, "How could that be? Are you kidding me?"

“Well then,” Shiratori said, “if Officer Takagi can get here soon, I’m willing to leave this restaurant on my own…”

"But if he doesn't have the guts to come here, then you'll have to agree to be my wife! How about it?"

This time it wasn't just Ran and Conan; several people in the next room gasped in shock.

Sonoko excitedly tried to lower her voice: "Officer Shiratori is so good at this!"

Kazuma Kudo shrugged and said, "See? Everyone knows Takagi likes Sato."

Just then, Sato's puzzled voice came from next door: "What does this have to do with Officer Takagi?"

For a moment, everyone was speechless.

Kazuma Kudo forced a smile: "Sorry, I forgot that Officer Sato doesn't know..."

To their surprise, just as Shiratori said he was joking, Sato agreed to his request.

This left Conan and the others stunned, and even Shiratori found it hard to believe: "You agreed? You know, this is no joke!"

“I know exactly what’s going on,” Sato said calmly. “If Officer Takagi comes to pick me up, this blind date will be canceled, and we can pretend it never happened. If he doesn’t come, I’ll marry you and become your wife. But waiting indefinitely isn’t a solution, so how about we limit it to waiting until sunset?”

Sonoko's eyes lit up several degrees: "Things seem to be getting more and more interesting!"

Conan was somewhat speechless, muttering under his breath, "No way? Is Officer Sato serious?"

Ran looked conflicted: "But if Officer Takagi doesn't arrive, is Officer Sato really going to give up his life so hastily?"

Sonoko turned to her and said, "Maybe Officer Sato also wants to marry a rich guy?"

Ran frowned slightly: "But I think Officer Sato clearly has a good impression of Officer Takagi."

The doctor behind them spoke up: "Since she spoke so confidently, she must have a certain chance of winning, right?"

Kudo Kazuma shrugged: "Whether Officer Sato has a chance of winning depends on whether Takagi is reliable."

To be honest, while Takagi is incredibly smart as Conan's top disciple, he's also notoriously prone to making mistakes...

While they were still discussing whether and when Takagi could come, Shiratori from next door called Inspector Megure first to inquire about Takagi's whereabouts.

Clearly, he wasn't very confident about this matter either.

"A convenience store robbery?... No, I just have something I'd like to ask Inspector Takagi. Since he's busy, that's fine. Inspector Megure, could you please tell him to focus on the case?"

After Shiratori hung up the phone, Sato asked, "You said the convenience store robbery? What's the situation? Weren't there other police cases today?"

Shiratori explained, "Inspector Megure said that Officer Takagi happened to witness a convenience store robbery on his way back. I heard that although he has found three suspects, the eyewitness testimonies don't match up at all."

"How could they not match? There should only be one robber, right?"

"Well, I don't know..."

Sato's voice sounded somewhat helpless: "Never mind, I'll just call Officer Takagi directly."

Unfortunately, she couldn't make the call; Shiratori stopped her, arguing that Sato contacting Takagi directly would be a violation of the rules. After all, Takagi was currently on a case, and leaving the scene would clearly be a breach of regulations, potentially leading to disciplinary action.

Upon hearing this, Conan immediately sighed and said, "I'm going to the restroom."

As he spoke, he tugged at Kudo Kazuma's clothes, and Kudo Kazuma immediately followed suit.

Sonoko looked at the two of them speechlessly: "Do guys have to go to the restroom in pairs?"

Of course not.

Whether Conan was interested in the case or felt pity for Takagi, he was determined to help.

Kudo Kazuma, of course, didn't mind gossiping about Takagi and Sato.

So Conan went to the restroom and used Shinichi Kudo's identity to call Takagi and ask for help in solving the case; while Kazuma Kudo drove to the scene of the incident to pick up Takagi, so that he wouldn't dawdle and miss the deadline.

Kudo Kazuma drove to the vicinity of the convenience store where the incident occurred and slowly searched for Takagi along the road, but to no avail.

Left with no other option, he parked his car and looked around. Finally, he found a police car across the street, and Takagi was leaning against it making a phone call. It seemed that the matter was over.

It's only a five-minute walk from here to the Water Tower. There are still about ten minutes until sunset. Even if Takagi takes a leisurely stroll after making the call, he can arrive on time. There can't be any more problems...

Right?

Before Kudo Kazuma could finish his thought, the police car was suddenly pushed open, and a short man wearing a blue-green sweater jumped out and ran wildly in one direction.

Takagi belatedly realized what was happening and quickly chased after them.

Kazuma Kudo: "..."

As expected of Takagi...

Just then, the traffic light at the intersection not far away turned red. Taking advantage of the fact that there were no cars on the road, Kudo Kazuma crossed the road on the spot, quickly overtook Takagi, caught up with the man who ran out of the police car, grabbed the man's shoulder, tripped him, and pushed him to the ground.

"Thank you... Huh?" Takagi paused for a moment when he saw Kudo Kazuma. "Edogawa-kun?"

Kudo Kazuma was speechless. He pulled the fleeing robber to his feet and, while dragging him towards the police car, said to Takagi, "Aren't you going to pick up Sato? You really don't mind her marrying Shiratori?"

Takagi's expression changed instantly: "Of...of course not!"

He immediately took action, and together with Kudo Kazuma, they dragged the robber back quickly and shoved him into the police car.

After watching Chiba fasten the silver bracelet to the robber, Takagi finally breathed a sigh of relief, and then...

He took off running towards the direction of the Water Tower...

Watching Takagi's retreating figure running wildly in the sunset, Kudo Kazuma tilted his head: "Did I forget to tell him that I came to pick him up in a car?"

Fine, let's just run away.

This is Takagi's journey to win back his wife, so what's wrong with taking a few more steps?

As for him, of course he had to drive over quickly to see what was going on.
