NBA's King of Talking

Chapter 64 Practicing on a Rest Day

The Thunder swept the Mavericks, avenging their elimination by the same opponent in the Western Conference Finals last season.

Jia Fei was also very happy. His team had advanced to the second round of the playoffs. Although he only played once and for one minute, he had accomplished his mission.

He completed the task of "winning an NBA series" and received a reward of 2000 points.

He immediately completed the exchange, and "Iverson's peak skill integration" also increased from 14% to 15%.

The Thunder swept the Mavericks, and their second-round opponent will be the winner of the Lakers-Nuggets series. The team members returned to Oklahoma City from Dallas on a chartered plane.

After returning to Oklahoma City, the team temporarily disbanded, rested for a day, and then regrouped to prepare for the second round of matches.

For Jia Fei, a day of rest? Not a single day of rest... because he hasn't played much. Of course, the rest is mainly for the rotating players, not for a benchwarmer like him.

The thought of still being a benchwarmer made Jia Fei a little unhappy. Although he had a good attitude, it didn't mean he lacked ambition or desire. Who wouldn't want to stand on the playoff stage and dominate? He also wanted to compete with Nowitzki, he also wanted to stand up and beat the Black Mamba, and he also wanted to crush the Heat's 03 super team.

It's not just that the coach won't allow it, his own abilities also don't allow it!

So far, the integration level is only 15%, which is still too low. Many special moves are only discounted in effect. It can't even beat Reggie in a one-on-one fight, so how could it possibly beat the top-tier powerhouses in the league like Running Man and Blacksmith!

He can only play it safe and develop his skills cautiously. The good thing is that as a rookie, he had some highlights this season and proved himself, which allowed him to stay in the league. Moreover, he is only 20 years old, still very young, and has plenty of opportunities to create his own basketball legend.

May 8th was a day of rest for the Thunder, and Reggie came early to call Jia Fei to go to practice together.

While in Reggie's car, Jia Fei asked curiously, "You train so hard, is there a story behind it?"

Reggie sighed and said, "I wish I had a story, but I didn't. We made it to the second round, we won a round of the playoffs, you know what? This was my first playoff run in my NBA career! We made it to the second round, but I didn't feel anything because I barely played any games..."

"Am I not?" Jia Fei retorted.

“Yes, you are too, so I came to call you!” Reggie looked at Jia Fei with amusement.

"Why did you call me?" Jia Fei had no idea what Reggie was up to. If it was an aphrodisiac, he really didn't need it. He had absolute confidence in his manhood. It was certain that it wasn't as long as Ibaka's, but sometimes longer wasn't always better.

"I asked you to train with me! Did you think I asked you to go find girls?" Reggie retorted seriously.

"I like you the way you are!" Jia Fei laughed. He really didn't want to find a girl. He didn't know why, but lately he hadn't been interested in girls, especially the overly sexy and voluptuous type. He felt that many of the girls around him were that type. He preferred something a bit wilder, not this kind!

Upon arriving at the training hall, Jia Fei was surprised to find a 211cm tall, thin man wearing long socks already practicing shooting.

The man is tall with long arms, slightly narrow shoulders, a small head, and long legs, with a magical proportion like a "nine-headed beauty." But just by looking at his demeanor, you would forget that he is the leader of a championship-contending team, you would forget that he is a multi-millionaire, and you would subconsciously think that this guy must be a homebody, and the kind of loser who often secretly watches indescribable videos, pictures, and GIFs late at night.

This person is Kevin Durant, known as the "leader of the Thunder's Big Three," a super-talented monster with the speed of a guard and the height of a center.

Durant paused for a moment. He saw Jia Fei and Reggie, and his eyes showed some surprise. He hadn't expected that these two rookies from the team would come to the training facility to train on their day off.

"KD, you've been here all along! You've been working so hard!" Reggie exclaimed. He greatly admired Durant's skills and abilities, and he wanted to be like that man, scoring points as easily as drinking water on the court.

Durant simply nodded slightly; his impression of the two rookies had improved, as he already knew they often did extra practice after the team's regular training session.

Hard-working people tend to like other hard-working people; it's like they share a common magnetic field.

Jia Fei and Reggie started changing their shoes and clothes, and then warmed up.

There are many differences between professional and amateur players, one of which is the importance they place on warm-ups. Professional players warm up very professionally and seriously; they don't do it carelessly or skip warm-ups before training or playing.

While warming up, Jia Fei was also observing Durant, who, with the help of the team's trainer, was practicing shooting from different positions on the half-court. He truly is a natural scorer; standing at 211cm tall with a wingspan approaching 230cm, his release point is high, his release is quick, and most importantly, his accuracy is deadly. It's fair to say that when he jumps, most perimeter players can't even block it; most can only smell the "fragrance" under his armpits.

If passing vision can be considered a talent, then shooting can certainly be. The NBA is not lacking in slender players with the height and wingspan of Durant, but he is the only one who possesses such an excellent jump shot and dribbling ability.

Jia Fei and Reggie quickly finished warming up and got into training, practicing jump shots, free throws, and layups.

After practicing for a while, Reggie said to Durant, who was not far away, "KD, can I play a one-on-one game with you?"

Durant readily accepted and quickly started playing with Reggie.

Jia Fei watched the two fight one-on-one from the sidelines.

If there are 10 shots, Reggie will go first. Facing Durant, he won't have an easy time. He also struggles against Jia Fei's defense when they play one-on-one. As a tall point guard, he doesn't have a speed advantage against either of them. If he tries to jump shoot, Jia Fei's height and wingspan are superior, making his shot very difficult to contest. His previous wins against Jia Fei weren't due to his superior offense, but rather because Jia Fei also had a tough time against him.

To be precise, Jia Fei's ball-handling offense is still too average... He knows this, which is why he tries so hard to become a 3D player, because it is obviously easier to develop a consistent three-point shot than to develop ball-handling skills.

Reggie Jackson struggles against Kevin Durant, but Durant can play against him however he wants. A simple pull-up jumper from Jackson is virtually unchallenging, and a turnaround jumper after dribbling is effortless and completely uncontested. Durant even deliberately drives to the basket to score because a direct jump shot is too blatant and too easy…
