EROS [Zerg]

Chapter 169 Why the Cowardice?

Alex was wheeled into the operating room, while Eros was left outside, standing helplessly in the cold, white corridor outside the operating room.

The female insect looked at her claws that had just struck Alex with self-reproach, constantly blaming herself for being so irrational and causing Alex to end up like this.

Two weeks passed, and there was still no news from the operating room. Eros's anxiety grew stronger, and he kept praying that this torment would pass quickly and that Alai would come out of the operating room safely.

Eros thought about Alex's current pitiful state, and how even more pitiful he was without any house bugs by his side.

However, he did not have the communication account of the Dahonlik family insects, and only vaguely remembered that he had met Alex's female father before. Some insects said that he seemed to be the Grand Inspector of the Empire.

As Eros searched for public phone numbers for government departments on the StarNet, dialing repeatedly only to be met with perfunctory responses and hung up on, he felt as if he had returned to the helpless time when he was first hospitalized and had no money to pay his hospital bills, forced to search for Commander Enel level by level.

Surrounded by unease, anxiety, shame... negative emotions, Eros suddenly realized in an instant how cowardly he had been.

Who would want to bother with a timid female insect?

Could he possibly expect to have a benevolent ant like Commander Enel to help him every time?

Having figured this out, Eros dialed the prosecutor's office's public communication channel once again.

Before the other party could impatiently answer and try to brush him off again, Eros preemptively said, "This is Eros Eastland. Please transfer me to Grand Inspector Sind. I have something very important to tell him. It concerns you, the male insect. Please transfer me immediately."

Eros's voice in the communication was quite cold and hard, and he even added a threat at the end: "If the communication cannot be transferred in time, and the rights of the male insect are infringed, I will file a complaint with the Male Protection Association."

The other party was speechless at this cold and hard attitude. He tried to refuse but found that Eros' attitude was very unreasonable and he wouldn't listen to reason at all.

"Sir, we don't have the authority..."

"Then let's find an authorized insect to take over."

After a series of back-and-forth maneuvers between Eros and the wireworm, Eros finally managed to get through to Alex's adoptive father, Inspector Sind, by dialing a hard-won communication number.

Sinde was originally investigating a case in which a noble male insect sued a female ruler. Because the female insect's family was a level higher than the male insect's, the case, which should have been simple, became very complicated.

So when his subordinate stood behind him with a conflicted look on his face, he asked in a reproachful tone, "What's wrong? Why are you standing there like an idiot?"

The subordinate reluctantly recounted in detail how the operator in his department had encountered a harassing phone call, in which the caller specifically requested to communicate with Sinde.

"Related to male insects?" Sind felt a sense of familiarity upon hearing Eros's name, but he was more concerned about the "harassing phone call" that mentioned the Eastlan family and the Kritata family. One was a powerful noble family second only to the Kaveno family in terms of influence outside the royal family, and the other was a large family that was one of the oldest noble families on the insect planet.

After much deliberation, Sind gave his contact number to his assistant.

Soon, Sind's terminal showed that a bug had sent a communication invitation.

"Hello, I'm Sind."

After receiving a 13-digit communication account number, Eros immediately made the call. Alex was still in surgery and Eros couldn't help him. He wanted to ask Sind, as Alex's adoptive father, if he could step in.

I don't expect Alex to receive much medical assistance, but at least I hope that his adoptive father can be by his side during this dangerous time.

“Prosecutor Sind, I am Eros, a friend of Alex.”

Sind's previously solemn expression froze as he listened to Eros's words on the communication about Alex's current dangerous situation. He stood up abruptly and rushed out of the office without even putting on his coat.

As Sind ran toward the hangar where the aircraft were parked, he contacted all the insects he could find to go to the St. Cascades Hospital to rescue his insect offspring, completely disregarding the words his lord had once said about driving Alex out of the house.

When he arrived at the Santa Claus Christmas Market, some insects were already waiting for him outside the hospital. The director of the Santa Claus Christmas Market had already arranged for a highly skilled doctor to enter the operating room after receiving a call from his superiors.

When Sind stepped outside the operating room, he saw Eros standing in the corner with a face that was almost identical to that of his student.

"Why is this happening?" Sind walked up to Eros. "What exactly happened?"

Eros recounted the whole story, looking remorseful: "It's all my fault, I shouldn't have been so impulsive."

"You're the one who ruined my insect cubs like this?" Sind's clenched fists cracked as he looked at Eros's remorseful and guilty face, a strange sense of disgust rising within him.

"Are you out of your mind?! Who gave you permission to sign without my permission?!"

Sind abandoned his usual composure, punched Eros hard, and roared, "If anything happens to Alex, I'll take your life!"

Sinde is a female insect who has undergone a complete military education and fought in countless star systems. Although she is now engaged in a civilian position, she once worked in the military until she reached the rank of colonel before transferring to a civilian position.

Eros took a solid punch to the face from Sind's furious outburst; the insect scales on his half-insect fist scraped his cheek raw and tore through the flesh.

Eros felt as if his left cheek was being burned, his teeth were aching and numb, and his vision was blurry. If he hadn't been holding onto the wall, he would have collapsed to the ground by now.

Eros forced himself not to make any sounds of pain, trying his best not to appear embarrassed.

"You got into military school and became a nobleman. How much have you, a former prostitute, gained with that face?" Sind pinched Eros's bleeding cheek, his eyes filled with anger, and threatened in a suppressed voice, "Do you think the other insects are as stupid as my Alex, treating you as a true friend and being fooled by you? You're nothing but a plaything for them to remember insects by looking at other things."

"Sending you back would be as simple as saying a word."

Eros felt a surge of resentment and bitterness as he listened to Sind's belittling and threats. He broke free from Sind's grasp and shouted in frustration, "Enough!"

“I am Eros. I have committed no crime and should not be guilty. I am not the substitute for Evanson that you speak of. I am not a plaything that any insect can dabble in.”

“I am a citizen of the Empire. No insect can judge me at will. Even if you are the Grand Prosecutor of the Empire, you cannot judge an innocent person like me!”

After speaking, Eros took a step back, looking at Sind's astonished face. He was about to say something when he saw the operating room door open and several doctors walk out.

"Both eggs are safe, congratulations. One of the male eggs is developing very well, and there is also a sub-female egg."

"The female insects inside can be sent to the ward. Because the patient experienced a mental breakdown during the surgery, the restraints need to be kept on for at least five days before they can be removed..."

The doctors gave him a lot of instructions, but Eros stood in the corner, his mind only on the fact that Alex was still alive.

Without waiting for Alex to come out of the operating room, Eros quietly turned and left the corridor outside the operating room.
