Uncle Lin glanced around to make sure no one was watching, then lowered his voice and said, "Young Master, you're being too impulsive. Why won't you agree to a divorce? Do you know how important our plan is!"

Gu Ye frowned. "Uncle Lin, I've already said I won't abandon Xue Wei."

Uncle Lin said urgently, "Young Master, have you forgotten our mission? How can the great cause of restoring the kingdom be delayed by personal feelings? That Murong Xuewei doesn't even know your true identity, so how could she understand our good intentions?"

Gu Ye remained silent, a flicker of struggle crossing his eyes. Seeing this, Uncle Lin continued to urge him, "Young Master, let's act! Any later and all our efforts will be in vain."

Gu Ye took a deep breath and slowly said, "Uncle Lin, I understand your worries. But Xuewei is very important to me, and I can't just abandon her like this."

Uncle Lin sighed, his voice filled with disappointment, "Young Master, you've changed. That woman has blinded you. Do you know that while you were imprisoned here, she already agreed to a divorce?"

Gu Ye looked up abruptly, a flash of shock in his eyes. "This is impossible!"

Uncle Lin sneered, "Young Master, you're too naive. That woman isn't worth sacrificing so much for. Now, we must act immediately. The soldiers are ready, awaiting your command."

Gu Ye fell into deep thought, a complex emotion flashing in his eyes. After a moment, he slowly spoke, "Uncle Lin, I need time to think about it."

Uncle Lin shook his head in disappointment. "Young Master, time waits for no one. I hope you can make a decision as soon as possible. Remember, the greater cause is paramount."

After saying that, Uncle Lin quietly left, leaving Gu Ye alone in the darkness to ponder.

As night fell, the general's mansion was completely silent.

Murong Xuewei sat alone in the study, the flickering candlelight illuminating her haggard face.

Ever since Gu Ye was imprisoned, she has lost her appetite and racked her brains every day for a rescue plan.

“Madam,” Liuli called softly, “you should rest. If you keep pushing yourself like this, your health will collapse.”

Murong Xuewei looked up, forcing a smile. "I'm fine, you can go now."

Liuli hesitated for a moment, then sighed and quietly withdrew.

The room fell silent again, with only the occasional faint crackling of the candlelight.

Murong Xuewei's gaze fell on the wedding candles on the table. Her mother had lit them for her on the day she and Gu Ye had their fake wedding.

Her marriage to Gu Ye was merely a stopgap measure, intended to leverage the power of the General's Mansion for revenge.

But now, this man, who was once just a pawn, has become the most important person in her heart.

"Gu Ye, do you know how worried I was about you?" Murong Xuewei murmured, tears welling in her eyes. "I must save you, even if it costs me everything..."

Just then, a light footstep sound came from behind.

Murong Xuewei looked up alertly and saw a dark figure quietly appear outside the window.

“It’s me.” A deep voice rang out, and Uncle Lin’s figure emerged from the shadows.

Murong Xuewei breathed a sigh of relief, but quickly frowned again. "Uncle Lin, why are you here so late?"

Uncle Lin looked around to make sure no one was there before lowering his voice and saying, "I just came back from prison and I've already seen the young master."

Murong Xuewei suddenly stood up and asked anxiously, "How is Gu Ye? Is he injured?"

Uncle Lin shook his head. "The young master is temporarily unharmed, but his situation is very dangerous. Xiao Sining has already decided to kill him."

Murong Xuewei's expression changed drastically, a chill running from her feet to the top of her head. Suppressing her fear, she asked in a low voice, "Uncle Lin, do you have any ideas?"

Uncle Lin sighed, looking at Murong Xuewei with a complicated expression. "If I may be so bold as to ask, does Madam intend to plead for the young master?"

Murong Xuewei was taken aback, then understood Uncle Lin's unspoken meaning. She shook her head with a wry smile, "Uncle Lin, do you want me to agree to a divorce so that Gu Ye can get away?"

Uncle Lin remained noncommittal, only saying meaningfully, "Madam, the situation is critical. I know you and the young master have a deep bond, but sometimes, for the greater good..."

Murong Xuewei interrupted Uncle Lin, "Uncle Lin, don't worry. I have my own plan, and I will absolutely not let anything happen to Gu Ye."

Upon hearing this, Uncle Lin's eyes flashed with surprise. He had thought that Murong Xuewei would refuse because of her emotions, but he hadn't expected her to be so calm.

"So... what does Madam intend to do?" Uncle Lin asked tentatively.

Murong Xuewei's gaze was resolute. "I will personally go to the palace to negotiate with the Emperor."

Uncle Lin was shocked. "This is too dangerous! The Emperor is very concerned about you..."

“I know,” Murong Xuewei interrupted Uncle Lin, “but this is the only way. Uncle Lin, I need your help.”

Uncle Lin hesitated for a moment, then finally nodded. "Please speak, Madam."

Murong Xuewei lowered her voice and said quickly, "I need you to secretly investigate Xiao Wanning's movements. I suspect she's secretly amassing troops, preparing for a rebellion. If you can find conclusive evidence, it will be our bargaining chip."

A glint flashed in Uncle Lin's eyes, as if he understood something. "Madam is indeed exceptionally wise. I'll take care of it immediately."

Murong Xuewei nodded. "Remember, be extremely careful. Inform me immediately if you have any news."

After agreeing, Uncle Lin quietly left, leaving Murong Xuewei alone in thought.

After leaving Murong Xuewei's room, Uncle Lin turned around and instructed the guards to wait and see what happened in Yuncheng.

Uncle Lin stared intently at Murong Xuewei in the room. If things didn't work out with Murong Xuewei, he would have to take immediate action in Yuncheng.

He absolutely could not allow Gu Ye to suffer any harm.

Murong Xuewei knew that this was a huge gamble.

If successful, it will not only rescue Gu Ye, but also lay the foundation for a future revenge plan.

If she failed... she couldn't imagine the consequences.

The next morning, Murong Xuewei changed into a simple and elegant outfit and stood in front of the bronze mirror to carefully do her makeup.

Murong Xuewei must be in top form, because the upcoming negotiations will determine her and Gu Ye's fate.

"Madam, are you really determined to go to the palace?" Liuli asked worriedly.

Murong Xuewei tidied her hair one last time in front of the mirror, then turned around and smiled, "Don't worry, I know what I'm doing. You stay home and keep watch, don't let anyone know where I went."

Liuli nodded, tears welling in her eyes.

Murong Xuewei gently patted her shoulder, then turned and walked out of the room.

Before the palace gates, Murong Xuewei took a deep breath, straightened her back, and walked in.

She knew that from this moment on, she had stepped into a vortex fraught with danger.

After passing through numerous palaces, Murong Xuewei finally arrived outside the Imperial Study. The chief eunuch, Li Fu, greeted her with a beaming smile, "Madam Murong, His Majesty is waiting for you."

Murong Xuewei nodded slightly and followed Li Fu into the imperial study.

The Emperor was seated on his dragon throne when he saw Murong Xuewei enter, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes. "Xuewei's here! Please, have a seat."
