What came into view was Shen Xuan lying on the side of the sofa.

The bloodstains on the ground made his eyes almost bloodshot, and his rationality collapsed instantly.

……

In the hospital corridor, he covered his face with his hands, burying his forehead in his arms.

The onlookers exchanged anxious glances.

The operating room lights went out, the doctor came out, and gently shook his head.

"The patient's condition is critical; please be prepared."

Li Shulian looked at the doctor, a hint of regret flashing in her eyes, "How is the baby... how is the baby?"

"The patient himself is in critical condition, and you're asking about the child first? Sigh!" The doctor shook his head helplessly and turned to leave.

In short, Li Shulian collapsed and fainted on the spot.

The old butler came up the stairs at the end of the corridor, saw this scene, and roughly understood what had happened.

Li Siyuan kept his head down. The only bond between them had disappeared. What reason could he possibly have to keep her by his side?

Cheng Lu rushed over from the other side of the stairs.

Upon witnessing the scene before her, her expression changed drastically.

"Li Siyuan, did you make Xiaoxuan so angry?"

"Say something!" Cheng Lu rolled up her sleeves and gently nudged him.

Someone nearby quickly intervened: "What do you think you're doing? I'm warning you, don't mess around!"

Cheng Lu coldly swept her gaze around, then looked at Li Siyuan, a sneer curling her lips: "Li Siyuan, you went to great lengths to bring Xiaoxuan back to the Li family, and now you've sent her here? You really love her!"

"You'll regret it if anything happens to Xiaoxuan!"

"Miss, my wife suffered a miscarriage. It wasn't my husband's fault, so why are you always targeting him?"

"If your husband hadn't taken it upon himself to pester Xiaoxuan, would she be lying here?"

"Enough!" His two cold words instantly ended all the argument.

"You should all go back first!" Li Siyuan said in a low voice.

"But, madam..."

"go back!"

The person next to him seemed to want to say something, but he decisively interrupted them.

Knowing his temperament, everyone silently left the scene.

Soon, only Cheng Lu and the two of them remained in the corridor.

"Li Siyuan, how dare you still sit here? If anything happens to Xiaoxuan, you'll never have peace for the rest of your life."

Cheng Lu glared at Li Siyuan, gritting her teeth in anger, as if she wished she could stand up for her best friend.

Then, she walked to the intensive care unit at the end of the corridor.

Shen Xuan lay quietly inside, and Cheng Lu looked at her through the window lattice in the door, her heart filled with sorrow.

Li Siyuan's thoughts were occupied by the message Shen Xuan sent on his phone.

From the initial expectation of seeing her plea for help to her barely suppressed "I hate you," this period was undoubtedly the most desperate for her.

The three words "I hate you" were deeply imprinted in his mind; otherwise, his mind was blank.

He knew that he had once again driven her to the brink of despair, even pushing her to the edge of life and death.

At that moment, he fully understood reality.

There was no longer any reason for them to stay together.

He walked into the room expressionlessly, staring at the woman on the bed. She lay there quietly, with only the medical equipment beside her indicating that she still had signs of life.

He sat down by the bed, took her hand, and tears welled up in his eyes. "Please wake up. I'll set you free. I won't interfere with whatever you want to do anymore. Just wake up, please, wake up."

He called out repeatedly, but the person on the bed did not respond.

Cheng Lu, who was standing to the side, saw all of this but didn't know how to face such an ending.

“Li Siyuan, you should leave. Xiaoxuan doesn’t want to see you. Your presence here will only increase her pain and erode her will to live,” Cheng Lu said coldly.

The man paused, and his grip on her hand loosened slightly.

The words "I hate you" kept swirling in his mind, piercing his heart like a sharp knife.

He knew very well that his existence was nothing but a disgrace to her.

Perhaps, wherever he was, it was hell for her.

For someone in dire straits, whether or not they wake up seems irrelevant.

He suddenly felt a sense of bewilderment, stood up from the bedside, took a few steps back, and then rushed out of the room like a madman.

Cheng Lu wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes, gazed at the woman on the hospital bed whose face was ashen, and said softly, "From now on, no one will treat you like this again!"

……

Two years later.

Inside a luxurious presidential suite.

A woman dressed in business attire stood in front of a floor-to-ceiling window, gazing at the city view, her face serene and calm.

There was a knocking sound coming from behind the door.

She replied, "Please come in."

A man in a white suit walked in slowly, one hand in his pocket, his demeanor composed.

His gaze swept lightly over her back, but she did not turn around to look at him.

Through the reflection in the floor-to-ceiling window, he noticed that her face looked slightly pale.

"How have you been lately? How are you feeling?" he asked gently.

She didn't turn around, but just stared quietly out the window.

"Yes, I'm fine! I'm doing well," she replied softly, her voice coming from her nose.

Two years ago, she defied her family's wishes, broke ties with the Lu family, and forced him to take her away from the hospital and quickly leave the country.

She remained in a coma in the hospital for more than half a year before waking up, having almost lost the will to live.

Subsequently, she received treatment at several hospitals abroad, and through her unremitting efforts, her health improved slightly.

He placed the items he was holding on the table next to her, gazed at her figure, and said in a calm tone, "Xiao Xuan, people's emotions cannot be hidden from their hearts, especially their eyes."

"I want to go home." She didn't turn her head, her words sounding slightly stiff.

Lu Yucheng frowned slightly and asked with some unease, "You still can't let go of that person? He almost took your life, how can you forgive him?"

“No, I want to go back and get revenge, to take back everything I’ve lost.” She was emotional, her hands gripping her sleeves tightly.

Lu Yuchen sensed the deep hatred in her heart when she said those words.

He turned to the side, put his hands in his pockets, looked up and said seriously, "Xiao Xuan, marry me, and I will take you back to Jiangcheng."

Shen Xuan froze, her expression slightly stiff, then turned to look at him, her eyes filled with emotion.

Gazing at his handsome face, and thinking of everything he had done for her, her heart was filled with even more turmoil.

She longed to be with him, but whenever the experiences of the past two years came to mind, she dared not make a promise easily.

"No, I can't marry you."

She avoided eye contact, as if some invisible hand had gripped her heart, making it hard for her to breathe.

A year ago, when she had just woken up from a coma, she did think about spending the rest of her life with him. However, later, his mother came directly to her.

She promised that if she didn't stay with Lu Yucheng, the Lu family would help her settle down in Jiangcheng.

Lu Yuchen always believed that his mother approved of his decision to marry her, and was therefore willing to fight against the powerful Lu family for her sake.

Little did she know, this was a secret agreement between her and her mother.

"Xiao Xuan, you know what I'm thinking, so why are you treating me like this?"

"So, do you regret bringing me here two years ago?"

She gazed at his profile and asked earnestly.
