EROS [Zerg]

Chapter 179 Escape

"Yes, I have considered doing that."

Eros lowered his head and whispered to Cardian, "I'm sorry, I..."

"Did you injure the female father because he was going to do something bad to you?" Kadian tried to keep his voice gentle.

"Yes, he wanted to kill me."

"why?"

“Because the lieutenant general is dead, he needs new test subjects.” Eros frowned, gritted his teeth, threw away the dignity he always wore on his shoulders, and pleaded, grabbing Cardian’s paw, “I have to get out of here, please help me.”

"I don't want to die." Eros was worried that Cardian would hand him over to Kowe because of the son of Yachung. If Cardian tried to stop him, he would not have a chance to escape at all.

After saying that, Eros even considered kneeling down to the other party.

Kadian helped him up:

"Don't be afraid, I'll help you get back to the Sixth Star System. Once you're there, even if some insects try to capture you, you can find legal protection there."

"If you help me, what will you do if General Kowe wants to investigate?" Eros was surprised.

“Don’t forget, I am also a nobleman.” Cardian chuckled softly.

“Besides being the female ruler of the male insect of the Eastlan family, I am also the female son of the head of the Set family. It’s not so easy for him to pursue me.”

"You must be very careful of him." Seeing Cardian's confidence, Eros felt uneasy.

“General Kowe will experiment on live insects, he…” Eros wanted to tell Cardian what he knew, but the words wouldn’t come out: “It’s terrifying.”

"Protect yourselves and the insect cubs..."

Eros added another reminder.

“Okay.” Cardian nodded and used his personal computer to find a way to buy Eros an interstellar ticket.

"I'll take you there."

Cardian piloted the spacecraft carrying Eros to the airport for interstellar travel. After waiting outside for a while, a bug came over and handed Cardian a card.

“This is your identity card. It will be used to verify your identity information when we board the spaceship later.” Cardian handed the identity card to Eros.

"Thank you." Eros took the identity card, stepped back, and bowed deeply to Cardian. "I am truly grateful to you. If there is anything I can do to help you in the future, I will definitely not refuse."

Cardian nodded: "I'm a good friend of Enel's. He asked me to take care of you, and I promised him I would. It's getting late, let's get on the ship, Eros."

Eros nodded and turned to walk toward the boarding passage.

The insect that Cardian found was very reliable, and Eros traveled without hindrance with the identity card he had obtained.

Even after boarding the interstellar spaceship, Eros remained in a state of bewilderment.

So much changed overnight.

Sitting on the crowded spaceship, Eros felt a sense of peace.

The universe outside the cabin window was still so deep and boundless, with a few silver stars occasionally streaking across the night sky.

"Hey bro, which galaxy are you headed to?"

Eros was gazing out the window in a daze when suddenly a pair of tentacles approached him.

The seats in the regular cabins of interstellar spaceships are all in three rows. Compared to the sleep pods in first class, sitting in such crowded seats for a long time is very uncomfortable.

To avoid being spotted, Cardian specifically chose this standard cabin for Eros.

Eros snapped out of his reverie and looked at the insect that had approached him, but didn't say anything. The insect, holding a hot drink, smiled and said, "I'm planning to go to an extraterrestrial star system. What about you?"

“Extraterrestrial galaxies are not safe places. What are you going there for?” another insect interjected.

"An extraterrestrial galaxy is recruiting mercenaries; I'm going there to apply."

"What are the benefits like there?"

"Aside from not being as socially important as female soldiers, the entry requirements and treatment are much better than those female soldiers. You should know that the basic monthly salary in a mercenary group is five times that of female soldiers in the regular army! This does not include the other income of mercenaries in extraterrestrial star systems. You should know that the mineral resources in extraterrestrial star systems are all unclaimed, and the price of some precious resources on the black market is extremely high."

"Is it really that good?"

……

Eros curled up his body again, turned his head wearily to the window, and continued to gaze at the vast universe.

Extraterrestrial galaxies are not easy places to stay. Eros had learned about this during his internship a few months ago. All the space outside the Zerg territory is called extraterrestrial galaxies.

The outer star systems are fraught with danger. Star beasts, aliens, space pirates, and other deadly monsters can launch surprise attacks and hunt you down at any time.

The same reason why the government hired mercenary groups instead of sending regular troops to explore is also due to this.

Training a female soldier in a regular army requires far more resources than the pay demanded by mercenaries who are self-taught, and there are often examples of mercenaries losing their lives before they even receive their pay.

Eros glanced at the female insect sitting next to him, who was talking to the insect he had just spoken to, and kept telling him about the wonderful treatment of mercenaries. He had no doubt that he had encountered a shill for those mercenaries.

Back in the Sixth Star System Legion, Eros often listened to Blow explaining anti-fraud knowledge to some of the younger female soldiers.

One of the stories involves these creatures mingling in ordinary interstellar ships, deceiving female insects with low levels of education into joining mercenary groups. This is because the Empire allocates funds based on the number of insects in a mercenary group, and the more multipliers a mercenary group has, the more funds it receives.

Therefore, mercenary groups would specifically recruit a type of insect recruiter to lure female insects into their ranks. For each female insect recruited, they would receive a portion of the bounty.

Compared to joining a mercenary group and working in dangerous extraterrestrial galaxies, this kind of scamming is a safer and more lucrative way to make a living.

Whether the female insects who were tricked into joining the mercenary group will ultimately receive the high wages promised by these shills remains a mystery.

The spaceship Eros was traveling on passed through the first star system, the fifth star system, the sixth star system, and finally arrived at the eighth star system.

Eros roughly calculated the time and figured he would be spending about half a month on the ship.

Eros was uneasy, thinking that by the time he disembarked, he might already be wanted by the authorities.

The thought of being wanted by the police terrified him, reminding him of that dark, gloomy basement filled with the stench of decay.

Having woken up from nightmares for what felt like the umpteenth time, Eros gave up trying to numb himself with sleep. He touched the cold sweat on his back, felt a sharp pain in his stomach from hunger, and then checked his pockets to find three star coins.

Three star coins can buy three bottles of nutrient solution on the home planet, but only two bottles on the spaceship.

Eros dared not use his account lightly; he shut down his terminal as soon as he entered the airport, fearing that his whereabouts would be revealed.

Eros took the two bottles of nutrient solution, took only two careful sips, and then carefully put the rest away.

For the next ten days or so, he only had this much food. Eros wanted to conserve it now so that he could withdraw the star coins from his account at the black market after reaching the sixth star system and have a proper meal.

In the cramped seat, Eros stretched his limbs slightly, then curled up again to prepare to fall asleep again and slow down the consumption of energy.

He had just closed his eyes when a sudden, tremendous force caused his head to slam hard against the glass window beside him.

"Ah, hiss——"

Eros clutched his head, opened his eyes in pain, and saw only the bewilderment and terror on the faces of the female insects around him.
