Conan and Gin are both my brothers, what's wrong with meeting them once?

Chapter 249 You're not a Grim Reaper too, are you?

Upon hearing that no one had died in the case, Kudo Kazuma lost interest.

He's not like his older brother Shinichi Kudo, who pounces on a case the moment he smells it.

He raised his hand and patted Takagi on the shoulder: "Brother Takagi, you know me. I basically rely on my sixth sense to solve cases. If I haven't met the parties involved, I'm afraid I can't be of much help to you with this case. How about I take them and leave first?"

Takagi scratched his head: "That case is mainly handled by Inspector Megure. If you want to know the details, you can call Inspector Megure. As for me, I need to investigate that thug who was following me..."

At this point, he sighed helplessly: "I had an appointment with someone at five o'clock, and I don't know if this matter can be resolved before five o'clock."

Kudo Kazuma's eyes lit up: "You made an appointment? Are you going on a date with Officer Sato?"

Takagi froze for a moment, then blushed instantly: "Edogawa-kun, you...you're talking nonsense! It was an appointment with the person involved in the case, not a date. Besides, I don't...I don't have any feelings for Inspector Sato..."

He was stammering when Sato suddenly walked in: "Officer Takagi."

Takagi's face flushed bright red instantly, and he stood up straight abruptly.

Kudo Kazuma couldn't help but laugh—Takagi, you still say you don't have anything for Sato!

Sato didn't notice Takagi's unusual behavior, but instead looked at Kudo Kazuma: "Huh? Edogawa-kun is here too? It's Edogawa-kun, isn't it? It's been so long since I've seen Kudo-kun."

Kudo Kazuma smiled and nodded: "It's me, Edogawa Kazuma. This is my friend. Something happened, and I'm here to take these two younger sisters away."

No sooner had he finished speaking than he received a half-moon glare from Ai Haibara.

Takagi took a few deep breaths, and only after noticing that the burning sensation on her face was not so obvious did she turn to look at Sato.

"Officer Sato, weren't you with Inspector Megure at the headquarters for this bank robbery? Why are you back all of a sudden?"

“I came back because of the case,” Sato said. “The bank manager who was robbed called last night and said he suddenly remembered something and wanted me to meet him here at 2 p.m. today. He and his wife will come together then.”

Aside from exchanging greetings, Aso, who hadn't said a word, noticed something interesting: "Why did you come with your wife? Wasn't it something he suddenly decided to do?"

Takagi said with a puzzled look, "That's strange. Last night, the store manager's wife also called me a similar time. She said she had some ideas about the thugs, but she said they would come at 5 p.m. and that they would come alone..."

Sato explained, "The person in charge mentioned this. He said that since his wife had been kidnapped by that robber, he was worried that she might be in danger, so he thought they could come together before it got dark."

Kazuma Kudo narrowed his eyes slightly.

According to the laws of science, if something that has been agreed upon is suddenly changed, it's highly likely that the murderer is planning something.

Anyway, it's almost two o'clock, so he might as well stay and see what happens first.

With that thought in mind, he became hesitant to leave.

On the other end of the line, Sato was quietly asking Takagi if Miyamoto Yumi had told him anything he shouldn't have said last night because he had drunk too much. Suddenly, a police officer appeared, saluted, and loudly announced, "Reporting, Officer Sato! I've brought the head of the Toto Bank over!"

"Invite him in!"

He was a round-faced man in his fifties with a small mustache below his nose.

He glanced at his watch as soon as he came in: "I finally made it..."

Takagi asked, somewhat puzzled, "Didn't your wife come with you?"

"Um, my wife suddenly had to go to the bank, so we agreed to meet here. Hasn't he arrived yet?"

He glanced at his watch again and said, "That's strange, is she still sleeping?"

Asagi Narumi leaned closer to Kudo Kazuma and whispered, "Didn't he come along because he was worried about his wife's safety? Why did they split up again?"

Kudo Kazuma smirked: "From beginning to end, whether it was to come together or go separately, it was the old man himself who said it. Whether his wife knew or not is another matter."

Asagi Minoru had also read the report on Kudo Kazuma's case-solving and immediately asked curiously, "Do you think there's something wrong with him?"

As the two were talking, the bank manager, Keizo Masuo, was already using the Metropolitan Police Department's office phone to call his home, and while making the call, he checked his watch again...

"I'm already at the Metropolitan Police Department."

“Yes, wait a moment…” Masuo Keizo said, handing the phone to Takagi who was standing next to him.

Takagi took the phone and started chatting with Mrs. Masuo.

Kudo Kazuma then leaned closer to Sato and whispered, "This guy's suspicious. He's checked his watch three times in the few minutes he's been here, like he's timing something perfectly."

"Furthermore, he said his wife had to go to the bank first and then meet him at the Metropolitan Police Department, and that his wife was still sleeping at home—if his wife really had to go to the bank first and then come to see you, she would have left before him, right? How could he say that she was still sleeping?"

Theoretically, no one should trust someone like Kazuma Kudo who relies on intuition for reasoning, but as we've seen it many times, I've come to believe it to some extent.

Upon hearing Kudo Kazuma's words, Sato's expression hardened slightly: "You mean, he might be lying?"

Just then, Takagi, who was holding the phone, spoke up with some confusion: "But weren't you supposed to come here with your husband at 2 PM this afternoon? It was your husband who said so."

"What? Never heard of it before?"

Before Takagi could finish wondering, Masuo Keizo was already furious: "What? What nonsense is she spouting!"

As he spoke, he reached for the microphone in Takagi's hand. Takagi was tripped by Masuo Keizo and stumbled. When he grabbed the table, his finger happened to be pressing the speakerphone button.

Then, they all heard Mrs. Masuo's scream...

Kazuma Kudo shrugged: "Oh ho, perfect alibi."

Asami Narumi and Ai Haibara both looked at him.

A moment later, Sato drove his car with Takagi and Keizo Masuo on board towards the Masuo residence. Behind them, a minivan followed closely, even as Sato accelerated.

In the Balin car, sitting in the passenger seat, Asagi Masami had a half-smile on his face: "You always say that your elementary school brother is the Grim Reaper, but he's not here today at all—Edogawa-kun, you're not the Grim Reaper's twin brother, are you?"

Ai Haibara, sitting in the back seat, added, "He may not have encountered as many cases as his brother, but it seems like every single one of them is quite serious..."

Haruka Haibara covered her mouth and laughed, "Perhaps they are twin Grim Reapers, only the combined power of the two is greater."

While driving, Kazuma Kudo said irritably, "If you keep talking nonsense, I'll take all three of you into a ditch!"

Just kidding, he's only responsible for absorbing souls at most. Who wants to be in the same category as the Grim Reaper?
