Song Zhi shakily reached into her pocket and struggled for a long time before finally pulling out her phone.

Her fingers were almost frozen stiff, making it difficult to even bend them, but she still gritted her teeth and pressed the answer button.

"Hey, Ninth Brother, aren't you home?"

Upon hearing this, Fu Lu did not offer any further explanation: "I'm sorry, I'll be there soon."

"I'm at the gate, and since I'm not a resident here, they won't let me in. I'm freezing to death."

Song Zhi's tone carried a hint of complaint, but more than that, it was filled with grievance.

"Excuse me, wait a moment."

After saying that, he hung up the phone before Song Zhi could even speak.

Song Zhi stared blankly at the black screen of her phone, feeling somewhat bewildered.

She had originally planned to tell Fu Lu that she could leave the things with the security guard and have him come and get them himself.

But who would have thought that before he could even say a word, Lawyer Fu would hang up the phone so hastily.

Just as Song Zhi was hesitating whether to hand the lunchbox over to the security guard for safekeeping, the security guard's cheerful voice came from behind her: "Oh, little girl, come in quickly."

Song Zhi turned her head and looked at the gatekeeper with a surprised expression.

The security guard continued with a smile, "You should have said you were Mr. Fu's family member earlier. It's so cold outside."

Song Zhi's lips twitched, and she muttered to herself: "Hindsight is 20/20, and they call them family members."

Song Zhi politely said, "Uncle, I won't go in. Could you please give this to Mr. Fu for me?"

As she spoke, Song Zhi handed the thermos cup she was carrying to the gatekeeper.

Upon seeing this, the security guard's gaze immediately fell on the thermos, and a knowing smile appeared on his face as he teased, "Oh ho, is this some kind of love dinner?"

Hearing him say that, Song Zhi felt embarrassed and her cheeks flushed slightly, but she just smiled shyly and didn't say anything to explain.

Seeing this, the gatekeeper quickly waved his hand and said, "Alright, alright, young lady, you should take it up yourself. Mr. Fu specifically instructed that you go up and wait for him."

With that, he opened the door and gestured for Song Zhi to go inside.

Seeing this, Song Zhi didn't insist any further. She hugged the insulated lunchbox tightly and turned to walk slowly into the residential area.

A few minutes later, Song Zhi arrived at the door of Fu Lu's house.

She stopped and was about to take out her phone to call Fu Lu to ask for the door code when she heard the electronic lock in front of her suddenly emit a crisp mechanical sound.

"Facial recognition successful. Welcome home."

Then, with a soft "click," the door in front of them slowly opened automatically...

Song Zhi's eyes widened, her face full of surprise.

How did it get successfully recognized?

When did Fu Lu put his face inside?

Song Zhi had no memory of it at all.

She has absolutely no memory of it!

Just then, Fu Lu stepped out of the elevator and saw Song Zhi standing there dumbfounded at her door, holding a thermos and staring blankly at the door, not even realizing that it was open.

"Song Xiaozhi, what are you standing here for? Are you acting as a door god?"

Fu Lu chuckled and teased as he strode toward Song Zhi.

Upon hearing the voice, Song Zhi abruptly raised her head, looked at Fu Lu, and said in surprise, "How come you're back so soon?"

Fu Lu walked up to Song Zhi and naturally reached out to take the bag from her hand.

However, when his fingertips touched Song Zhi's icy fingers, he couldn't help but frown slightly and mutter softly, "Why are these little hands so cold?"

Song Zhi quickly forced an awkward smile, then pointed to the bag in Fu Lu's hand and explained, "Grandma made this herself. You should eat it while it's hot. I... I'll be going now."

As soon as she finished speaking, she turned to leave.

But to everyone's surprise, Fu Lu reacted quickly, grabbing Song Zhi's shoulder and pushing her forcefully into the house without saying a word.

"Don't rush off, come in first and we'll talk."

Fu Lu's tone left no room for argument.

Before Song Zhi could even utter a word of refusal, she was unwittingly pushed into the room by Fu Lu.

She stood awkwardly at the door, her hands nervously clutching the hem of her clothes, her eyes darting around, and she said softly, "I don't need to come in. My feet are wet, and I'll make the floor dirty."

As she spoke, she slightly raised one foot to show Fu Lu the wet sole of her shoe.

Upon hearing this, Fu Lu lowered his head slightly, his gaze naturally falling on Song Zhi's feet.

The color of the shoe surface had darkened due to the water stains.

Song Zhi seemed to notice Fu Lu's gaze and subconsciously pulled her foot back, as if she wanted to hide herself.

However, Fu Lu didn't care about any of this. He simply placed the bag he was carrying on the cabinet in the entryway, and then without hesitation, reached out his right hand to grab Song Zhi's slender wrist and led her towards the living room.

Song Zhi was startled by this sudden action and instinctively struggled, shouting, "What are you doing? Let me go!"

But Fu Lu seemed not to hear her, and continued to pull her forward with undiminished strength.

Finally arriving at the sofa in the living room, Fu Lu stopped, let go of her hand, and slowly bent down, gently but firmly pressing down on Song Zhi's shoulder to help her sit down.

Song Zhi looked up at the man in front of her with a puzzled expression and asked again, "What are you doing?"

Fu Lu stood in front of Song Zhi, looking down at the girl before him.

He reached out his left hand and gently tucked a few strands of hair that had fallen across Song Zhi's cheeks behind her ears, saying in a gentle tone, "Sit down first, be good, and don't move around."

After saying that, he turned and walked quickly toward the bathroom.

Not long after, Fu Lu came out of the bathroom with a basin full of hot water in his hand.

Song Zhi stared blankly at him, completely bewildered, and couldn't help but ask again, "Ninth Brother, what exactly are you trying to do?"

Fu Lu walked up to Song Zhi, carefully placed the basin beside her feet, squatted down, and explained softly, "It's so cold outside, your feet must be frostbitten, right? Soaking them in hot water can warm them up and keep them warm, otherwise you'll easily get frostbite."

As he spoke, he reached out without hesitation to grab Song Zhi's foot and quickly and efficiently took off her shoes.

Song Zhi was completely taken aback by Fu Lu's actions and was speechless with surprise.

Especially when she realized that Fu Lu was going to wash her feet, she felt a surge of shyness and her cheeks flushed instantly.

"No...no need, I'll just soak it when I get home."

Song Zhi stammered, while trying to forcefully pull her foot back.

However, Fu Lu's hand gripped her ankle tightly like an iron clamp, showing no sign of loosening.

Immediately afterwards, he removed Song Zhi's socks and then pressed her feet into the steaming basin of water without hesitation.

"Take a soak, otherwise you'll easily get frostbite in this cold weather."

Fu Lu said softly, his tone gentle and concerned.

Song Zhi was about to move, but before she could speak, Fu Lu's voice reached her ears.

"Be good, don't move."
