Xiao Bai had been squatting by the door. When it saw Mengmeng come out, it stretched out its paws and tugged at her trouser leg.

"Little White, have you been here all this time?"

"Mengmeng, Mengmeng, I thought you were going to sleep here tonight~"

Mengmeng stared at the closed door, her small body letting out a long sigh. "I told Mom a story, but she cried. Xiaobai, was my storytelling really that bad?"

When Xiaobai was in the orphanage, she heard Mengmeng tell stories. Even if they weren't good, she wouldn't have cried.

Seeing Mengmeng's melancholy expression, Xiaobai jumped into her arms. "Mengmeng, your mother isn't unhappy because of the story you told, it must be because of what happened during the day."

"What happened during the day?" Mengmeng asked, puzzled by his words.

“Yes, think about it. That naughty kid suddenly barged into the house during the day and made a mess of everything. Not only your mother, but even your father was in a bad mood because of him,” Xiaobai analyzed.

Although it didn't quite understand why a mere child would elicit such a strong reaction from Gu Yinshen and Ruolan, it could guess that something was behind the child that was affecting their emotions.

"Alright, Mengmeng, stop thinking about their adult problems. I'm so sleepy, let's go back to sleep." Xiaobai shook its head, found a comfortable position in Mengmeng's arms, and closed its eyes.

Having no idea how to solve the problem, she had no choice but to leave with Little White in her arms.

study.

Gu Yinshen sat at his desk, the computer in front of him playing surveillance video from the Gu residence during the day.

Lele has been wandering around outside for more than a day, and has struck up conversations with Ruolan more than once. If this continues so frequently, Ruolan will eventually find out about Ji Mengran's affairs.

He picked up his phone, scrolled through his contacts, and dialed a number that was just a string of numbers with no name.

“I have already sent you the photos. Get him out of Jiangcheng as soon as possible.”

Outside the door, a hand released its grip on the doorknob and silently turned to leave.

The next day.

The sky cleared, and crystal-clear water droplets clung to the green leaves, pushing and shoving each other as they fell to the ground.

Aunt Ping and Aunt Xue were busy preparing breakfast. One of them was tidying up in the kitchen, while the other was carrying the food from inside to outside.

Gu Yinshen came downstairs looking exhausted, glanced downstairs, and then went back upstairs again.

"Was it Mr. who came down just now?" Aunt Ping asked in confusion.

Aunt Xue mumbled in response, "It seems so."

Arriving at the door, Gu Yinshen reached out and turned the doorknob, then quietly entered the room.

Under the covers, Ruolan curled up, her entire face buried beneath them.

Gu Yinshen stood by the bed for a while, then leaned down and pulled the blanket off Ruolan a little. "Ruolan, it's time to get up!"

I went back to bed early yesterday morning to rest; my body was aching from sleeping for so long.

Hearing the calls, Ruolan did not move.

"Ruolan?" Gu Yinshen sat down on the edge of the bed and put his hand on Ruolan's shoulder.

Ruolan, who was under the covers, stirred slightly but did not respond to Gu Yinshen.

Faced with this neglect, Gu Yinshen's hand remained pressed against the blanket, not daring to move an inch. He didn't know how to break the silence, nor how to bridge the distance between them.

Time ticked by, and a heavy atmosphere filled the room.

His body was leaning forward, supported entirely by his right arm. His palm, pressed against the blanket, felt as if hundreds of ants were gnawing at him. Gu Yinshen wanted to move, but he was worried about disturbing Ruolan beside him. He took a deep breath and raised his hand with the least possible movement.

"I'm not hungry, you don't need to stay here with me," Ruolan said, breaking the silence in the room.

Gu Yinshen immediately said, "How could you not be hungry? You didn't eat last night."

His words were ignored once again, so Gu Yinshen simply reached out and pulled Ruolan's blanket down a little. "Ruolan, I know you're still angry with me because of what happened yesterday. But you can't let these things harm your health. When the time is right, I'll tell you everything."

What he called "opportunity" was nothing more than a delaying tactic in Ruolan's mind. Given enough time, she would simply stop wanting to know.

She turned over, deliberately trying to avoid Gu Yinshen's touch.

“Since you don’t want to eat now, I won’t force you. Tell me when you want to eat.” Gu Yinshen stood up. He stood by the bed without leaving immediately, still hoping that Ruolan would turn back.

However, all expectations ultimately came to nothing.

Gu Yinshen finally had no choice but to come out of the room.

With a click, Ruolan heard the door close, threw off the covers, and sat up in bed.

Last night, she clearly heard what Gu Yinshen said to the person on the other end of the phone, yet he acted as if nothing had happened in front of her. Was there something she couldn't possibly know?

"Daddy, where's Mommy?" Mengmeng happened to be standing at the bottom of the stairs. When she saw Gu Yinshen coming down with his face down, she immediately went up to him and asked.

“Mom is still resting, let’s eat first.” After saying that, Gu Yinshen did not pick up Mengmeng, but walked to the restaurant alone.

"Sir, isn't Madam coming down for breakfast?" Aunt Ping asked.

Faced with everyone's questions, Gu Yinshen sat at the dining table, looking at the breakfast in front of him, and no longer had any intention of pretending.

"Sir, aren't you going to eat?" Aunt Ping asked, looking puzzled.

He had just sat down when he stood up and left?

Gu Shiyu stood on the stairs and watched Gu Yinshen walk out dejectedly.

"Brother, Dad seems to be in a bad mood," Mengmeng said to Gu Shiyu with concern. She wondered if her little butterfly could improve Gu Yinshen's mood.

The only solution now is for Ruolan to return to her previous happy state; otherwise, Gu Yinshen will not recover.

"Mengmeng, let's have breakfast first. I'll comfort Dad. You have to go to kindergarten later, right? After breakfast, your brother will take you there."

"Brother, I think I'll skip kindergarten today. I want to stay home with Mom," Mengmeng said earnestly.

Dad has already left, and her brother has to go to school too. If she goes to school soon, only Mom will be home. She's feeling down and needs someone to be with her.

Gu Shiyu knew Mengmeng's plan, but Ruolan's current state meant that even with Mengmeng's company, nothing would change. In fact, it would only affect Mengmeng, making her even more anxious.

"Mengmeng, you should go to school. You don't need to stay at home because you miss your mother."

"Brother, you didn't want me to go to kindergarten a while ago, so why do you insist on making me go now?"
