The richest man's parents were kidnapped, and his adorable son captivated the entire family.

The room returned to silence, with only the occasional night breeze blowing in from the window, gently swaying the curtains.

Xie Yumin, however, was wide awake.

She sat quietly on the edge of the bed, looking down at Mengmeng who had already fallen asleep, her gaze complex.

She had tampered with that glass of milk. It contained a powder with allergens, enough to trigger a mild skin allergy.

She didn't use a strong dose; she couldn't bring herself to do it. But even so, her heart was pounding.

"Mengmeng..." she murmured silently in her heart, her voice almost inaudible, "I'm sorry... I hope you'll never know that it was Auntie who did these things."

She lowered her eyelashes, her slender fingers tightly twisting the corner of the blanket, her heart filled with an indescribable sense of guilt and unease.

"I just... wanted to be with you so much." She sighed inwardly. "If Ruolan hadn't been so hostile towards me and refused to give me any chance to be alone with you, I wouldn't have resorted to this..."

As she spoke, she looked at the sleeping Mengmeng again. Her small body was curled up in the quilt, breathing evenly, with a peaceful expression.

But this peace did not last long.

A dozen minutes later, "Ugh... ooh..." Mengmeng on the bed suddenly frowned and hummed softly.

"Ah... Waaah, it hurts so much, it's so uncomfortable..." Her voice was choked with sobs, and tiny tears were welling up in the corners of her eyes. Her body was curled up slightly in the blankets, and her little hands kept scratching her arms and neck.

Then she quickly put on her coat, wrapped Mengmeng in her arms, and ran downstairs.

Her footsteps quickly alerted Ruolan on the second floor. The door was pushed open, and Ruolan hurriedly came out wearing a bathrobe. She was so shocked by what she saw that she opened her eyes wide.

"Miss Xie? What happened to you?"

Xie Yumin stopped and turned around, her expression full of anxiety: "Mengmeng suddenly had an allergic reaction. She broke out in a rash all over her body and said it hurts and itches. I have to take her to the hospital right away!"

"What?" Ruolan's expression changed drastically, her eyes filled with panic. She rushed over in three steps, looked down, and sure enough, saw the dense red spots all over Mengmeng's body. She panicked immediately.

"Mengmeng..." Her voice trembled, "What happened? Why did she suddenly have an allergic reaction?"

The doctor nodded and quickly cleaned, disinfected, and applied medicine to Mengmeng, then skillfully inserted an IV drip. The moment the needle pierced her skin, Mengmeng let out a soft "uh," but didn't cry. She just had red eyes and gripped Ruolan's hand tightly.

Xie Yumin stood to the side, quietly watching her profile with a deep gaze.

The medication took effect quickly; although the rash on her face was still dense, the pain and itching were significantly reduced. Without those symptoms bothering her, Mengmeng finally felt a belated drowsiness, lying on the hospital bed, looking rather sleepy.

Ruolan looked at her tired expression and her eyes softened.

She gently patted her back, her voice soft and gentle: "Are you sleepy? How about Mommy sings you a lullaby?"

Mengmeng nodded, her voice sweet and soft: "Okay..."

Ruolan stroked her hair and began to hum a soft, gentle melody.

Soon, Mengmeng fell asleep to the familiar singing.

Ruolan's gaze remained fixed on the girl's small face, her heart aching with increasing tenderness. But the doubts in her heart did not dissipate.

Mengmeng has always drunk this kind of milk and has never had any problems, so why tonight...?

The more she thought about it, the more uneasy she felt. So she gently tucked the blanket around her, then got up and walked out of the ward, finding the doctor who had just diagnosed Mengmeng at the end of the corridor.
