Chapter 236 Ai Haibara: My Turn, or My Turn Again

In front of a luxury hotel in Beika Town.

A red sports car slowly drove up from the other side of the street and then stopped in front of the hotel.

The car door opened slightly, and two people, one adult and one child, stepped out of the car.

It wasn't that Qi Ming and Vermouth were having an affair; rather, it was Jodie and Ai Haibara who had a meeting.

Jodie took out her phone and sent a text message, then smiled and whispered to Ai Haibara beside her:

"Our room is on the 6th floor."

However, when Jodie greeted her, Ai Haibara simply responded with a faint "Mm".

Seeing this, Judy couldn't help but sigh softly.

On the way here, she kept trying to find topics to chat with Ai Haibara and ask her about the Black Organization.

But no matter what she asked, Ai Haibara remained silent, occasionally replying with a word or two without expression, and was unwilling to pay any more attention to her.

While Jodie felt somewhat helpless about this, she could understand Ai Haibara's attitude.

After all, this trip was practically a case of being taken away by Haibara Ai in a semi-forced manner.

Anyone in that situation would probably feel dissatisfied.

Moreover, Jodie also knew about Ai Haibara's pain.

Her only relative was brutally murdered by the Black Organization, and so was she.

How could such a heavy blow not make this little girl become indifferent and withdrawn?

Miyano Akemi, who was far away in China, suddenly sneezed.

Ding-dong-

The hotel elevator announcement sounded, and the two stepped into the elevator together.

After a few breaths, we arrived at the 6th floor.

Ai Haibara quietly followed Jodie, who was walking ahead, and then stopped in room 613.

Judy arrived at the door, raised her hand and knocked lightly twice, then slowly pushed the door open.

When the door was fully open, Ai Haibara saw the handsome man sitting on the sofa reading a newspaper.

Shuichi Akai.

However, upon seeing Shuichi Akai's appearance, Ai Haibara couldn't help but frown slightly.

The man in front of me was somewhat different from the man I remembered.

His skin had become noticeably darker.

I remember this man used to have very fair skin, how come he looks like this now?

...Is it because his heart has turned black that it has affected his appearance?

Just then, Shuichi Akai seemed to notice the gaze coming from the doorway. He slowly put down the newspaper in his hand and turned his eyes to Ai Haibara.

In an instant, their eyes met, but the emotions they conveyed were completely different.

Shuichi Akai's eyes were filled with complex and difficult-to-understand emotions, but mostly with guilt.

Ai Haibara's gaze, however, was as cold as ice, devoid of any warmth.

After a moment of silence, Shuichi Akai took a deep breath, a faint smile appearing on his face, and said to Ai Haibara:

"This is truly the first time we've communicated when we both know each other's true identities."

After saying that, he put down the newspaper in his hand, stood up, and slowly walked towards Ai Haibara.

In response to Shuichi Akai's words, Ai Haibara merely snorted coldly, took a slight step back, and replied in an icy tone:

"Let's skip the formalities and just tell me what you want to talk to me about?"

Shuichi Akai naturally noticed Ai Haibara's small movement of stepping back, shrugged, and stood still.

This little girl is probably very sensitive right now, so let's take it slow.

"I already know about your sister."

After a long silence, Shuichi Akai finally spoke slowly, then lowered his head.

"I'm very sorry about this. If..."

Shuichi Akai spoke in a low voice, but before he could finish, he was interrupted by Ai Haibara's cold and merciless voice.

"That's enough! That's enough!"

Ai Haibara raised her voice slightly, interrupting Shuichi Akai.

"If you just want to come here like a Monday morning quarterback and offer a hypocritical apology, then you don't need to go through all this trouble."

Ai Haibara looked coldly at Shuichi Akai and continued:

"I have nothing to say to you, you traitor."

Upon hearing the word "traitor," Shuichi Akai was slightly taken aback.

traitor?

Why is this girl talking as if she herself didn't defect from the organization?

Shuichi Akai shook his head helplessly, and then a figure suddenly appeared in his mind.

Could it be that Ai Haibara was influenced by that person named Madeira?

They managed to persuade someone who had defected from the organization to start thinking about the organization again.

Shuichi Akai pondered to himself, then couldn't help but remind Ai Haibara:

"You are no longer a member of that organization."

Upon hearing this, Ai Haibara simply gave a cold snort.

"You always talk about the organization, don't you really understand what I mean? The traitor I'm talking about is you, the one who betrayed my sister."

Upon hearing this, Shuichi Akai frowned deeply, but he did not immediately respond to Ai Haibara's accusation.

Some were silenced by the attack.

After all, I really couldn't answer that question.

Let's go back to the day Miyano Saki died.

In fact, he had received and seen the message from Akemi Miyano.

Although he was in his own country at the time.

But if he wanted to, he could fly there in a plane and talk to Akemi Miyano about the mission and how to help her escape.

But Shuichi Akai did not.

The reason is simple: there are risks.

Standing to the side, Jodie keenly sensed Shuichi Akai's awkward situation and quickly tried to speak up for him:

“Sherry, no, Ms. Miyano, please let me explain. Shu actually has his own unspeakable difficulties, he…”

Unfortunately, before Jodie could finish speaking, she was ruthlessly interrupted by Ai Haibara.

Ai Haibara's lips curled up slightly, revealing a contemptuous smile.

Then, she looked at Judy with a sarcastic gaze and said coldly:

"Difficulties? I can't see what difficulties he has. In my eyes, he's nothing but a coward who's afraid of death!"

However, Ai Haibara paused for a moment, then said:

"No, perhaps calling you a coward is too much. You're a good undercover agent, but not a good man."

"You knew your true identity all along, yet you still revealed it to your sister. I really want to know what your purpose was?"

"Is it because your backup team will come to your rescue once your identity is exposed, so you feel fearless?"

Shuichi Akai frowned slightly and began to try to cover it up.

"When I told you about my sister's identity, I had already planned to take you two away from the organization. But things didn't go as planned, and my identity was exposed."

Ai Haibara snorted coldly.

"Yes, you know that things can change in an instant, so you're so confident that the organization won't suspect you?"

"..."

Ai Haibara's deadly rhythm has piled up.

Shuichi Akai had already been silenced by Ai Haibara.

Seeing that Shuichi Akai couldn't say anything either, Ai Haibara shifted her attention and looked Jodie up and down.

"Miss Jodie, what is your relationship with Shuichi Akai?"

"Xiu...you two sound quite intimate."
