Just as Gu Ye pulled Murong Xuewei closer, an arrow grazed past her hair.

Murong Xuewei leaned against Gu Ye, still shaken, looking at the arrow embedded in the carriage wall.

"Does this mean they don't intend to let you go back?"

Gu Ye subtly pulled Murong Xuewei over and positioned her in an attack stance.

As the sound of hooves drew closer, Gu Ye and Murong Xuewei sat in the carriage, their hands clasped tightly together, ready to face the approaching enemy at any moment.

In the distance, a dusty cavalry column was rapidly approaching. The riders were all dressed in riding attire, their hair and faces covered, with only their eyes showing.

"They're coming for us!" Gu Ye said in a low voice, his hand reaching for the sword beside him.

Murong Xuewei nodded, her expression solemn, and quickly drew the dagger hidden in the secret compartment, holding it horizontally in front of her chest.

The cavalry quickly arrived, and the leading general did not hesitate for a moment. He swung out his claws, and the cavalrymen beside him followed suit, grabbing the carriage.

The surrounding soldiers and guards immediately grabbed their swords and tried to stop the cavalry.

With a strong pull, the carriage shattered into pieces. Gu Ye protected Murong Xuewei and flew to the back of the carriage.

Gu Ye held Murong Xuewei in his arms, and the soldiers and guards protected Gu Ye and Murong Xuewei in the middle.

Gu Ye sneered, his sword flashed, and the tip pointed at his opponent. "If you dare to block my way, be prepared to die!"

The general was furious and waved his hand to signal his men to prepare to attack. The soldiers and guards rushed over.

The battle between the two sides quickly became intense. Gu Ye was already injured and couldn't hold on for long. Although Murong Xuewei knew some martial arts, she was no match for this group of cavalry.

"Charge!" Gu Ye brandished his longsword, pointing it directly at the cavalry leader.

"Seize Gu Ye!" the general roared, and the cavalry rushed towards Gu Ye and Murong Xuewei, attempting to surround them.

Murong Xuewei quickly turned to the side, deftly dodging an attack from a cavalryman.

"We can't be surrounded!" Gu Ye shouted, his eyes flashing with determination. "Break through that way!"

Gu Ye pointed to a grove of trees ahead. Gu Ye and Murong Xuewei exchanged a glance, their hearts in sync, and immediately rushed towards the grove. With his superb skills, Gu Ye led Murong Xuewei swiftly through the enemy's encirclement and into the woods.

"Chase!" Upon seeing this, the general roared and ordered the cavalry to give chase.

In the woods, Gu Ye and Murong Xuewei moved swiftly, using the trees as cover to increase the distance between themselves and the cavalry behind them.

However, the cavalry behind them were in hot pursuit, and the pursuers were getting closer and closer.

“Let’s split up and run. I’ll lead them away!” Gu Ye stopped and said seriously to Murong Xuewei.

Murong Xuewei frowned slightly, "No, you're still injured!"

"This injury is nothing serious." Gu Ye looked at Murong Xuewei with gentle eyes. "You stay here for a while, I'll distract them, and we'll meet up again when it's safe."

Murong Xuewei wanted to refuse, but the situation left no room for further words. In the end, she could only agree, "Fine, be careful!"

The two quickly separated. Murong Xuewei hid as planned, while Gu Ye ran in another direction. Sure enough, the cavalry behind him saw that Gu Ye was alone and chased after him.

"Foolish Gu Ye!" the general sneered. "You have no way to escape today!"

Gu Ye's lips curled into a cold smile. He stopped running, turned around, and looked at the group of cavalry.

"Tell me, who sent you?"

The cavalry leader didn't utter a single unnecessary word, "Kill."

The cavalrymen charged towards Gu Ye.

"You've got a tight tongue." Without the slightest hesitation, Gu Yeye drew her soft sword from her waist, and with a tap of her toes, the two cavalrymen at the front fell to the ground.

The remaining cavalrymen, seeing their comrades dead, showed no sign of stopping and continued to charge forward.

As expected, those who came were all suicide soldiers. Gu Ye thought to himself, so he didn't hold back and wiped out the cavalry in just a few moves, leaving only one cavalryman.

"Will you do it yourself or should I do it?"

Knowing he couldn't escape Gu Ye's powerful yet injured martial arts, the cavalry leader decisively bit into the poison in his mouth, choosing to die from it.

After watching the cavalry leader fall, Gu Ye used his sword to pick up a tree branch and held it in his hand. He then opened the cavalry leader's sleeve pocket but found nothing.

Gu Ye casually tossed the branch aside, and as soon as it hit the ground, the patch of grass there was instantly corroded.

They didn't even spare the corpses; these people are truly ruthless!

Remembering that Murong Xuewei was still waiting for him, Gu Ye put away his soft sword, messed up his hair and clothes, and prepared to go find Murong Xuewei.

Meanwhile, on the other side, Murong Xuewei, worried about Gu Ye, waited until the cavalry had left before emerging from the bushes and searching in the direction Gu Ye had gone.

"Gu Ye, please don't let anything happen to you!" she prayed silently.

She hadn't gone far when she suddenly heard the sound of several rapid hoofbeats behind her. She immediately hid behind a big tree and discovered several cavalrymen.

"We can't get caught!" Murong Xuewei tried her best to keep a low profile, but she was still spotted by the cavalry.

Murong Xuewei used her petite figure to her advantage, constantly weaving through the grass, trying to shake off the cavalry behind her.

But these cavalrymen were all martial arts masters, and these bushes were no problem for them.

Just as Murong Xuewei was about to be captured by the cavalry, Gu Ye appeared before her like a god.

Murong Xuewei happily pulled Gu Ye along, "Gu Ye, you're alright."

Gu Ye wrapped his arms around Murong Xuewei's waist. "Now is not the time to talk. Come with me."

Just then, the cavalry behind them caught up again. "Don't let them get away!" The cavalrymen sped up, closing in closer and closer.

As Gu Ye ran, he looked around and spotted a dense thicket ahead. An idea struck him. "Follow me, there's a thicket here."

"Let's go!" Murong Xuewei quickly followed, and the two rushed into the bushes without hesitation, trying to hide themselves there.

"Chase them!" the cavalry captain roared, leading his troops to charge forward, searching everywhere for Gu Ye and Murong Xuewei.

Murong Xuewei and Gu Ye hid in the bushes, holding their breath. They were close together, so close that they could feel each other's heartbeats.

The cavalrymen searched the vicinity, getting closer and closer, and Gu Ye and Murong Xuewei's hearts were in their throats. Just then, one of the cavalrymen suddenly stopped and walked towards the bushes.

"They're right here!" the cavalryman shouted.

"Hurry up!" Gu Ye whispered, a resolute glint in his eyes. He grabbed Murong Xuewei and ran towards the other side of the cliff.

"Are you crazy? That's a cliff over there!" Murong Xuewei exclaimed.

“We have no choice but to force them down another path!” Gu Ye said firmly, and the two of them ran towards the edge of the cliff without hesitation.

The cavalry were hot on their heels, about to catch up. Gu Ye and Murong Xuewei strained with all their might, rushing towards the edge of the cliff.

"Jump!" Gu Ye shouted, leaping into the air without hesitation.

Murong Xuewei was shocked and jumped down after her. The two of them plunged into the river below the cliff.

"Ah!" Murong Xuewei screamed, her vision blurred, and she almost suffocated.

Just as they were about to fall into the water, Gu Ye grabbed Murong Xuewei's hand with all his might, and the two fell into the river at the same time, creating a splash.

"Xuewei, hold on!" Gu Ye shouted, pulling Murong Xuewei along as they struggled to swim downstream.

Murong Xuewei was already somewhat afraid of water, and after running for so long, she really couldn't hold on any longer and felt a little dizzy.

"Hang in there a little longer!" Gu Ye held Murong Xuewei's hand tightly, constantly encouraging her.

With one hand supporting Murong Xuewei, Gu Ye struggled for a long time before finally swimming out of the river.
