Berserk: The Prophet
Chapter 101 Seranti (10) - The Exclusionary
"Half-elf?"
A Noldor woman looked him up and down, somewhat incredulously. His mother must be a Noldor, otherwise she wouldn't have inherited those distinctive pointed ears and eye and hair color.
She was tempted to persuade him to leave, because ahead lay the Aldarion's forces, who were gathering there to drive away those trying to enter the Noldor Forest.
Unfortunately, before they could issue a warning, the leader, who was extremely cruel to humans, slowly rode in on a Noldor elf horse with a golden, lustrous coat.
"The little tail is following us."
Aldarian's hearing was excellent, and he certainly knew that someone was following them. The scouts were busy patrolling for threats and did not want to delay their patrol because of someone who was clearly a half-elf, since a half-elf was not much of a threat and he couldn't keep up with the group; he was too slow.
Thranduil looked at the newcomer. The tall, richly dressed man was not wearing a hood, and his armor shone with an unusual luster. The exquisitely crafted lacquered wooden bow on his back exuded an unusual and mysterious aura. His handsome face, weathered by time, was full of mature charm, and his sapphire-like eyes were filled with a murderous intent. Just looking at Thranduil calmly was enough to command respect without anger. This elf had many lives on his hands.
Thranduil's emerald eyes and keen intuition told him that this man was the leader of the Noldor elves. Thranduil immediately dismounted, planted his sword in the ground, knelt on one knee, and bowed to the man.
“My name is Seranti. Please accept me into your service and let my sword shine beneath your horse, my lord.”
Aldarian's eyes were filled with disdain and hatred. He circled around Thranduil once and then left.
"Hmph, you're not welcome here, half-breed. Get out of this forest. The smell of human blood makes me sick."
Seranti looked on in disbelief. So, were half-bloods really that disgusting to those elves?
"Leave now, adults don't like mixed-race children."
The woman Noldor, standing nearby, warned Thranduil against any inappropriate behavior and tried to pull him up from the ground, as the boy looked very much like her childhood friend.
"My lord! Please let me join you, please accept me! I don't want to hide and mingle in the human world anymore! I've already..." killed that... bastard father...
Seranti choked up a little. After pursuing hope for so long, the most heartbreaking thing was not the permanent misery, but the thought that one was about to touch the dawn of hope only to be cruelly thrown into the abyss.
The woman Noldor realized something was wrong and immediately grabbed Seranthi from the ground and threw him onto his horse.
"Run!"
The woman Noldor kicked Thranduil's horse in the rump, and the horse immediately bolted into a gallop.
"kill him!!"
As expected, when Aldarian heard that the half-elf behind him dared to bargain with him, he was furious and gave an order. Dozens of elves in the large group sprang into action and rode off in pursuit.
Seranti, still reeling from the shock, hastily spurred his horse and fled, tears streaming down his face as he fled.
The other male Noldor ranger, who had just stopped Thranduil with the female Noldor, was about to give chase when the female Noldor grabbed his wrist and stopped him.
"Yalan?" The Noldor Ranger looked at the female Noldor with a puzzled expression.
“Give him a chance, Kuallis,” said the Noldor woman named Yalan softly.
“I don’t quite understand. That was just a half-elf whose bloodline was tainted. It’s a disgrace to elves! It’s not worth it for you to act like this. You’re too kind, Yalan.”
Kuaris inherited his father's blue eyes and the personality influenced by Aldarian. He did not understand Yalan's behavior, but today he decided to respect Yalan's advice and did not pursue her.
"He didn't want it to be this way..."
Noldo looked dejected. She had learned of her friend's whereabouts three years ago, but alas... However, the man who had humiliated her was dead, killed in a fire, and Yalan had seen the child in the elven realm; at least... his soul had not yet been tainted by human greed at that time.
Aldarian naturally saw what was happening here. He frowned, somewhat displeased, drew the Fallen Bow from his back, nocked an arrow, and pulled back the string.
"Hey~"
The arrow pierced the air, streaking towards Seranti, who was galloping away on horseback, with a streak of silver-white light.
A chilling fear that ran down my spine and into my feet, along with the aura of death, pierced me like a venomous snake. There was no time to think; I could only leave everything to the instinctive choices my body made.
He turned his body to the left to dodge.
"Pfft"
The sound of an arrow piercing flesh came from his right shoulder; had he not dodged quickly, it would have pierced his heart. Thranduil groaned, then spurred his horse forward, continuing its gallop.
"Whoosh whoosh whoosh" "Swoosh whoosh"
The elves chasing behind were also drawing their bows and shooting at their exhausted prey. Seranti used his only nimble left hand to knock down the powerful arrows, while his right hand, cold as ice, gripped the horse's reins tightly.
"Whoosh whoosh whoosh!" Another round of arrows came whistling like a whirlwind. Seranti was soon overwhelmed and his warhorse was hit by an arrow.
"Hee-hee-hee!!!" As if sensing its master's plight, tears streamed from its massive eyes. It raised its head and neighed, determined to break free with its companion who had led it across battlefields. What did it matter if the magnificent horses behind it ran faster? At least it had already surpassed them in speed while it was fighting desperately! It mustered all its strength and ran wildly, not stopping even when white foam came out of its mouth. The pain from the arrows only served to clear its mind for a moment.
Thrandt had already been hit by two arrows. He pulled out his hand and used his scimitar to cut off the arrowheads. Seeing that two elves were chasing after him, Thrandt fought desperately with the two elves. The clashing of swords was deafening. Suddenly, his warhorse charged even faster, leaving the two elves behind. It was burning with the last of its life force as it ran.
The two elves suddenly stopped chasing, and only then did Seranti dare to look ahead at the road. The sound of rushing water grew clearer and clearer in his ears, and ahead was a waterfall with a precipice.
"Stop, Art!!" Seranti yanked on the reins to stop it, but it wouldn't stop. The white foam at its mouth meant it was beyond saving. It had become terribly thin from the journey and then leaped to its death.
Escape, my companion, may my body shield you from the mud and sand.
With a "plop," the horse and the man plunged into the rapids one after the other.
The group of elves arrived at the shore somewhat bewildered, sighed, and went back to report dejectedly.
.........
Before he knew it, Thranduil's tears began to fall. Although he was mentally prepared not to be accepted by the elves, the feeling of being hunted down by the 'companion' he had been searching for was still unbearable. But he was no longer the Thranduil of the past. He would not give up the idea of living because of this. He just needed to be quiet and think about what to do next.
"hiss"
Seranti's two long, sharp canines, which were much longer than those of an ordinary person, tore off a piece of bloody flesh from the half-cooked snake, making a crunching sound as he chewed it.
That's right. Since they're unwilling to accept him, he'll slowly adapt to life in the human world. Yes, he's a mixed-race person, savage, and lowly! So what? He must live well, not for others, but for himself!!
