Chapter 148 The Past of the Insect King (4)
"Enough! Ina, I'm a male insect!"
"Look at me now, how am I living like a male insect?! My female lord would rather raise an extremely disrespectful female insect offspring than have my offspring!"
"You're too willful, you've gone too far!"
"You are insulting a precious A-grade male insect of the Empire!"
Darles was so agitated he almost jumped up. He grabbed Ina's collar, his eyes filled with grievance and accusation.
"You liar! You big liar!"
A hint of annoyance flashed across Ina's brow: "Dales, I've done everything I promised you."
"What do you mean by this?!" The female's annoyed expression did not escape Dalles' notice. He felt his pride was deeply hurt. How could he allow a female insect to look down on him?
“Dales, stop pretending to be so innocent. You’re no different from those self-righteous male insects.” Ina left the male insect’s bed and looked down at him with disdain: “You chose to marry me back then only because I was the Insect King. Marrying me would make you the Insect Emperor. The affection you have for me is only because I can give you expensive jewelry.”
"No, I'm not that kind of bug!" Darles' emotions became agitated again. He retorted hastily, his sluggish bug nucleus making him stammer, looking exasperated.
“If you were any smarter, Dallas would have shut your mouth right now and continued to enjoy your privileged life as the insect emperor. You definitely wouldn’t have had a bad life.”
"Ina, what do you mean?!" Dallas finally sensed something was wrong and panicked: "Do you want me to be just a decoration in your Sepoli Castle?!"
Tears of panic welled up in the male insect's eyes.
"What else do you want to do with me? Do you want me to kneel down to show off your superiority?" Ina tilted her head back and smiled.
"Dales, don't forget that I am the Insect King. Only the male insects who marry me will become Insect Emperors. There can be thousands upon thousands of Insect Emperors, but there is only one Insect King."
"I'm already tired of you, and now you stupid thing can forget about binding me."
"No! No!" Darles shouted in terror, "This is a violation of the Male Insect Protection Law! The Male Insect Protection Association will come and arrest you!"
"You really are a fool." Ina turned and walked to the floor-to-ceiling window of the male insect's room, sneering, "I am the Insect Emperor, the supreme commander of the legions of the eight star systems!"
"Do you think the Male Insect Protection Law is meant to protect useless male insects like you who are lazy and can't even tell the difference between crops? Don't forget that the Male Insect Protection Law was drafted by female insects, and it is also implemented by female insects. I am the queen of female insects. So, whose interests does the Male Insect Protection Law ultimately protect?"
"The only reason we keep you despicable males around is to make you willingly use the last of your ridiculous worth."
"Only those female insects at the bottom who haven't seen a male insect for hundreds of years would be willing to treat you useless insects who can't do anything right as treasures."
Darles stared in horror at the female insect who had revealed her true nature before him; he had never truly known the female insect before him.
He pointed a trembling claw at the female insect queen, who was a shoulder taller than him: "I'm going to the Male Insect Protection Association! I want a divorce!!"
Ina's shoulders twitched, as if she had heard something ridiculous, and she ordered the guards outside the door, "Emperor Darles is ill and needs to rest. Don't let him go out."
"You're going to imprison me?!" Dalles stared wide-eyed at Ina, who had already reached the room's door, in disbelief. "You can't do this..."
"Keep a close eye on the Insect Emperor. Don't let him leave this jeweled palace until his illness is cured," Ina coldly ordered the guards.
The guards here are all his insects; as long as Darles can't send messages out, he will be trapped here forever.
But even if the male insect can send out distress signals, who will come to his rescue?
Is it the mid-level noble family, Dedra? Or some other male insect?
Would those male insects, indulging in debauchery, challenge His Majesty the Insect Emperor of the Empire for a male insect that has nothing?
"Father!"
As soon as Ina stepped out of the Jewel Palace, she saw the female insect cub, dressed in loose pajamas, run out and beckon to her.
“Evanson?” Ina stepped forward and picked up the insect cub. “How did you get here?”
“I came to find you.” Evanson leaned on Ina’s shoulder, looking at the beautiful, dazzling jeweled palace in front of them. “Father, that castle is so beautiful. Can I go inside and take a look?”
Young cubs find it hard to resist the beauty of vibrant colors.
Ina looked down into Evanson's eyes: "Of course, but only when you've grown that tall."
Ina gestured a height that usually only reaches three- or four-year-old cubs. He thought that when Evanson reached that age, he would be sensible enough not to reveal the news even if he saw the Dales Insect Emperor in the Gem Palace.
Evanson grew very quickly, even a little beyond Ina's expectations. The little bug had just finished its first year in this world when it excitedly ran to the bug king's legs and gestured with its claws above its head.
"Ina, look, I've grown so tall!"
"Take me to the Gem Palace!"
The cub tugged at Ina's clothes, looking expectantly at the tall female insect beside it, gently rubbing its body against the female insect's neck, trying to please her while acting coquettishly.
Ina couldn't resist him, so she nodded in agreement.
When Evanson first entered the Gem Palace, everything around him seemed strange and wonderful. Every brick and tile in the magnificent hall exuded an air of luxury. Sunlight shone through the colorful and rare gems inlaid on the dome, casting colorful light onto the jade floor, creating exquisite illustrations of ancient myths.
“It’s so beautiful,” Evanson exclaimed, then asked the guard who had followed him:
"Why did Your Majesty build such a beautiful house?"
The guard replied, "This is a gift from His Majesty the Insect King to Emperor Dales."
"Who is the Dales Insect Emperor? I've never seen him before?" Evanson wondered for a moment, then a thought suddenly popped into his head: "Is he still alive? Was this palace built in his honor?"
"Your Highness, Emperor Dales is still alive, but he is ill and staying in his room. We should not disturb him..."
The guard was explaining to Evanson when he was interrupted by a loud shout.
"I'm not sick!"
"I'm not sick!!"
A male insect with long, flowing hair walked up to the castle's high gallery. His eyes were bloodshot as he looked at the female insects who had just entered the castle. Suddenly, he rushed down the stairs, screaming in despair as he ran: "Ina, you liar! He's a liar!"
"He imprisoned me! I'm not sick!!"
