The palace maids and guards immediately got to work, some serving porridge, others distributing it, and the scene was orderly.

Murong Xuewei and Xiao Sining also joined the porridge distribution team. They personally served porridge to the people and handed them the steaming bowls.

"Thank you, Queen!"

"Thank you, Princess!"

The people accepted the bowls of porridge and thanked Murong Xuewei and Xiao Sining profusely, their faces filled with gratitude.

Murong Xuewei looked at these people, her heart filled with sympathy and pity. She knew that this was only temporary help and could not truly solve their plight.

She hopes to find a better way to help them escape poverty and live a stable life.

The line for distributing porridge was incredibly long, winding and stretching as far as the eye could see. The air was thick with the aroma of rice porridge, mingled with the hushed conversations of the people and the cries of children, creating a lively and bustling atmosphere. Murong Xuewei patiently served porridge to each person, her movements gentle and graceful, her face always bearing a tender smile, like a true goddess of compassion radiating warmth.

Liuli followed closely behind Murong Xuewei, her eyes scanning the surroundings warily, watching for anyone who approached her. She knew that Murong Xuewei was now not only the Empress of Daqi, but also prey in the eyes of those with ill intentions. She had to remain vigilant at all times to protect Murong Xuewei's safety.

Suddenly, a burly man with a face full of scars squeezed to the front of the line. He grabbed a basket of steamed buns from the stall and turned to leave.

"Brother, please wait." Murong Xuewei's voice was clear and calm, carrying an undeniable air of authority.

Hearing the voice, the man turned around, sized up Murong Xuewei, and a hint of contempt flashed in his eyes. "Oh, which family's young lady is this? You're quite pretty." His tone was rude, with a hint of flirtation.

Murong Xuewei frowned slightly. She looked at the man and said calmly, "These steamed buns are meant to be given to the poor. How can you take them away so easily?"

The man burst into laughter, as if he had heard a hilarious joke. "Give alms? I'm hungry, what's wrong with taking a few steamed buns? You're just a little..." He paused, sizing up Murong Xuewei, and continued, "What right do you, a mere girl, have to interfere?"

He clearly did not recognize Murong Xuewei's identity. Or rather, he simply could not imagine that the noble and beautiful woman before him was the Empress of the Great Qi Dynasty.

"How dare you!" Upon seeing this, Liuli immediately stepped forward and shouted sternly, "How dare you be disrespectful to Her Majesty the Empress!"

Upon hearing this, the man was taken aback at first, then burst into laughter. "The Empress? Hahaha, are you kidding me? The Empress herself would come here to serve porridge? Who are you trying to fool?" As he spoke, he reached out to touch Murong Xuewei's face.

"Insolence!" Liuli could no longer tolerate it. She flashed and appeared in front of the man like a ghost, grabbed his wrist and twisted it hard.

With a sharp crack, the man's arm was severed.

"Ah!" The man screamed in agony, clutching his severed arm and writhing on the ground in pain.

Upon seeing this, the surrounding people were terrified and scattered, creating chaos at the scene.

The man clutched his dislocated arm, howling in pain on the ground, cursing and swearing. In the chaos, someone shouted, "The soldiers are here!" The crowd immediately became even more agitated, scattering to both sides and revealing a passage.

A troop of soldiers rode up on tall horses, charging menacingly. The leading official dismounted, walked up to the man, and demanded sternly, "What's going on?"

The man saw the soldiers as if he had seen a savior. He scrambled to the official and cried out, "Sir, you must do justice for me! This woman... this woman bullies ordinary people. In broad daylight, she actually... she actually broke my arm!" He pointed at Murong Xuewei, his eyes filled with resentment.

The official followed the man's finger and his gaze fell on Murong Xuewei. He was stunned for a moment, then his eyes widened as if he had seen a ghost. He immediately knelt down and bowed, "This humble subject greets Your Majesty the Empress! I was unaware of Your Majesty's arrival and have failed to greet you properly. Please forgive me!"

Upon seeing this, the surrounding people also knelt down and bowed, saying, "Greetings, Your Majesty the Empress!"

The man was stunned by what he saw. The Empress? The woman before him… was actually the Empress? He had just… flirted with the Empress?

He was so frightened that his face turned pale, his whole body trembled, and he couldn't say a word.

The official stood up, walked up to the man, and shouted sternly, "You audacious commoner! How dare you disrespect Her Majesty the Empress! Guards, arrest him!"

Several soldiers immediately stepped forward, tied the man up, and took him away.

The man then realized what had happened. He struggled desperately, crying out that he was innocent. "My lord, I'm innocent! I...I didn't know she was the Empress! I...I was blind and didn't recognize her! Please spare my life!"

However, his cries for justice were quickly drowned out by the cheers of the people.

"The Queen is a thousand years old, a thousand years old!"

"Your Majesty the Empress is merciful!"

Murong Xuewei looked at the kneeling people, her heart filled with mixed emotions. She knew that these people did not genuinely support her; they were merely afraid of imperial power and her status.

She sighed softly, then said to the official beside her, "Get up. There's no need to make a fuss about what happened today. Let him go."

The official was taken aback for a moment, then quickly replied, "Yes, Your Majesty."

Murong Xuewei turned to look at Xiao Sining, a cold glint in her eyes. Murong Xuewei was pondering whether this matter was related to Xiao Sining.

Xiao Sining still wore a gentle smile, as if nothing had happened. She walked to Murong Xuewei's side and asked with concern, "Your Majesty, are you alright?"

Murong Xuewei looked at her without saying a word, only smiling faintly. That smile, however, sent a chill down Xiao Sining's spine.

"Your Majesty, are you alright? Were you frightened?" Xiao Sining asked tentatively, her tone full of concern, as if she were genuinely worried about Murong Xuewei's safety.

She gently held Murong Xuewei's arm, her eyes tender and sincere.

Murong Xuewei subtly avoided Xiao Sining's hand, smiled faintly, and said, "Thank you for your concern, Princess. I'm fine." Her tone was calm, without the slightest hint of emotion, as if everything that had just happened had nothing to do with her. But only she knew how cold and angry she felt inside.

Standing behind Murong Xuewei, Liuli watched Xiao Sining's hypocritical performance with disgust in her heart.

She stepped forward, blocking Murong Xuewei's path, her sharp gaze fixed on Xiao Sining, and asked in an icy tone, "Xiao Sining, that man... was it you who arranged it?"

Xiao Sining's expression changed slightly, but she quickly returned to normal. She looked at Liuli, a hint of displeasure flashing in her eyes, but her tone remained gentle. "Miss Liuli, what are you saying? How could I do such a thing? I... I was just worried about Her Majesty the Empress's safety."

"Worried about Her Majesty's safety?" Liuli sneered. "I think you... are actually hoping something happens to Her Majesty, aren't you?"

"Liuli!" Murong Xuewei gently scolded, stopping Liuli's questioning. She knew that now was not the time to break ties with Xiao Sining.
