"The highest good is like water. Water benefits all things without striving, and dwells in places that others disdain, thus it is close to the Way."

“Dwell in a good place, keep your heart deep, be kind to others, speak truthfully, be capable in your work, and act at the right time.”

"Because he does not contend, he is without fault."

These lines also come from another famous book on Earth: Chapter 8 of the *Tao Te Ching*!

He could tell that the old man was struggling and could easily go mad. Although he didn't know what was wrong with him, since the other party asked the question using Lao Tzu's Tao Te Ching, it would be best for Li Lan to answer the same question with the same old man's answer.

As soon as Li Lan finished speaking, the old man was startled. A clear light suddenly flashed in his reddened eyes, and he stood up abruptly, repeatedly chanting:

"The highest good is like water; it does not contend, therefore it is without fault... The highest good is like water! Good, good, good!"

At that moment, countless densely packed threads in the old man's mind seemed to be cut through by a pair of scissors, and his thoughts became clear in an instant. It was truly like being enlightened and suddenly enlightened. He even burst into laughter!

"Hahaha, the highest virtue is like water, the highest form of mountain is like water, I've succeeded, I've succeeded!"

The old man tossed aside the ancient parchment scrolls he was holding and bowed directly to Li Lan, saying, "Yan Zhan wishes to pay respects to the venerable sage! Thank you for your guidance, venerable sage!"

I was incredibly excited.

Li Lan hurriedly replied, "Fellow Daoist, you are too polite. It was just a small favor, no need for such formality!"

Yan Zhan wanted to stand up, but the madness in his eyes just now seemed to have vanished, and he regained a rare clarity.

His eyes were filled with complex emotions. He glanced around and couldn't help but say, "Ten years of seclusion, and only today have I awakened from this dream!..."

He shook his head, seemingly mocking his own foolishness, yet he couldn't help but feel fortunate that all his obsessions had finally been released today!

"May I ask where you come from, senior? And why are you here?"

He looked at Li Lan and asked respectfully yet doubtfully, "Senior, have you ever studied the knowledge of the Primordial Emperor Star?"

It should be noted that the questions that have trapped him for so many years originated from some fragments of the Primordial Emperor Star!

The fragment he obtained back then contained only a few dozen words, but after just one glance, he was completely captivated and unable to extricate himself. He struggled to decipher it for ten years. If the person before him did not possess extremely profound knowledge, it would be absolutely impossible for him to guide him out of this predicament!

Therefore, he respectfully addressed the other person as "senior"!

Where I came from, I have forgotten.

Li Lan shook his head and said, "I once mistakenly entered the underworld, but was fortunate enough to be guided by a young girl from the academy. Today I have returned to the mortal world, and I have forgotten all my past!"

Upon hearing this, Yan Zhanyu was even more surprised and asked, "Senior, did you return from the underworld?"

Li Lan then recounted how Xu Caiwei had guided him. After listening, Yan Zhanyu exclaimed in admiration:

"I have explored the underworld of Nan Yaoxing many times, but I have found nothing. Over the years, at least eight hundred cultivators have mistakenly entered it, but only you, senior, have returned. This shows that you have profound good fortune!"

"Senior, have you ever seen this fragment before?"

When Yan Zhanyu received Li Lan's guidance and suddenly understood everything, his desire to learn became even stronger. He presented an ancient sheepskin scroll to Li Lan with both hands.

Li Lan glanced at it and was quite surprised to see that it contained only a few dozen words from the Tao Te Ching.

This old man, because of a few words in the Tao Te Ching, got caught up in a debate about good and evil and almost went mad.

Judging from this, the old man in front of us is truly exceptional and is definitely a genius!

Ordinary people would never be able to grasp the profound meaning of the Tao Te Ching.

However, genius is both a blessing and a curse. The articles he possessed were incomplete, so while he glimpsed a ray of transcendent light, he could not fully comprehend their profound meaning, which ultimately led him to bewilder himself.

After a moment's thought, Li Lan said, "This item should come from the Tao Te Ching, but it's incomplete. The Tao Te Ching has 3,600 words!"

"But I can't remember it either. If I hadn't met you today, I probably wouldn't even be able to recall the three words 'Tao Te Ching'."

He shook his head.
