Berserk: The Prophet

Chapter 98 Seranti (7) - By the Campfire

.........

Soaked to the bone, Trunks could only take off his clothes and hang them on the drying rack to dry. He'd rushed out in such a hurry; how could a careless boy like him have brought spare clothes? Luckily, McGill had a black robe he could wear temporarily, though it was a bit big, but it was better than running around naked. Even though it wasn't a big deal since they were all men, it still felt incredibly embarrassing...

Anyway, we'll be able to get to Lorraine Town by noon tomorrow, so buying clothes and such won't be a problem.

Since returning, Seranti has been sitting silently on the wood beside him, even though his arm has been reattached.

"Your share, Uncle McGill specially added ginger to our soup, have some." Trunks took a clean cloth from inside the tent, dried his hair, and handed the beef and ginger soup that Uncle McGill had just served to Seranty.

Seranti was clearly still annoyed, and turned his head away without even looking at the bowl of food.

Trunks: "..."

"Tch, if you don't want to eat, I won't serve you anymore." Trunks blew on the broth, took a sip, and smacked his lips. He asked on purpose, and drinking a big bowl of beef and ginger soup was simply too satisfying.

"You really won't drink?" Trunks grabbed another bowl and sat down next to him, eagerly joining in the fun.

"I won't eat!" *Gulp...*

Seranti was stubborn, but his stomach rumbled honestly.

Seranti: "..."

Trunks: "Hahaha, your body is more honest than your mouth. Eat up, eat up."

Seranti quietly moved a little further away, unable to smell, hear, or eat.

Trunks: "..." "Does he expect me to feed you?"

"Then feed me. If you dare to feed me, I dare to eat." Seranti said irritably. Annoying, can't you just stay away from him?

Speechless... How come he's even harder to appease than a woman? Okay, fine, he's never appeased a woman before. How can this man be so ungrateful? Considering he's having such a bad day, I'll let it slide...

"Come on, open your mouth, ah~" Trunks scooped up a spoonful of broth, blew on it, and handed it to Thranduil's mouth.

Seranti: "..." (Speechless)

Now that he'd already said it, how could he refuse? Seranti silently took a small sip. The taste was alright, but it was so strange... it made him feel a little embarrassed...

"Yes, yes, eat the meat too."

Trunks stuffed the chunk of meat into Seranty's mouth, and prepared to scoop out another spoonful to feed him, as if feeding the little guy was quite fun.

"...Alright, I can eat by myself." Thranduil took the bowl of soup from Trunks's hand. This guy is so annoying. He poked at the bottom of the bowl with his spoon and started eating.

Trunks looked at him with a smile but said nothing. The scars on his face looked quite deep. He'd go to the merchant guild in town and get him some medicine. It was a pity to waste such a handsome face. It was nice to look at him in person. This was the first time he'd fought so well. The people in the castle were all secretive when fighting him, calling him "young master" respectfully but not daring to speak to him as an equal. They were all dishonest.

The bowl of broth was quickly emptied, and Seranti, who said he wasn't hungry, seemed to be enjoying his meal quite a bit.

"Would you like another bowl?"

"Uh...no way..." Thranduil's bowl was snatched away by Trunks, who then filled another bowl.

"Eat up, this is the last bowl. It would be a waste if you didn't eat it." Trunks smiled; he really liked this new companion.

"Uh... okay then." It was the first time Seranti had been treated so gently, and he was a little unaccustomed to it.

Seeing the water droplets still clinging to the man's hair, Trunks picked up a clean cloth and began to dry Thranduil's hair. Drying it like that would give him a headache. When he wasn't talking, he really resembled the dolls his sister used to play with. Curious and mischievous, Trunks pinched Thranduil's pointed ears. They were icy cold, and the ears seemed to have a mind of their own, twitching and shaking Trunks's fingers away, as agile as cat ears. It was as if Trunks had discovered a new continent!

Seranti: "...That's enough."

Trunks: "...Hahaha, why do elves have ears that look like a cat's?"

Seranti: "...How should I know? Stop pinching me, it's uncomfortable."

Seranti put the empty bowl aside, took Trunks's restless hand in her hand, and felt the coldness on his slender fingertips.

"Why are you so cold? Go warm yourself by the fire. I'm feeling a bit cold too, come on, come on."

The two men, one in black and one in red, wrapped in what looked like two sheets, huddled around the campfire, warming their hands and feet. Trunks recounted his past and his current dream—to experience an adventure where no one is judged and to leave his mark on every corner of Barkley.

“...That’s really amazing.” Seranti picked up a branch and put it on the fire to heat it up.

"Haha, what about you? Is there anything you want to do?"

"I..." Seranti gazed at the moon in the sky, the image of her mother appearing in her mind. Would death bring her relief? But... it seemed there were still so many things left undone.

"I have no idea..."

Perhaps I really need a pleasant adventure and trip to figure out what I want to do. I've been confined in that castle for too long. It seems like going on an adventure with this young man in front of me is a good choice.

"Haha, then I hope you can figure things out during our journey together?!" Trunks slumped to the ground, gazing at the stars, encouraging his new friend.

Seranti watched him, swinging his sparkling stick. It was wonderful. Trunks seemed to be the kind of person who was very energetic. He had never met anyone with such a personality. He was so pure that it was very comfortable to be around him.

"The night sky is so beautiful tonight, Seranthi." Trunks lay on the ground, holding his head in his hands, looking at the full moon and the starry sky in the darkness. The natural scent of the breeze was wonderful; it was the taste of freedom.

Seranti gazed at the night sky, tried to relax on the ground, took a deep breath, and was instantly captivated by the beautiful sight. It was the first time he had ever paid attention to the view from the sky. Every night he was cooped up in the castle, and nighttime often meant bad things were about to happen. When he was caught, he was either sick or traveling in an open oxcart. This view was wonderful. The mysteries of the sun, moon, planets, and divination described in the books were truly too profound. At this moment, Seranti just wanted to quietly appreciate this scene.

.........

early morning.

Trunks was sleeping like an octopus, clinging to Seranty. No wonder he dreamt of encountering a sea monster on the ship. But last night was the first time he had ever slept so soundly.

As the noise outside the tent mingled with the aroma of breakfast wafting inside, Trunks, who had been snoring softly, finally woke up. "Is it time to eat?"

She got up so quickly that it almost stunned Seranti.

A pleasant breakfast followed without incident, and they arrived in Lorraine before noon. Lorraine had developed well in recent years and was now a relatively large city. The group found a tavern and settled their horses. Trunks, Seranty, and the others went to the market to sell their spoils and buy clothes and equipment. They had left in such a hurry that they hadn't even worn plate armor to avoid the old man's notice. The group was only wearing leather armor and the necessary equipment. They definitely hadn't brought any lances; they could just find them on the battlefield. Apart from money, horses, and enough rations for two days, they hadn't brought anything else.

"Very good, very good. This outfit suits you well, Thranduil." Trunks nodded in satisfaction as he looked at Thranduil in his new clothes.

"Oh my, sir, are you going on a trip? Your wife looks so beautiful in this outfit!" The tailor shop owner's eyes lingered on Seranti, praising him endlessly.

Seranti: "..."

Trunks: "Pfft...cough cough cough..."
