That was quite offensive.

Huo Shen glanced at the person behind him expressionlessly, then sneered coldly:

Do you think everyone is like you, targeting the people they grew up with?

They've known each other for over a decade, and they know each other inside and out.

Dr. Zhao's face stiffened, and he opened his mouth, speechless.

In this round, Dr. Zhao, who had been philandering and ended up sleeping with the grass near his own nest, was destined to lose.

But he wasn't about to be outdone, so he strode after Huo Shen, who was heading into the clubhouse, and asked the question that had been on his mind for a long time:

"There are countless women in this circle—innocent, alluring, intelligent, and cunning—why did you choose Xie Junfei?"

"That young girl does have some of your style from back then, but there are so many smart people in the world, how could you willingly let her take advantage of you!"

His voice was quite loud, and the surrounding waiters, who were wary of gossip about their host family, all hid in corners.

Huo Shen abruptly stopped, turning to look at his childhood friend with a sharp gaze:

"If you can't speak, get out. Nobody's forcing you to open your mouth."

Seeing that his childhood friend was unwilling to talk, Dr. Zhao could only raise his hands in surrender:

"Okay, okay, I was too talkative. I won't say it again."

"Xie Junfei is the best, no one else can compare, okay?"

Huo Shen snorted coldly, walked straight to the bar, picked up the Mandheling barista handed to him, lowered his eyes and took a small sip, his expression softening slightly:

"I'll say it again, I'm serious this time."

“She’s different from the others. Don’t compare her to those women.”

Dr. Zhao unscrewed the bottle of water, took a big gulp, and perfunctorily agreed:

"I know you're like an iron tree that can bloom, yet you're still hanging yourself on one tree, alright?"

As he spoke, he muttered to himself:

"I really don't understand what you're thinking."

“We’re at a position where we could have any kind of woman we wanted, but you insist on staying chaste like a monk.”

Huo Shen wasn't deaf; upon hearing this, he coldly mocked from the sidelines:

“I recorded what you said, and I’ll send it to your brother tonight.”

"You'll be kneeling on durians tonight."

Hearing his friend pinpoint his weakness, Dr. Zhao irritably ran a hand through his long hair:

"Okay, okay, I won't say anything more. If you're a good brother, don't mess with me." That's how I appeased him.

"I know what's wrong with you today."

"Isn't it just that I wronged your little girl during the day? I apologize, isn't that enough?"

Huo Shen raised an eyebrow:

"Is an apology all you're going to do?"

Dr. Zhao kicked the green plant at his feet in frustration:

"Don't worry, I know her older brother is starting a business recently. I'll help him out, okay?"

"Your whole family is a den of foxes! She's cunning and treacherous, and you're cunning and treacherous! You're vengeful and vindictive!"

Sitting in the luxury car, Xie Junfei sneezed loudly, rubbing his nose, wondering who was cursing him.

By the time I got home, it was already past nine o'clock at night.

Xie Junfei changed her shoes and entered the living room, only to find her older brother, who had been busy recently, sitting on the sofa.

Seeing his younger sister return home, the older brother greeted her with a smile:

"Little sister's back? Did she just get out of class?"

Xie Junfei shook her head, placed the pastry box on the coffee table, and opened it:

"School let out early. I went out to play for a while. I've already told Sixth Brother."

"I ate out for dinner. These are some takeout snacks. Brother, try them and see if you like them."

Before resigning, my older brother was a leader, and he could tell at a glance that these exquisitely presented pastries were not bought from a roadside stall.

Then, thinking of his younger sister's classmates who were all wealthy and influential, his expression softened slightly.

It seems he didn't go to bars or nightclubs to fool around.

Xie Junfei hadn't thought that much about it. While eating, he looked up and asked his older brother:

"Brother, how's your startup going lately?"

The eldest brother put down the pastries in his hand and sighed softly:

"The team is almost assembled, but we're missing some technical personnel."

"The technical staff I need have high professional skills, but truly capable people are unwilling to come to our small company."

"That's why I'm worried now."

Xie Junfei listened carefully to her elder brother's troubles and gently comforted him:

"Don't worry, brother. If we can't recruit people, we'll find them eventually. Things will work themselves out."

"If all else fails, I'll think of something for you."

As she spoke, she immediately thought of Huo Shen, who had just told her to feel at ease using her.

Just as I was about to take out my phone to ask Uncle Huo for the person, my older brother's phone rang.

He's the new vice president that my older brother hired.

The deputy general manager was a young man, whose emotions were always on display, and whose voice was so loud that Xie Junfei could hear him clearly even without the speakerphone on:

"Boss, several big shots from the Zhao family just called me, saying they want to switch jobs to our company!"

The older brother was stunned, and asked again to confirm:

"Are you sure it's the Zhao family, the industry leader?"

That vice president was certain:

"Yes! It's the Zhao family! Those big shots are exactly the kind of talent we need most!"

"Boss, come to the company for a meeting. Let's have a serious discussion about their salaries!"

The older brother immediately got up, ready to return to the company.

Xie Junfei tactfully moved aside to make way, smiling as he looked at his elder brother:

"See what I'm saying: 'When you think you've reached the end of the road, the boat will straighten itself when it reaches the bridge.'"

The eldest brother finally breathed a sigh of relief:

"Yes, little sister, you're right."

"You are truly our family's lucky star!"

Xie Junfei knew immediately whose handiwork it was to get the wealthy Zhao family to release the person.

While Huo Shen was still chatting casually with Dr. Zhao at the club, his daughter called.

Huo Shen answered the call in front of his childhood friend, and upon hearing the sweet voice of the girl on the other end, his expression immediately melted away like an iceberg.

"what happened?"

"He who takes a gift is bound to be obligated to give it," Xie Junfei said on the phone, her words as sweet as honey.

"Of course, I'm here to thank Uncle Huo."

"Thank you for helping my brother. Uncle Huo, would you like some cookies? I'll bake some for you."

She had barely finished speaking when Dr. Zhao on the other end of the phone exclaimed:

"Young lady, you've thanked the wrong person! It was clearly my family who went to help, why are you only thanking your Uncle Huo and not me?"

Hearing Dr. Zhao criticize him like that, Xie Junfei chuckled:

"Dr. Zhao, I'm just young, not stupid."

"If it weren't for Uncle Huo's help, with the Zhao family's temperament of keeping even a fart to themselves in bed, how could they possibly have released the person?"

Hearing Xie Junfei's sharp tongue, which was just like Huo Shen's, Dr. Zhao felt that his future was completely ruined.

Alright, here comes another sharp-tongued devil.

Huo Shen looked at his friend, whose face was ashen and who looked like a dead dog, and curled the corners of his lips. He then spoke softly to Xie Junfei on the other end of the phone:

"Do it if you like, otherwise don't bother."

"Just send me a message when you're done, and we'll meet at Lishui Tower."

Xie Junfei hummed in agreement twice, then was supervised by Huo Shen to put down her phone and climb into bed to sleep.

Dr. Zhao watched as his domineering childhood friend supervised the little girl, forbidding her from staying up late, and could only sigh:

"Huo Shen, now I truly believe you're serious."

“You’re no longer the good brother who used to hang out with me among the ladies; now you’re just a hardworking old father.”

After saying that, Dr. Zhao noticed that Huo Shen rolled his eyes at him.

Before he could even make a joke, he saw the man casually pick up his suit jacket draped over the back of the chair, put one hand in his pocket, and walk away.

Outside Lishui Tower, the Huo family's luxury cars were parked. As soon as Huo Shen got into the car, he sent a message to Dr. Zhao:

Huo Shen: "Thank you for your comments."

Huo Shen: "In return, I have sent the recording of your conversation with me at Lishui Tower, in which you confessed to me that you went out to indulge in debauchery, to your brother."

Huo Shen: "It's getting late, let's go home soon."

Huo Shen: "Good luck."
