Berserk: The Prophet

Chapter 30 Poisoned Wine

............

"I'm sorry to trouble you to stay here. We only start working tonight. I'll have someone bring you some food later. Please rest here for now."

The silver-haired woman slept until noon, and Green stayed outside all morning, but he didn't see Goni come out.

The woman had set up a room that resembled a warehouse, filled with yellowed, shriveled straw, corncobs, and firewood—all seemingly for starting a fire.

"Okay, please."

Green responded politely. After all, she was Cardi's old flame, and it was already quite kind of him to find a place for her to rest. Moreover, the woman was very beautiful and was also Guni's mother, so Green had a good impression of her.

"Hmm~, what a sensible child. I live in that room. Call me if you need anything~, Green." The woman was quite satisfied with Green's attitude, and her lazy and charming voice was enough to make one's ears tingle.

The woman stretched and closed the door before going back inside, seemingly wanting to sleep a little longer.

Green didn't expect her to remember to call someone to bring him some food, so he simply used his hoodie to cushion his head and lay down to rest.

After all, only with a good rest can you be in good shape for the night... to go kill someone.

............

"Why do I have to deliver the food...?"

A familiar voice mumbled, and footsteps approached from outside the door; he was just about to go out to play at this time of afternoon.

"squeak"

The door opened, and Gerry finished muttering to himself, holding a wooden plate with a piece of bread and some vegetables in one hand, and a glass of milk in the other.

However, what came into view was that familiar yet hateful face!

That wretched person is lying comfortably on the ground, arms wrapped around their head, fast asleep!

It was actually in his warehouse?! And I was supposed to be delivering food to this guy?!

Gerry was so angry he almost ground his molars to powder while holding the wooden plate.

Green was so tired that he didn't wake up until Gerry opened the door. He opened his eyes groggily and found the other person staring at him with an unfriendly expression.

"Fuck!"

Almost instantly, he remembered the bad things he had done before. Green was so frightened that he tried to get up from the ground and run away, but he was no match for his opponent's speed.

"Splash!" A cup of hot milk poured directly over Green's head.

"Paji!"

Immediately afterwards, a plate of food was shoved directly onto Green's face, the breadcrumbs and milk mixed together and crumbled, with a few pieces of vegetable stuck to it.

Gerry was still not satisfied and grabbed a fire poker next to him to hit him. Green saw this and was furious. He didn't care that food was splattered all over his face and quickly scrambled to the side. Unfortunately, the warehouse was only so big.

"You bastard!! What are you doing in my house?!"

"No!! Stop hitting me, I was wrong, I was wrong."

Gerry chased Green in the warehouse with a fire poker, while Green ran around the firewood in the warehouse, unable to escape from either side. He was hit a few times and begged for mercy as he ran.

Just as he was about to run around in circles to the door, and Gerry's fire poker was about to strike, thank God, the door finally opened.

"Bang!"

Just in time for the life-or-death moment, Green seized the opportunity and used the door to catch Gerry's full-force attack squarely. Then, he slammed the door shut, braced it with a small stick, and quickly surveyed the surrounding terrain before expertly climbing behind the eaves to hide.

"Phew, that was so exciting! What a little devil!"

After finishing everything, Green lay on the roof, patting his wildly beating chest, finally able to breathe a sigh of relief. Encountering something like this felt more exciting than killing someone on the battlefield.

Hearing Gunnie's angry roar below, Green could guess with his eyes closed how furious her pretty little face must be.

.........

"hiss..."

It turned out that when Gerry hit the door, the fire poker made his arm ache so badly that it flew out of his hand and almost made him fall. He staggered and barely managed to keep from falling by supporting himself on the ground with his hand, which was terribly numb.

Seeing Green slip out, I tried to chase after him, but I never expected that this cunning guy would dare to lock me in the house!

"You damned bastard, you're dead meat as soon as I get out of here!!!"

"Let me out and we'll fight!!"

With a "thud," the small wooden stick was easily broken by Gerry with a few forceful movements. It seemed that he used too much force, and Gerry fell hard on his backside.

Then, he menacingly surveyed the area with a fire poker in hand.

"You bastard! I hope I never see you again!!"

Gerry roared in the yard, angrily throwing the fire poker back into the warehouse. He shook the clothes he had just put on that day. Damn it, he had to dress up again before he could go out.

Green chuckled to himself on the roof. So fierce at such a young age, who would dare to marry her? Is it really true that even a little girl is this formidable in this day and age?

Ouch, that hit my back really hard! That woman really went all out! Green rubbed his shoulder and shook his head. It seems like it's best to avoid messing with her.

............

I spent a peaceful afternoon, and while Goni was out, I retrieved my hood. As night fell, it was time to get moving.

"Hey! You serving the drinks, hurry up!"

Drunk and oblivious, Oka yelled at the pageboy who was serving him drinks, and then lecherously groped the ample breasts of two prostitutes, as if this would make him forget reality and indulge in his fantasies, while muttering a woman's name under his breath.

“I’ve tried my best…” Oka buried his face in a woman’s arms, and was comforted by a prostitute next to him.

Seeing that the time was right, Green, like the waiter who was hiding here, served several glasses of ale in the beer hall. One of the glasses, which was laced with drugs, was the closest to Oka. He had to watch Oka drink this glass, and only if Oka drank it would it be considered a perfect assassination.

"..."

That's... that outfit... what is he trying to do here? Although my mother told me not to go to the front hall...

Gerry hesitated for a moment, then casually smeared some mud on his face and followed.

.........

"Hey! Kid..." A drunken man lunged at Green, who dodged the large, intoxicated man with a quick reflex. The man's eyes made Green very uncomfortable; they were eyes full of lust.

Green glanced at the drunken man, ignored him, and turned to disappear into the crowd to continue his task.

"Wine...wine..." Oka mumbled drunkenly.

"Your wine, sir."

Green brought the wine laced with the drug to Oka's side, and then gave the rest of the wine to the soldiers standing next to Oka.

Since I was there to help Oka relax, and Oka is the boss, it was only right to serve him drinks first. Luckily, there was no fight over the glasses.

After all, assassinations are always a matter of luck.

Just as Oka picked up his wine glass, and Green was preparing to make a clean getaway, a commotion behind him caught Green's attention.

"Huh? Where did this little page come from?! I've never seen you before."

"Hehe, how did you get all muddy?" A disgusting yet familiar drunken voice spoke from behind.

"What are you doing? Let me go!" The familiar voice was filled with anger and seemed to tremble slightly. The child's voice sounded so powerless in this situation.

Green turned around abruptly, his pupils shrinking sharply—it was her!?
