"Uncle Lin, I'm leaving now. I'm entrusting everything in the manor to you." Murong Xuewei said with her back to Uncle Lin, then mounted her horse.

Murong Xuewei quietly left the general's mansion and headed towards the city gate. In the darkness, the sounds of hooves and wheels mingled and gradually faded into the distance.

Meanwhile, Murong Yuxuan was reviewing documents in his study.

A servant rushed over and whispered a few words in his ear.

Murong Yuxuan's expression changed, and he immediately picked up a pen and wrote a letter, handing it to a servant and saying, "Hurry up and deliver it to General Gu within three days."

The servant obeyed and left. Murong Yuxuan stood by the window, gazing at the stars in the night sky, a complex expression flashing in his eyes.

Gu Ye's carriage had been traveling for a day and a night. He sat inside, holding a military report in his hand, his brow furrowed. Suddenly, the carriage stopped.

"General, we've arrived at the post station. Would you like to rest for a bit?" came the deputy general's voice from outside.

Gu Ye put down the carriage newspaper, lifted the curtain, and stepped out. He stretched and looked around. It was an ordinary post station, surrounded by rolling mountains, with a faint scent of pine in the air.

"Alright, let's rest here for a bit," Gu Ye instructed.

Just as everyone was busy settling in, a messenger arrived on horseback. "General Gu, Young Master Murong has urgent business!"

Gu Ye took the letter, quickly glanced through it, and his expression changed drastically. He immediately turned around and strode out of the post station.

Just then, the sound of horses' hooves came from afar. Gu Ye looked up and saw a white horse galloping towards them. The rider was dressed in white and looked dashing. Gu Ye stared intently and couldn't help but exclaim, "Xue Wei?"

Murong Xuewei reined in her horse and stopped in front of Gu Ye, then dismounted. Her face was flushed from the long journey, but her eyes sparkled with excitement.

"Gu Ye, I didn't expect to catch up with you so quickly," Murong Xuewei said with a smile, a hint of pride in her voice.

Gu Ye strode forward and pulled Murong Xuewei into his arms. "Why did you come? It's so dangerous on the road!" His voice held both surprise and reproach.

Murong Xuewei leaned against Gu Ye's chest, inhaling his familiar scent, and felt a sense of peace. She whispered, "I was worried about you, so I came. Besides, our Murong family has business in the border regions, so I thought I'd take a look."

Gu Ye released his embrace and carefully examined Murong Xuewei. Dressed in men's clothing, she was dashing and heroic, bearing no resemblance whatsoever to a lady from a respectable family. Gu Ye couldn't help but smile, feeling both touched and helpless.

"You always surprise me," Gu Ye sighed softly. "Since you're here, let's go to the frontier together. But you have to listen to me on the way and don't do anything reckless."

Murong Xuewei winked playfully, "Yes, General Gu."

The two men exchanged a smile, as if everything around them had vanished. They only snapped back to reality when the lieutenant coughed.

"General, shall we continue on our way?" the lieutenant asked respectfully.

Gu Ye nodded. "We'll rest for a bit and set off in an hour."

Murong Xuewei followed Gu Ye into the post station, secretly glad she had made the decision. She knew the journey would be fraught with danger, but as long as she was with Gu Ye, she was not afraid of anything.

In the days that followed, the group traveled on foot, weary from their journey. Although Murong Xuewei was a lady from a prominent family, her horsemanship was superb, in no way inferior to those seasoned soldiers. Sometimes she rode alongside Gu Ye, and sometimes she chatted and laughed with the soldiers, quickly integrating into the group.

Gu Ye watched Murong Xuewei's performance with a mixture of relief and worry. He knew Xuewei was no ordinary woman, but the harsh environment and frequent battles on the frontier made him unsure if she could adapt.

A month later, the group finally arrived at the important border town. In the distance, the city walls stood tall and heavily guarded. Outside the city gate, a troop of soldiers stood in neat formation, clearly there to welcome Gu Ye.

Gu Ye dismounted and strode towards the welcoming party. Murong Xuewei followed closely behind, secretly observing everything around her.

"This humble general Zhang Hong respectfully welcomes General Gu!" The leading general clasped his hands in a salute.

Gu Ye nodded. "No need for formalities. How is the situation on the frontier?"

Just as Zhang Hong was about to answer, a commotion suddenly arose in the crowd. A young woman emerged, dressed in a brightly colored dress and with exquisite makeup, standing out starkly from the rough surroundings.

"General Gu, you've finally arrived!" the woman said sweetly, her eyes filled with admiration.

Gu Ye frowned slightly, clearly displeased by the sudden interruption. Zhang Hong quickly explained, "General, this is Vice General Sang Jiayi's daughter."

Murong Xuewei stood to the side, watching the scene with great interest. She whispered to Liuli beside her, "It seems our General Gu is quite the ladies' man even on the frontier."

Liuli glanced at Murong Xuewei with concern, afraid that she would be angry. But to Liuli's surprise, Murong Xuewei's face not only showed no anger, but also had a playful smile.

Gu Ye nodded politely to Sang Jiayi, then turned to Murong Xuewei and introduced her, "This is the First Madam of the Murong family, Murong Xuewei."

Sang Jiayi then noticed Murong Xuewei, and her expression immediately turned somewhat unpleasant. She looked Murong Xuewei up and down, a hint of jealousy flashing in her eyes.

Murong Xuewei smiled and nodded to Sang Jiayi, a hint of mockery in her eyes. She leaned close to Gu Ye's ear and whispered, "General Gu, it seems you're having quite a bit of luck with women on the frontier. There's Xiao Sining in the capital, and now there's another beauty here."

Upon hearing this, Gu Ye's expression changed slightly, and he said in a low voice, "Xue Wei, don't talk nonsense."

Murong Xuewei, however, didn't seem to care; instead, her smile widened. She knew that this Sang Jiayi would likely become a minor trouble for her on the frontier. But she wasn't worried, because she trusted Gu Ye's heart.

Just then, the sound of rapid hoofbeats came from afar. A scout rode up at full gallop, dismounted, and knelt before Gu Ye.

"Reporting to the General, I have successfully completed my mission!"

Gu Ye smiled slightly and patted the person on the shoulder, "Well done!"

As night fell, Murong Xuewei stood on the city wall, gazing northwards. A biting wind ruffled her hair, bringing a chill.

Murong Xuewei took a deep breath, taking in everything around her.

Gu Ye quietly approached her and asked softly, "What are you thinking about?"

Murong Xuewei turned to look at Gu Ye, a slight smile playing on her lips. "I was thinking, the scenery here has a unique charm."

Gu Ye smiled and put his arm around Murong Xuewei's shoulder. "You're always so optimistic. But the frontier is indeed dangerous; you need to be careful."

Murong Xuewei leaned against Gu Ye's chest and whispered, "I know. But with you here, I'm not afraid of anything."

The two smiled at each other, their eyes full of tenderness.
