Lan'er slashed off the mask of one of the men in black with her sword, revealing a glaring scar on his face. "Your Majesty, these people are assassins from Nanzhao!"

Murong Xuewei's eyes narrowed. "Nanzhao! It's Nanzhao again."

Just then, the sound of horses' hooves came from afar, and a troop of black-clad riders galloped towards them. The leader was none other than Nangong Yifeng.

"Nangong Yifeng?" Murong Xuewei looked at the suddenly appearing Nangong Yifeng in surprise. "What are you doing here?"

Nangong Yifeng dismounted, smiling somewhat sheepishly, and said, "Those old fogies from Qu Kingdom are so boring. I came out for some fresh air and also wanted to find you to hang out with."

Murong Xuewei looked at Nangong Yifeng's slightly embarrassed expression and couldn't help but smile. "Looking for me? You're here to see Liuli, aren't you?"

Nangong Yifeng chuckled, "It's all the same, all the same."

Seeing that Murong Xuewei could still reminisce so calmly under such circumstances, the leader of the men in black was enraged and pointed his scissor at Murong Xuewei with a cold glint in his eye.

"Since you're about to die, why don't I send you to the underworld for a proper reunion?"

Murong Xuewei coldly stared at the leader of the men in black, "Your Nanzhao has sent so many people to assassinate me, and every time you've spouted the same arrogant words as you, yet you've never succeeded."

The man in black seemed unmoved by Murong Xuewei's words, and instead turned his sword tip towards the carriage behind Murong Xuewei.

"I'm not like those good-for-nothings. Besides, even if I can't beat you, surely I can beat a dying man?"

A murderous glint flashed in Murong Xuewei's eyes. "You're courting death."

Murong Xuewei charged toward the leader of the men in black with her sword, and the leader hurriedly drew his sword to block.

The two groups clashed again. Seeing this, Nangong Yifeng drew his sword, saying, "Since Sister Xuewei is in danger, I should naturally help. Leave these Nanzhao assassins to me!"

When the remaining men in black saw Nangong Yifeng join them, the situation instantly turned around. Many of them died at Nangong Yifeng's hands, and the men in black turned to flee.

"Trying to leave?" Nangong Yifeng sneered. "Since you're a death squad member of Nanzhao, don't even think about leaving alive!"

Moments later, all the men in black were killed.

“Nangong Yifeng,” Murong Xuewei looked at Nangong Yifeng with a complicated expression, “Aren’t you offending Nanzhao again by doing this…”

Nangong Yifeng interrupted her, "It's alright, all of them are dead. Besides, this is the territory of Daqi. Who would have thought that the one who killed them was the Emperor of Qu Kingdom! Moreover..." He paused, "You and I are close friends. I can't just stand by and watch you get hurt. If Liuli finds out, she will definitely kill me."

Lan'er gazed at the corpses strewn across the ground. "Your Majesty," she asked, "why is Nanzhao attacking us at this time?"

A ruthless glint flashed in Murong Xuewei's eyes. "She wants to take advantage of Gu Ye's serious illness to eliminate us in one fell swoop. I'm afraid... she's also behind Physician Song."

“I will accompany you to Medicine King Valley,” Nangong Yifeng said.

Murong Xuewei felt a warmth in her heart as she looked at the undisguised longing in Nangong Yifeng's eyes.

Murong Xuewei knew that this usually carefree and unrestrained emperor of Qu Kingdom had truly fallen in love.

Murong Xuewei couldn't help but tease, "You just want to finish things with me as soon as possible so you can see Liuli sooner, right?"

Nangong Yifeng blushed and turned his head away. "You, I'm just trying to help you, why are you teasing me?"

"Okay, okay, I won't say anymore."

The carriage set off again, speeding towards Medicine King Valley. Inside the carriage, Murong Xuewei gazed at the fleeting night outside the window, and couldn't help but think of Xiao Yan'er and Gu Ye.

"Nanzhao," she thought to herself, "when I return this time, I will make you pay the price!"

The wheels rolled on, kicking up clouds of dust. Night deepened, and a bright moon hung high in the sky, casting its gentle light upon the traveling caravan...

As night deepened, the group continued their journey. Murong Xuewei instructed Lan'er to take the stand-ins impersonating her and Gu Ye along the main road, while she led Gu Ye along a side path.

"Nangong Yifeng, could you please escort Lan'er and the others along the main road?" Murong Xuewei said to Nangong Yifeng. "Gu Ye and I will be safer taking the side road."

Nangong Yifeng nodded. "I understand. The people of Nanzhao will definitely come to stop us again. I'll distract them."

Before parting, Murong Xuewei looked at Nangong Yifeng and said, "Thank you."

Nangong Yifeng waved his hand, "There's no need for thanks between us." He then glanced at Gu Ye, who was unconscious inside the carriage, "Go quickly, Gu Ye's condition is not optimistic."

Murong Xuewei and two bodyguards led Gu Ye onto a secluded path. In the darkness, they walked quickly and cautiously.

Suddenly, a strange noise came from ahead. Murong Xuewei stopped alertly and signaled her guards to be on the lookout.

“Someone is following us,” one of the guards whispered.

Murong Xuewei gently set Gu Ye down and gripped the hilt of her sword. Under the moonlight, several dark figures silently approached.

"Come out," Murong Xuewei said coldly.

The shadows of the trees swayed, and three men in black emerged. The leader, holding a long sword, sneered, "As expected of the Empress of Great Qi, you even discovered this."

"The people of Nanzhao really did have a backup plan." Murong Xuewei narrowed her eyes.

"Your Majesty, hand over Gu Ye, and we will let you leave," said the man in black.

Murong Xuewei stood in front of Gu Ye, saying, "If you want to touch him, you'll have to get past me first."

"Then don't blame us for being impolite!" The man in black charged forward, brandishing his sword.

Murong Xuewei and her two bodyguards swiftly engaged in battle. In a flash of sword light, one of the bodyguards was struck and fell to the ground. Murong Xuewei forced the enemy back with a single sword strike and hurriedly checked on the bodyguard's injury.

"Your Majesty, you must go!" the wounded guard gritted his teeth. "We'll hold them off."

Murong Xuewei glanced at the unconscious Gu Ye, gritted her teeth, and said, "Be careful. I will get to Medicine King Valley as soon as possible and bring Zhang Jing to rescue you."

After saying that, she carried Gu Ye on her back and, taking advantage of the opportunity while the guards were desperately protecting him, quickly disappeared into the night.

As she ran carrying Gu Ye, Murong Xuewei could feel his body temperature dropping lower and lower. She was frantic and could only quicken her pace.

"Gu Ye, you must hold on," Murong Xuewei whispered. "I won't let anything happen to you."

Under the moonlight, Murong Xuewei carried Gu Ye on her back as they walked briskly along a mountain path. Suddenly, she felt Gu Ye's body tremble violently on her back.

"Gu Ye?" Murong Xuewei hurriedly stopped in her tracks.

Gu Ye coughed violently again, spitting out a mouthful of blood that stained Murong Xuewei's shoulder.

"Gu Ye!" Murong Xuewei hurriedly put him down and made him lean against a large rock. In the moonlight, Gu Ye's face was ashen, and there was still blood on the corner of his mouth.

"Xuewei..." Gu Ye struggled to raise his hand and wipe away her tears. "Don't cry."

Murong Xuewei then realized that tears were streaming down her face. She grasped Gu Ye's hand, "Don't speak, we'll be at Medicine King Valley soon. Zhang Jing will definitely find a way to save you."

Gu Ye smiled weakly, "If...if I really don't make it, you must take good care of yourself. Xiao Yan'er is still young and needs you...I've already left a secret edict with the court officials..."

"Don't say that!" Murong Xuewei interrupted him, tears streaming down her face. "You'll be alright, I won't let anything happen to you! When you saved me, I said I'd stay by your side for life. You said you'd see all the wonders of this world with me, that you'd grow old with me..."

Gu Ye struggled to raise his hand and wipe away her tears. "I'm sorry... I might have to break my promise..."

"No!" Murong Xuewei hugged him tightly. "You'll be alright. I'll definitely get you safely to Medicine King Valley. We promised each other we'd watch Xiaoyan grow up together, we'd grow old together... You promised me, you'd never lie to me..."
