Chapter 270 Epilogue (2)
Jiang Mian looked through the car window and saw the man in the driver's seat, the back of the seat reclined a little.
He was leaning back in his chair, his eyes closed, looking as if he were fast asleep.
Jiang Mian reached out and gently knocked on the car window. When the knocking sound was heard, Lu Bozhou quickly opened his eyes.
His gaze almost instantly fell upon Jiang Mian, who was standing next to the car.
His previously cold eyes suddenly warmed up.
The car window was rolled down.
"Why are you here?" Lu Bozhou asked with a smile in his eyes.
Jiang Mian sighed, "Shouldn't I be asking you that? What time did you arrive so early in the morning? My dad goes for his morning exercise early, and he said he saw you here around that time."
"I miss you," Lu Bozhou said softly. "You said you wanted to celebrate my birthday, and I couldn't close my eyes all night."
Jiang Mian: "...I shouldn't have told you."
"Since I couldn't sleep anyway, I just drove here," Lu Bozhou said.
"Would you like me to take you home to rest?" Jiang Mian looked at his face, which seemed alright, and he didn't look too tired.
So Jiang Mian added, "Shall we go get some breakfast?"
Lu Bozhou asked, "With you?"
Jiang Mian nodded. "Otherwise what?"
Lu Bozhou asked again, "Only with you?"
Jiang Mian paused for a moment, then smiled, her eyes crinkling, "Who else would you like to look for so early in the morning?"
"I won't look for anyone. I'm afraid you'll bring Lu Chaochi along." Lu Bozhou opened the car door and got out, then opened the passenger door for her.
Jiang Mian laughed, "That's your own son."
"Today I am the birthday boy," Lu Bozhou said.
Upon hearing this, Jiang Mian didn't sit in the passenger seat anymore, but instead pushed him into it, saying, "Yes, birthday boy, get in the car."
It was clear that Lu Bozhou was in a good mood and had a good appetite. He had Cantonese dim sum for breakfast, with a table full of exquisite dim sum and steamed dishes.
He ate quite a lot, and two small steamers were piled up on the table.
After breakfast, Jiang Mian drove him back to rest, but Lu Bozhou was still a little reluctant.
"I'm not sleepy, really."
“No, you’re sleepy,” Jiang Mian said, looking at him.
Hearing her words, Lu Bozhou opened his mouth but couldn't refute them. He lowered his eyes, a slight smile playing on his lips, and his voice, filled with helplessness and compromise, sounded very obedient. "Okay, then I'm sleepy."
Jiang Mian drove him home to rest, saying, "You should rest. I'll come pick you up later."
"Pick me up?" Lu Bozhou looked at her.
Jiang Mian smiled, "Okay, I'm picking you up to celebrate your birthday. I've driven off. You get some rest."
Lu Bozhou watched her drive away before returning to his room. He could have easily asked Song Xun to find out what she was doing.
But after thinking about it, I did nothing.
'You need to control your controlling nature.'
Lu Bozhou recalled what his psychologist had told him.
I didn't think I would be sleepy, but I was surprised to find that I actually felt sleepy after sitting on the sofa for a while, and ended up sleeping on the sofa for a long time.
In her dream, Lu Bozhou seemed to have returned to the past, to the time when she was still alive.
In his dream, Lu Bozhou saw her waiting alone in an empty room.
She saw the cold food on the table when she used to come home, and the birthday cake she made herself in the refrigerator.
It wasn't just the food she cooked that went cold, but also her unfulfilled wait.
So much so that even in his dreams, Lu Bozhou felt a sharp pain in his heart.
He knows he was wrong, he already... knows he was wrong.
Even though he was heartbroken in his dreams, Lu Bozhou still didn't wake up. It was as if seeing the home where she used to live was still a beautiful dream for him, even if it hurt.
He was awakened by a gentle hand that patted his face lightly.
"Bozhou, Bozhou..."
Lu Bozhou heard her voice calling his name in his dream, and when he woke up, he thought he was still dreaming.
His thin lips moved slightly, and he murmured, "Wife..."
Jiang Mian's hand movements only paused slightly.
A moment later, Lu Bozhou realized what was happening.
He sat up. "When did you arrive?"
“Just now,” Jiang Mian said.
She called him but no one answered. Thinking about his past dangerous actions, Jiang Mian was still worried, so she came in to check on him.
He hadn't changed the password to the door lock, and she hadn't deleted her fingerprints from the lock either.
When I came in, I saw him sleeping soundly on the sofa.
Jiang Mian originally didn't plan to wake him up; it wouldn't hurt to let him rest more.
Until I saw his expression, I realized he seemed to be in some pain.
She then woke him up.
"Are you alright?" Jiang Mian asked.
Lu Bozhou didn't speak, and Jiang Mian thought he wouldn't answer. But then she heard Lu Bozhou sigh softly, "I dreamt about the past, about how you used to prepare birthday wishes for me, and how I... wasn't good to you back then."
Jiang Mian raised an eyebrow upon hearing this, "It is indeed quite bad."
“Things will get better from now on,” Lu Bozhou said.
Before Jiang Mian could react, he pulled her into his arms.
There were no excessive movements, just a hug, as if to soothe the discomfort brought on by the dream.
After a moment, Jiang Mian moved slightly and said, "Alright, let's go."
Upon hearing her words, Lu Bozhou suddenly remembered why she had come to pick him up.
Suddenly, I felt a sense of anticipation.
Jiang Mian drove him out, and Lu Bozhou looked at the route...it seemed somewhat familiar.
"Has Lu Chaochi arrived yet? Or should we go pick him up now?" Lu Bozhou asked.
Jiang Mian shook her head. "He's not going."
"Not going?" Lu Bozhou glanced at her sideways.
"Hmm." Jiang Mian stopped the car at the red light, glanced at Lu Bozhou and met his puzzled look, but did not intend to explain anything.
Lu Bozhou also recognized the route; it was indeed leading to her studio.
Although he didn't know what was there, it was enough to make his heart race.
Before long, the car stopped in the parking space in front of Jiang Mian's art studio.
It was past opening hours, and there was no one else in the studio. The air was still filled with the rich scent of red roses.
As you walk in, the dim light comes from the electronic candles on both sides of the floor, guiding you in the right direction.
Upon entering, a dining table stood there, looking very familiar.
It was probably because he had just dreamt about the past that the scene before him was now overlapping with the past he had just seen in his dream.
It gives you the illusion of being transported back to a few years ago in an instant.
Even the dishes on the table were exactly the same as those dishes that had gone cold and lost their original color when I first saw them on the table.
Just like those feelings he had once betrayed.
Now, they are displayed on the table, looking and smelling delicious, waiting for him to taste them.
It's as if it's telling him, "Don't let this opportunity slip away, don't miss it again."
"Moor the boat and sit down."
