Pretending?

But she is clearly Ruolan, she is herself, so why is she pretending?

Ruolan didn't understand why Old Madam Gu was so convinced that she wasn't Ruolan.

"Where's Yin Shen? Where is he?" Old Mrs. Gu looked towards the living room. She wanted to see what Gu Yin Shen was thinking, preferring a fake woman to Ji Mengran.

The commotion roared in the courtyard, but failed to rouse anyone from the house. Seeing Ruolan completely oblivious and out of sorts, Old Mrs. Gu forcefully shoved her aside and strode towards the living room with the air of a mistress.

Watching Grandma Gu's retreating figure, Ruolan hesitated before following Lan inside.

She firmly believed that there must be a misunderstanding. As Gu Yinshen's wife, she had to clear up the misunderstanding between her and Old Madam Gu for the sake of family harmony.

"Mom," Ruolan called softly, but as soon as she finished speaking, she was met with a sinister look from Old Madam Gu.

"Don't even think about getting close to me. Do you think I'll accept you, this imposter, just because you call me 'Mom' a few times?"

Even the real Ruolan couldn't be accepted by her, let alone the fake one in front of her!

Grandma Gu sat on the sofa, looking down at Ruolan who stood awkwardly in front of her. "Speak," she said, "who arranged for you to be by Yinshen's side?"

“No.” Ruolan shook her arms, trying to explain, “Yin Shen said that I fell into a coma due to excessive grief and shock, and only woke up a few days ago.”

"Unconscious?" Old Mrs. Gu laughed.

Do you really think that old people are easy to fool? This is such a childish answer.

She personally cut Ruolan's neck back then, and Ruolan stopped breathing right in front of her. Now she says she's just unconscious?

The smile in Old Mrs. Gu's eyes gradually turned terrifying. "The real Ruolan died three years ago, and she had a deep scar on her neck that I cut myself. How dare you impersonate a living dead in broad daylight? You've got some nerve!"

Gu Yinshen is infatuated with Ruolan, and while he knows the truth, he pretends to be oblivious, admitting she's an imposter. But she won't let an imposter so easily enter the Gu family and become its future mistress!

A few words shattered Ruolan's mental defenses.

How could that be? How could she be dead?

She reached out and touched her neck again, but there wasn't a single mark on it.

With a screeching sound, the car tires screech against the ground. Rapid footsteps echoed over the Gu family home. The living room door was pushed open forcefully, and Gu Yinshen, his entire being shrouded in gloom and surrounded by flames, strode towards Ruolan.

The hands that were resting on either side of her legs were clenched tightly. Ruolan looked down at her knuckles, which had turned white from the grip, and then looked up in surprise at Gu Yinshen's panicked and angry face. "Yinshen."

"I'm here." Gu Yinshen put his arm around Ruolan's shoulder, encircling her completely in his embrace.

When Old Madam Gu saw Gu Yinshen, her haughty demeanor vanished instantly. She coughed slightly, looking somewhat uneasy, trying to regain her composure. But seeing Gu Yinshen's gaze, she still felt a little embarrassed.

"Yin Shen, she doesn't..."

"Not what?"

Interrupted, Old Mrs. Gu's mouth gaped open, but she couldn't utter a sound. She saw murderous intent on Gu Yinshen's face; he actually harbored murderous intent towards her, his own mother, for the sake of the woman before him.

His hair stood on end, and he looked terrified.

Ruolan didn't want her involvement to worsen the relationship between Gu Yinshen and his mother, so she reached out and tugged at Gu Yinshen's sleeve, "Yinshen!"

A single sentence brought Gu Yinshen back to reality. With Ruolan still by his side, some things were not appropriate to say in front of her.

His gaze swept coldly over Old Madam Gu, and he spoke indifferently, issuing an order to leave, "I don't want to say anything more. Please leave here immediately!"

"Yin Shen, I am your mother!" Old Mrs. Gu shouted unwillingly.

Regardless, everything she did was for his own good. How could he, as her son, not understand her good intentions as a mother?

Gu Yinshen only wanted to soothe Ruolan's anxiety as soon as possible; he didn't want to say another word to Old Madam Gu. He put his arm around Ruolan's waist and gently led her upstairs.

Stepping onto the stairs, Ruolan turned back to look at Old Mrs. Gu, who was still standing in front of the sofa. Their eyes met, and she saw hatred and murderous intent in her gaze. A chill ran down her spine as she recalled Old Mrs. Gu's words to her.

"Yin Shen, I..."

"Ruolan, I know you have a lot of questions for me right now, and I will explain them to you one by one."

Hearing Gu Yinshen's promise, Ruolan had no choice but to nod.

......

Inside the kindergarten, Tangtang approached Mengmeng with candy in her hands.

"Mengmeng, this is for you."

"I have something for you too."

Mengmeng also took out the snacks she brought from home when she left home from her schoolbag.

After exchanging items, Mengmeng's gaze fell on the pastries in Tangtang's hands again, and she said with a smile, "Tangtang, my mom and I made these together. I'm really happy today, and I wish I could make pastries with my mom every day."

Tangtang listened, then lowered her head and took a small bite. The soft, chewy texture instantly filled her mouth with sweetness.

"What delicious snacks! Mengmeng, your mom's cooking is amazing!"

"Of course, my mom not only bakes desserts, but she also sews clothes for me. Oh, and she's also very beautiful and gentle. I hope she'll always be my mom."

Hearing Tangtang praise Ruolan, Mengmeng couldn't help but join in the praise.

After finishing her snack, Tangtang said to Mengmeng earnestly and joyfully, "Mengmeng, after my dad drank what you gave him, he can move his legs again!"

"Really? How is Uncle Tang doing now?" Mengmeng asked.

“Since Dad regained feeling in his legs, his mood has improved. The house feels like it’s back to normal again. I’m so happy, Mengmeng, it’s so good to have you!” Tangtang reached out and hugged Mengmeng.

Her arms were wrapped so tightly that Mengmeng had some difficulty breathing.

"Cough cough~" Mengmeng patted Tangtang's arm, "Tangtang, I can't breathe."

Upon hearing this, Tangtang quickly released Mengmeng. Seeing her flushed face and nervously rubbing her hands, she said, "Mengmeng, I'm sorry, I got too excited. Can you forgive me?"

"I'm not angry!" Mengmeng took Tangtang's hand and said, "We're good friends, and we won't get angry over small things. Besides, I'm happy that Uncle Tang's condition is improving. I'll bring you some fruits and vegetables tomorrow, and you can have them cooked for Uncle Tang."
