But if this child could come to her side, wouldn't all the abilities she possesses be at her disposal?

The moment the idea popped into her head, Old Mrs. Pei could no longer contain her excitement.

However, getting Mengmeng to come to her side is no small problem.

how should I do it?

Grandma Gu fell into thought.

……

Inside the McDonald's, Mengmeng sat on a chair, her legs dangling in mid-air, swinging excitedly. Seeing Gu Shiyu bring over the ordered food, she jumped off the chair excitedly.

"Sit down, I'll get it for you." Gu Shiyu was afraid that Mengmeng might accidentally spill the juice on the tray on herself.

Mengmeng's hand froze in mid-air because of his words. She stood there watching Gu Shiyu place the tray on the table.

"Brother, can Mengmeng eat now?" Mengmeng swallowed hard, smelling the aroma of the hamburger, and couldn't wait to take a big bite.

Gu Shiyu picked up one of the hamburgers, opened the outer shell, stuffed two pieces of paper at the bottom, and handed it to Mengmeng, saying, "Eat it."

"Thank you, brother." Mengmeng said sweetly, then eagerly took a big bite. Her little mouth was stuffed full, and she ate happily, her body swaying along with the food.

Reaching out to pick up another hamburger, Gu Shiyu took a bite, but didn't find it particularly delicious. He couldn't understand why Mengmeng liked it so much.

As Mengmeng ate, she glanced around at her surroundings.

Suddenly, she stopped chewing and stared intently out the window.

"What are you looking at?" Gu Shiyu asked, turning his head to look out the window.

A man dressed in ordinary casual clothes, leaning on a cane, was forced to stop in his tracks as people passed by him.

Gu Shiyu looked at the color of the cane; it was a cane specifically for the blind.

"Brother," Mengmeng said, her gaze still fixed on the window, "Mengmeng wants to go help the uncle outside."

He looked pitiful, and all sorts of people passing by were preoccupied with their own lives, with no one stopping to help him.

"Okay." Gu Shiyu nodded.

Mengmeng no longer cared about the delicious hamburger in her hand. She threw it back onto the tray, nimbly got off the chair, and ran outside.

Gu Shiyu called out worriedly from behind, "Slow down, don't fall!"

Before she could finish speaking, Mengmeng had already left the store and arrived in front of the man.

"Uncle, do you need any help?"

The man turned to the side, listening to the direction from which the sound came, and reached out with his free hand to touch the air.

Mengmeng immediately raised her hand in response, "Uncle, where are you going? Mengmeng and my brother can take you there."

"Mengmeng?" the man murmured.

"Yes, Uncle, Mengmeng is my name." Mengmeng moved from holding the man's hand to supporting his arm. "And Uncle? What's your name?"

Hearing the child's question, the man smiled and said, "You can just call me Uncle Lu."

"Uncle Lu?" Mengmeng repeated, her voice becoming clear and bright again. "Uncle Lu, where are you going now? Mengmeng and her brother are eating hamburgers and fries again. Uncle Lu, do you want to come along?"

"No, thank you," Lu Shengyan shook his head and declined. "I need to cross the street. If it's convenient for you, could you help me cross?"

"Of course." Mengmeng readily agreed, then turned around and saw Gu Shiyu walking towards her. She immediately told him, "Brother, let's help Uncle Lu cross the road!"

Gu Shiyu approached and carefully examined Lu Shengyan before speaking, "Uncle, where are you going? I can have my driver take you there."

"Thank you for your kindness, but I need to go to the other side of the street. My friend is waiting for me there," Lu Shengyan said.

Mengmeng carefully supported Lu Shengyan's arm, pointing out any objects in front of them.

At first, Lu Shengyan was somewhat shocked, but later he began to enjoy it. It was the first time someone had so carefully described the surrounding scenery to him, and he couldn't help but feel even more fond of Mengmeng.

"Uncle, we've arrived. Has your friend come yet?" Mengmeng asked with concern, glancing around at the pedestrians about to cross the street.

The so-called friend Lu Shengyan mentioned was actually his driver. Seeing how concerned Mengmeng was about his affairs, he pressed the remote control with his hand.

In the car some distance away, the driver, having received the message, immediately got out. He stared blankly for a few seconds at Mengmeng and Gu Shiyu beside Lu Shengyan before quickly reacting and striding towards them.

"Who are you?" the driver asked.

"These two children just helped me cross the road," Lu Shengyan quickly explained, then introduced Mengmeng and Gu Shiyu, "This is my friend, Changde. Thank you, we have other things to do, so we'll be leaving now."

"Goodbye, Uncle!" Mengmeng said politely.

Hearing the introduction, Changde was puzzled. Back in the car, he finally asked, "Mr. Lu, who are those two children?"

"Two very cute children. They saw me from across the street and offered to help me." Lu Shengyan said, then couldn't help but laugh.

Upon hearing this, Changde's doubts dissipated, and he smiled, "Just like the young master, if they could meet, they would probably become good friends."

"Yes." Lu Shengyan sighed as he thought of his children at home. "Let's go back."

In the distance, Mengmeng watched the car drive away before turning her gaze away.

"Brother, that uncle just now looked about the same age as Dad."

"Hmm, they look about the same."

"That uncle is so pitiful; it seems like he can't see anything."

The image of the man wearing black sunglasses and holding a cane flashed through his mind, and Gu Shiyu said, "He is blind."

"Luckily, he has a good friend who never abandons him," Mengmeng exclaimed.

friend?

Gu Shiyu looked in the direction the car had gone, his expression turning serious.

His so-called friend might just be his driver.

At first glance, he appears simply dressed, with limited mobility, and all alone. But upon closer inspection, he may be incredibly wealthy, a hundred times happier than those ordinary blind people with no money or power.

Pulling himself out of his thoughts, Gu Shiyu noticed that there were more people around him, so he reached out and took Mengmeng's hand, "Do you still want some hamburgers?"

"Eat!" Mengmeng quickly replied.

The green light next to them turned on, and the two crossed the zebra crossing and returned to the store. When they left, the food on the table had disappeared.

The staff had already cleared away the food and were wiping the table clean with a cloth.

The light in Mengmeng's eyes dimmed instantly, and she looked dejected, muttering sadly, "Mengmeng's hamburger and fries are gone..."
