Chapter 51 Conspiracy Exposed, Reputation Restored
"Scholar Wang, it's been a long time." Su Jinxin's voice was clear and melodious, yet it carried a hint of chill that was barely perceptible.
Wang Xiucai let out a hiccup, squinted at Su Jinxin, and mumbled, "You...you are...Su...Su..."
Su Jinxin smiled slightly, not urging him, and quietly waited for him to remember her name. Yan Cheng'an observed Wang Xiucai's reaction discreetly from the side.
"Miss Su... Miss Su?" Wang Xiucai finally remembered, a hint of panic flashing in his eyes. He instinctively wanted to leave, but Yan Cheng'an blocked his way.
“Scholar Wang, don’t be in such a hurry to leave,” Yan Cheng’an said gently, yet with an undeniable air of authority. “We have some things we would like to ask you.”
Su Jinxin took out a piece of paper from her sleeve. It was covered with crooked handwriting and was the evidence that Wang Xiucai had spread rumors to slander the Su family's shop.
"Do you recognize these?" Her tone was icy, her eyes sharp as knives.
Wang Xiucai's face was deathly pale, and fine beads of sweat appeared on his forehead.
He hesitated and was speechless for a long time.
Su Jinxin sneered and threw the papers in her hand in front of him. "Who paid you to write these things and ruin the reputation of my Su family?"
Wang Xiucai trembled as he picked up the papers from the ground, his eyes darting around, unable to meet Su Jinxin's gaze.
He was a greedy and lustful man who couldn't resist temptation. He accepted money from his competitors and wrote articles to slander the Su family's shops.
Su Jinxin deliberately spread the news that Wang Xiucai had accepted bribes, and also released some false information to lure the mastermind behind the scenes to show up.
Rumors spread like wildfire throughout the city, and some people who were unaware of the truth began to boycott the Su family's shops, greatly increasing Su Jinxin's business pressure.
That evening, Su Jinxin received an anonymous letter inviting her to meet at an abandoned temple outside the city.
Yan Chengan was worried that there was a trap and wanted to go with her, but Su Jinxin refused.
“Don’t worry, I’ll be fine,” she said with a determined look in her eyes. “This is an opportunity, and I must seize it.”
Su Jinxin arrived alone at the abandoned temple. The night wind howled, the shadows of the trees swayed, and the atmosphere was eerie and tense.
She slowly walked into the temple, when suddenly, a dark figure darted out from the corner... "Su Jinxin, you've finally arrived."
The shadowy figure gradually came into focus; it was Su Xiaoxiao's maid, Cui'er.
Behind Cui'er followed several burly men, each with a fierce look on their faces.
"Su Jinxin, my young lady said that as long as you are willing to give up everything of the Yan family and hand over all your businesses, she will let you go!" Cui'er shouted fiercely, while the burly men behind her waved their sticks, trying to intimidate Su Jinxin.
Su Jinxin, however, was not afraid at all, and a cold smile appeared on her lips.
"Su Xiaoxiao is really still up to no good. Even after falling to such a state, she's still trying to scheme against me?" She slowly pulled out a stack of papers from her sleeve. "It seems you haven't grasped the current situation."
Cui'er was taken aback, looking at the paper in Su Jinxin's hand with confusion. "What's that?"
"This is Wang Xiucai's handwritten confession, as well as evidence of your collusion with your competitors to frame the Su family's shop." Su Jinxin's tone was icy, and every word pierced Cui'er's heart like an ice pick.
Cui'er's face turned deathly pale instantly. She subconsciously looked at the burly men behind her, only to find that they were also in a state of panic.
Su Jinxin actually had all the evidence!
How can this be?
"Impossible! You...you must be lying!" Cui'er tried to remain calm, but her trembling voice betrayed her fear.
"Liar?" Su Jinxin sneered, unfolding the papers in her hand one by one. "This evidence is irrefutable, leaving no room for denial. Not only that, I also know who ordered you to do this." Her gaze was piercing, staring directly into the darkness behind Cui'er. "Come out, stop hiding."
As soon as the words were spoken, a figure slowly emerged from the darkness.
It was Mr. Qian, a competitor of the Su family.
Boss Qian's face turned ashen, and he stared at Su Jinxin with a sinister look in his eyes.
"Su Jinxin, you are indeed amazing, you actually managed to trace it back to me."
"It's not that I'm clever, it's that you're all too stupid," Su Jinxin mocked without any politeness. "For such a paltry gain, you dare to so blatantly frame my Su family. You're just asking for trouble."
"You..." Boss Qian was furious but speechless.
Su Jinxin glanced around, her eyes sharp. "Today, I've called you all here to expose the truth." She raised the evidence in her hand. "These are the irrefutable proof of your crimes!" She turned to the temple entrance and called out loudly, "Fellow villagers, please come out!"
As she spoke, a group of people surged in from outside the temple… “This…” Boss Qian’s expression changed drastically as he looked at the crowd that had poured in.
Among the surging crowd were respected clan leaders from the city, regular customers of the Su family's shop, and ordinary people who had been incited by Wang Xiucai.
Su Jinxin explained the whole story and presented the evidence in her hands one by one. Everyone then realized that the Su family had been framed!
"This scholar Wang, despite his extensive reading of Confucian classics, has committed such a despicable act!" the clan chief exclaimed in anguish.
"The Su family has always been honest and fair to all, young and old. We have all misunderstood them!" The customers expressed their apologies one after another, and their anger, which had been stirred up earlier, instantly turned into admiration for Su Jinxin.
"Miss Su is truly a remarkable woman, her wisdom and courage are admirable!"
When Boss Qian and Cui'er realized their scheme had been exposed, they turned ashen-faced and trembled with fear. Scholar Wang was overwhelmed with shame, wishing he could disappear into the ground.
"Mr. Qian, do you have anything else to say?" Su Jinxin stared sharply at Mr. Qian, her tone icy.
Mr. Qian's face turned ashen. He knew that all was lost and could only kneel on the ground in despair, admitting his crimes.
With the truth revealed, Su Jinxin's business reputation not only recovered, but also rose to new heights because of her wisdom and courage, earning her widespread praise.
The Su family's shops are doing even better than before.
In the crowd, Yan Chengan looked at the radiant Su Jinxin, his eyes filled with pride and love.
He strode up to Su Jinxin, and amidst the astonished gazes of the crowd, he picked her up and spun her around.
"Jin Xin, you're amazing!" Yan Cheng'an whispered in her ear.
Su Jinxin was startled by his sudden action, but then a happy smile appeared on her face.
Their love became even stronger at this moment, and everyone around them cheered for them.
"I've said it before, my wife is the most amazing!" Yan Cheng'an put Su Jinxin down, held her hand tightly, and looked at her tenderly.
Su Jinxin returned a sweet smile, her heart filled with happiness and emotion.
“Next, we have something more important to do…” Yan Chengan whispered in her ear, a mysterious smile playing on his lips.
Boss Qian and Cui'er were taken to the authorities, and Scholar Wang was also punished for spreading rumors by copying the classics a thousand times as a warning to others.
After this incident, the Su family's business not only remained unaffected, but flourished even more.
The people admired Su Jinxin's wisdom and courage and came to visit her shop to show their support.
Taking advantage of the momentum, Su Jinxin launched several new products, which attracted a rush of customers. In no time, Su's shop was bustling with activity and making a fortune every day.
Yan Cheng'an felt a surge of pride watching his wife's success in the business world.
He no longer concealed his talent and began to assist Su Jinxin in managing the business. The couple worked together perfectly, propelling the Su family business to new heights.
In the stillness of the night, the two fell asleep in each other's arms. Yan Cheng'an gently stroked Su Jinxin's hair and said softly, "Jinxin, you are my lucky star." Su Jinxin smiled and nestled in his arms, feeling this hard-won happiness.
A few days later, Su Jinxin was having breakfast when a maid rushed in to report: "Madam, something terrible has happened! New rumors are starting to circulate in the city!" Su Jinxin and Yan Chengan exchanged a glance, both startled.
"What rumors?" Yan Chengan asked in a deep voice.
The maidservant answered tremblingly, "Tell...tell..."
