Conan stared blankly with half-moon eyes.

That brat is talking nonsense again, making him worry for nothing!

but……

"I said, Lan is taking a national mock exam tomorrow. After the exam, should she go to the hospital for a check-up?"

Conan, hands on his hips, looked at his younger brother: "I always feel like you're just fooling me. My injury took many days to heal, and your previous injury was too serious. Without a hospital examination report, I'm not at ease."

"Alright, alright." Faced with his older brother's persistent gaze, Kudo Kazuma gave in. "But I don't want to go to the Beika Central Hospital we went to before. I'd like to find a small private hospital for a regular check-up, is that alright?"

Mihana Central Hospital still has his surgical records from half a month ago. If those doctors compare his physical condition before and after, wouldn't they consider his recovery speed to be superhuman?

Conan immediately dragged his younger brother to the second-floor office and told Ran and Kogoro Mouri about what had happened.

Xiaolan's eyes lit up: "By the way, should we also get Dad a physical exam?"

Before Conan confronted her, Kogoro Mouri had been given many tranquilizer injections. Even now, he occasionally gets one. Since he's going to have a medical check-up anyway, she'd feel more at ease if Kogoro Mouri had one too.

Kogoro Mouri had no objections: "Then let's wait until you finish your exams. I know a pretty good private hospital that a client mentioned before; we can go there then."

After discussing the matter, Kudo Kazuma decided to go to Agasa's house.

When Conan learned that Kazuma Kudo was going to find Ai Haibara, he immediately stopped him.

"Then you don't need to go. The Junior Detective League has arranged to go to Beika Department Store this afternoon. They'll all gather here in a bit. If you need Haibara something, just tell her then."

Sure enough, a short while later, Professor Agasa arrived with Ai Haibara.

As Kudo Kazuma expected, the "surprise" she was going to mention was about skincare products.

Once she had a research target that interested her, Ai Haibara's efficiency was incredibly high. In the past two weeks, she not only confirmed that the research was feasible, but also had already achieved preliminary research results.

"Following your approach, I reduced the dosage to a certain extent and tried to reduce the side effects. I then conducted an experiment—eight out of ten sample mice survived. This experiment should be able to continue."

"There are some reports I recently compiled in the lab; you can take a look."

Kudo Kazuma shook his head repeatedly: "No need for that, I can't understand it anyway."

"Never mind then." Ai Haibara turned and walked towards Conan and the others. "We're going to play now, bye-bye."

Kudo Kazuma shrugged, watched the others leave, and then walked back. On the way, he received a call from an unknown number.

The person making the call was Rum.

Hearing the mixed male and female voices, Kudo Kazuma frowned: "Why are you calling? Tell me where you are?"

He had previously used [Sound Bewitchment] to ask, and only learned from Gin that Rum was on an island in southern Kyushu. But there are so many islands, big and small, in southern Kyushu, finding Rum is like finding a needle in a haystack. He can't exactly drive an Apache and shoot them all, can he?

However, it's not entirely hopeless; by investigating slowly, we can eventually find Rum's location.

Rum's electronically synthesized, neither-male-nor-female voice sneered, "Danpo, without orders, you interfered in someone else's mission. Do you know what you've done and what you'll face?"

"Isn't that obvious? Of course I know that."

Kudo Kazuma said confidently, "I traveled tens of thousands of miles alone and risked my life to save the organization's top assassins and high-ranking officers; I helped the organization save two hard-won armed helicopters; and I also killed a lot of gang members over there, relieving a lot of pressure on the South American branch!"

"With all the credit I've received, shouldn't both Gin and the South American branch thank me? Even the boss should at least give me some reward, right?"

Rum on the other end of the phone was clearly taken aback.

After all, putting aside Danpo's violation of organizational rules, everything he did was indeed worthy of praise.

He gritted his teeth and said, "Danpo, your words are a bit too arrogant..."

"There's nothing I can do about it." Kudo Kazuma tilted his head and continued confidently, "After all, from childhood to adulthood, I've never failed a mission. On the contrary, I'm widely recognized for my many achievements."

"But some people, they made huge mistakes on missions before, and they're still affecting the organization now. And they still have the nerve to openly order others around and secretly trip them up. How can these old fogies have the nerve to call others arrogant?"

"Never failed?" Even in synthesized speech, you could tell Rum was grinding his teeth to powder. "Hmph, last time I gave you the task of recruiting Scrooge, and you killed him instead. What is that if not a failure?"

Kudo Kazuma scoffed, "Ridiculous. You're about to drop the pretense of decency, so stop pretending. What kind of mission do you call a mission?"

"You! Danpo!" Rum was furious and his voice rose several octaves. "Don't think you can disregard the organization just because Gin is protecting you!"

"Don't try to slander me out of thin air. When have I ever disregarded the organization?" Kudo Kazuma sneered. "I just don't respect you!"

"Like I said, if you're so capable, then hide forever and don't let me find you!"

No sooner had he finished speaking than Rum cursed angrily and hung up the phone.

Kazuma Kudo shrugged and casually put his phone in his pocket.

Before they had gone far, before they even reached the Edogawa residence, they received another call from Vermouth.

"Wow, Kazuma, that's great! So that's why you rushed out of the hospital that day—you went to save Gin!"

Vermouth's tone carried a hint of schadenfreude: "You went all the way to South America and caused a ruckus, and you almost drove Rum to his death? Interesting, very interesting..."

How did Vermouth find out in just a few minutes?

Could it be...

Kazuma Kudo rolled his eyes: "Did Rum go to you to complain?"

It's ridiculous. Rum is so old, how can he still be learning to tattle like him?

Vermouth chuckled lightly: "He couldn't bring himself to complain to Gin about this, so he had no choice but to come to me."

At this point, her tone suddenly became much more serious: "By the way, I'll give you a mission on behalf of the boss—since you rescued those two attack helicopters, you'll be in charge of covering the organization's logistics and transferring them to a secret base on a southern outlying island."

"The organization has made all the preparations, and theoretically everything is foolproof. But just in case, you'd better create some big commotion in Tokyo these next couple of days to keep the local government busy. That would make things go more smoothly, wouldn't it?"

Kudo Kazuma smirked, "Is there a reward for completing such a troublesome task?"

"As expected of you, asking for a reward before even completing the mission." Vermouth chuckled. "The boss himself said that upon completion of the mission, he'll give you the plane Gin promised you. And..."

"After successfully completing the mission, the boss wants to see you."

After hanging up the phone, Kazuma Kudo sighed.

I suddenly feel a bit nostalgic for Teiji Moriya.

By Death God, is there anyone who can set off some big bombs to cause trouble?

Or perhaps he should go and join the group of reckless teenagers first.

What if a miracle happens if I follow my own Grim Reaper brother?
