Berserk: The Prophet

Chapter 256 The Fall of the "Fire Dragon's Nest" (19) - The Past of This Place <2&

"...Winged dragons with two wings and two feet are nothing more than servants of the dragons." Samylford talked with her for a long time, but being young, it easily felt tired.

So it said, "I need fire, lots and lots of fireworks to hatch me..."

Fortunately, winters in Grant were very cold back then, and people needed charcoal fires or fireplaces to keep warm in order to get through the cold winter days.

The early seafarers had just arrived in this land, and although it was still cold, it was much better than the extremely cold places they had been to before.

Fairies and vast forests still exist on this land, as do many wild beasts and herds of deer.

With abundant mineral resources, ironware was no longer a rare commodity.

The dragon egg and the priestess spent a very pleasant time together.

Later, it wasn't just Benny who learned about the dragon egg; her half-brother, Edwalt, a less-than-honorable illegitimate child, also learned about it.

Edvard's mother was a maidservant who came with Benedict's mother, but she died from excessive bleeding after giving birth to him. Benedict and her brother grew up together, like siblings.

Later, under Benny's meticulous care, life began to stir within the dragon egg. Everyone knew that the priestesses of the Ocean Hunting Tribe loved to warm themselves by the charcoal fire and hearth, regardless of the season.

"Hang in there a little longer, Little Dragon, you'll hatch soon," Benny said softly, her eyes filled with anticipation.

Meanwhile, Edwalt stood to the side, his eyes gleaming with a different light. He was filled with ambition for this mysterious dragon egg, secretly plotting how he would use it to change his own destiny once the dragon hatched.

However, the dragon has never cared about the world's conflicts. In the days after hatching, in order to avoid being noticed, the meat was always provided by Edvarut.

Whenever Edvard is in danger, Semirfodo will also come to his aid, and the relationship between the three of them gradually becomes inseparable.

However, Edvarut's life in the tribe still seemed to be very bad, and when he came of age, his fiancée, whom he had arranged to marry in the mountain tribe, was taken away by her elder brother.

Edvarut's resentment grew wildly, and the loss of his fiancée became the final straw that broke the camel's back. On a dark and stormy night, he quietly arrived outside the cave where Samantabhadra resided, his face full of malice.

“Sai Mi Le Fu Duo, you and I are like brothers. Now that I have suffered this humiliation, you must help me get revenge.” Edvarut’s voice sounded particularly sinister in the quiet night.

Sai Maitreya Buddha awoke from his slumber, his enormous golden eyes filled with doubt: "What do you want me to do?"

“I want you to come with me to the tribe, to intimidate them, and to make them return my fiancée.” Edvarut clenched his fists, his eyes flashing with madness.

Saimile Buddha hesitated for a long time. It didn't like getting involved in human conflicts, but considering Edvard's usual care, it finally nodded.

As they arrived at the tribe, Edvarut's malice only grew stronger. Watching the tribe he had grown up in celebrating the wedding of their new chief, a terrible thought took root in his mind—he would kill his elder brother who had always bullied him, wipe out the tribe's enemies, and become the master of this place.

So, while Semirfodo intimidated everyone, Edvarut led his followers from other tribes in an attack, wielding sharp blades and beginning a frenzied slaughter.

The serpent was stunned by this sudden turn of events. It tried to stop Edvarut, only to find itself caught up in a bloody massacre.

"Edward, what are you doing! This isn't what we agreed on!" Semirafodo roared angrily.

"Hmph, you don't understand. Only by becoming the king of this tribe can I have everything." Edvarut had completely gone mad.

When Benny learned of this, she rushed over. Seeing the horrific scene before her, tears streamed down her face. "Edward, how could you do this?"

Edvarut showed no remorse whatsoever. He pointed at Beni and Semileford and said fiercely, "If you dare to stop me, don't blame me for being impolite!"

Bene looked at her once-familiar brother, now so strange and cruel, and her heart was filled with immense grief. She looked at Semilefodo, hoping it could stop Edvard from continuing down the wrong path.

“Saimile Fodo, we can’t let him continue like this, it’s wrong!!” Benny’s voice was choked with sobs. No matter what, she didn’t want to see the tribe killing each other.

Samuelford was torn between his benefactor and an innocent life. But in the end, he made his choice; he didn't want to see Benedict Cumberbatch heartbroken and in tears.

Saimilai Buddha spread his enormous wings and stood in front of Edwalut.

"Edward, if you don't stop, I'll have no choice but to take action against you." The three-meter-tall young dragon's throat bobbed, and its voice was deep and slightly majestic.

Edvarut sneered, "What right do you have to stop me? Don't forget, I raised you. Without me, you would have starved to death long ago!"

"If I hadn't helped you through your most vulnerable period and hidden you away, these hunters would have already wanted to peel off your dragon scales and pull out your dragon tendons as trophies!" After saying this, he ignored Saimile Fudo's attempts to stop him and continued to charge into the tribe's crowd.

The dragon race, well aware of human nature, naturally knew that Edvart's words made sense, and it hesitated. Perhaps it shouldn't have gotten involved in this matter in the first place. If Edvart's only motives were revenge and his fiancée, Semirfodo wouldn't want to interfere.

"Get out of the way!" Edvarut roared, as the tribal hunters who had been protecting the new chieftain had been mostly cleared out.

He wanted to settle things with that leader, who was also his elder brother, and reclaim his fiancée and his dignity as a man!

“Saimila Buddha!!” Benedict cried out in anguish.

Seeing Benny in tears, Sai Maitreya Buddha fell silent.

...This human princess has never experienced bloodshed or slaughter, yet the world's rule has always been the survival of the fittest. The victor is king, the loser is villain—this is an unchanging law in any world.

It curled Benny up in the center with its tail and body; it was better not to look at the bloodshed...

No one interfered in the duel. Edvarut won, but became one-eyed. The old chieftain's son either died while hunting or was killed by Edvarut himself.

Even though he is an illegitimate child with a shameful past, he still carries royal blood and will inevitably become the new king of the tribe; this is the ancestral rule.

Edvarut stood in the center of the tribe, covered in blood, one eye empty and lifeless, blood dripping continuously down his cheek. He gripped a bloodstained blade tightly in his hand, and beside him lay his elder brother, already dead. The wedding ceremony for the new chief was now deathly silent, save for a gentle breeze that carried the stench of blood.
