The footsteps grew louder and more frequent as they approached. Gu Ye's pupils contracted slightly, and the key in his hand froze in mid-air. Zhang Jing quickly glanced around, his eyes rapidly searching the dimly lit cell for a hiding spot. Liu Li's face was pale, but she forced herself to remain calm, mouthing them to leave first.

"Sir, we're over here!" a jailer's voice came from not far away.

Time was of the essence. Gu Ye and Zhang Jing exchanged a glance and quickly made a decision. Gu Ye reached out and reinserted the key into the lock, gently turning it to lock Liuli back into her cell. Zhang Jing, on the other hand, strode to the wall, took down two guards' outer robes, and smeared coal ash on his face and hands.

"Remember, don't act rashly," Gu Ye whispered to Liuli, then took the robe Zhang Jing handed him and put it on.

“My lord…” Liuli hesitated, her eyes filled with worry.

"Don't worry, we won't abandon you," Gu Ye said firmly. "We will definitely rescue you."

Liu Li looked at Gu Ye and nodded. "How is Madam now?"

Gu Ye hesitated for a moment, then said directly, "Xue Wei is very worried about you, so you must get out safely."

Footsteps approached the cell, and Jiang Lingyun strode in with a squad of guards. The dim torchlight illuminated his cold, stern face, his eyes flashing with a ruthless light. His gaze swept across the cell, and seeing that Liuli was still locked inside, his tense nerves relaxed slightly.

"My lord, I heard some noises over here while I was on patrol just now," Gu Ye said in a low voice, pretending to report.

Jiang Lingyun took two steps closer, her gaze lingering on the two "guards" for a moment. "Are you new here?"

"Replying to your question, sir, we were just transferred here," Zhang Jing replied, bowing and deliberately making his voice hoarse.

Jiang Lingyun nodded thoughtfully. "Investigate carefully, don't let anyone take advantage of the situation. This lowly maid is no simpleton, and her mistress is even more cunning." He sneered, "However, they won't be able to keep up this for long."

"Yes!" the crowd answered in unison.

After Jiang Lingyun and his men left, Gu Ye and Zhang Jing finally breathed a sigh of relief. Zhang Jing whispered, "That Jiang Lingyun is quite cautious; we almost gave ourselves away."

“Let’s not talk about that now.” Gu Ye looked around. “We need to find a way to contact Liuli alone, otherwise she won’t last long.”

Early the next morning, Jiang Lingyun ordered his men to bring Liuli to the interrogation room. The gleaming instruments of torture were neatly arranged on wooden shelves, exuding a chilling aura. Liuli was forced to kneel on the ground, her hands chained.

"Speak, where is Murong Xuewei?" Jiang Lingyun looked down at Liuli, his voice icy.

Liuli raised her head, a mocking smile playing on her lips. "Do you think I'd tell you?"

"You are indeed loyal," Jiang Lingyun sneered. "However, do you think Murong Xuewei is worth your unwavering devotion? Let me tell you something, your master..." He leaned down and whispered in Liuli's ear, "is not as simple as she seems on the surface."

"What nonsense are you talking about?" Liuli retorted sharply.

"Nonsense?" Jiang Lingyun straightened up. "Then do you know why she married Gu Ye? And why she appeared in the capital at this time?" He looked at Liu Li's slightly changed expression and continued, "You don't really think it's fate, do you?"

Liuli bit her lip. Although she had her doubts, she trusted her mistress. "No matter what you say, I will not betray you, Madam."

“Stubbornness is useless.” Jiang Lingyun narrowed his eyes, signaling the jailers to begin the torture. “Once you experience the pain, you’ll naturally understand.”

The sound of the iron whip whistling through the air rang out, and Liuli gritted her teeth, refusing to utter a single cry of pain. Blood quickly stained her clothes, and Liuli's scarlet eyes were fixed intently on Jiang Lingyun.

Jiang Lingyun felt inexplicably uneasy under their gaze, as if she had missed something.

Gu Ye, who was "on duty" nearby, clenched his fists so tightly that his nails dug deep into his palms. Zhang Jing secretly observed Liu Li's condition. When he was helping Liu Li up earlier, he had quietly taken her pulse and knew that Liu Li's body was nearing its limit.

"General," Zhang Jing whispered to Gu Ye during a shift change, "Liuli can't hold on much longer. If this continues, she'll..."

“I know.” Gu Ye interrupted him, a cold glint in his eyes. “Find a way to make your move.”

“But the current situation is too risky.” Zhang Jing frowned.

“There’s no way out. If we don’t hurry, we might have no choice but to take the body back in the glass bag.” Gu Ye looked in the direction of the interrogation room.

Zhang Jing was taken aback, then realized, "You mean..."

Gu Ye nodded. "Just wait and see."

Taking advantage of the opportunity to deliver food to Liuli, Gu Ye secretly slipped a note into the food.

Understanding the implication, Liuli suddenly spoke up during Jiang Lingyun's second interrogation: "Lord Jiang, I can tell you the whereabouts of your wife."

Jiang Lingyun's eyes lit up, then she became wary again. "Go on."

“But…” Liuli coughed twice, “this matter is of great importance, and I can only tell the adults alone. After all, it involves some things… that are inconvenient for outsiders to know.”

"Oh?" Jiang Lingyun's interest was piqued. "What is it?"

Liuli lowered her voice, "It's about the Madam and the Sixth Prince Nangong..."

Jiang Lingyun's eyes sharpened. He pondered for a moment, then waved away the guards in the room. Gu Ye and Zhang Jing exchanged a glance, pretending to leave, but actually hiding outside the door to wait.

"Now you can tell me, right?" Jiang Lingyun leaned closer to Liuli. "What secrets lie between Nangong Yifeng and Murong Xuewei?"

In that instant, Gu Ye and Zhang Jing pushed open the door and entered. Before Jiang Lingyun could react, Gu Ye had already grabbed the back of her neck. Zhang Jing quickly took out a porcelain bottle from his sleeve and poured the powder into Jiang Lingyun's mouth.

"Don't try anything funny," Gu Ye whispered in Jiang Lingyun's ear. "This is a poison specially made by Zhang Jing. You should know his reputation. If you don't want to experience what it's like to wish you were dead, you'd better behave."

Jiang Lingyun's pupils contracted sharply, and cold sweat trickled down his forehead. Although Jiang Lingyun had never heard of Zhang Jingdian's name, he knew that anything that ended up in Gu Ye's hands must be highly poisonous.

"You...you can't escape. The Heavenly Prison is heavily guarded, and even if you did manage to escape," Jiang Lingyun gritted her teeth, "the authorities will not let you go..."

"Shut up," Gu Ye interrupted coldly. "Take us out of here. If you dare to try anything funny, you know the consequences."

Jiang Lingyun gritted her teeth and had no choice but to do as she was told. Zhang Jing quickly unlocked Liuli's chains and helped her follow behind. The four of them slowly walked out of the prison, each step taken with extreme caution.

Liuli leaned weakly against Zhang Jing and asked in a low voice, "Doctor Zhang... how is Madam?"

"Don't worry, she's safe," Zhang Jing reassured her. "I'll treat your injuries as soon as we get out."

However, just as they were about to step out the gate, Jiang Lingyun suddenly exchanged a glance with the head guard. Gu Ye sensed something was wrong and was about to warn him when the head guard drew his sword and charged straight at Zhang Jing.

In the nick of time, Zhang Jing shoved Liu Li aside and dodged the blade in a flash. Gu Ye tightened his grip, pressing the blade closer to Jiang Lingyun's back. Jiang Lingyun groaned, feeling the sharp pain in her back.

"Lord Jiang!" Upon seeing this, the head guard paused, his sword still in his hand.
