Chapter 265 There's Still a Lifetime to Waste

That night, they didn't go back, and the boat didn't even dock.

Lu Chaochi fished all afternoon and had a small catch, but not much, so he wasn't satisfied.

She wasn't a willful child to begin with, but even the most well-behaved child in the eyes of outsiders can be spoiled in front of their loving parents.

So I didn't want to get off the ship.

She first asked Lu Bozhou in a low voice, "Can we go back a little later? I want to go fishing some more."

Lu Bozhou glanced at Jiang Mian, then whispered to Lu Chaochi, "You should ask Mianmian's opinion. I'll listen to her."

Lu Chaochi, carrying his little bucket, walked towards Jiang Mian with a pattering sound.

"Not going back?" Jiang Mian was stunned by the child's words and couldn't help but look up at Lu Bozhou.

Lu Chaochi nodded obediently, "I also want to go fishing, Mianmian. I heard them say that you can catch squid at night by just turning on a light."

“Dad said he’ll listen to you.” Lu Chaochi thought for a moment, then added softly, looking intently at her, “Is that okay?”

Jiang Mian could only look up at Lu Bozhou again.

The man was clearly also watching them, perhaps feeling a little guilty for encouraging the child to come over.

Noticing Jiang Mian's gaze, he looked away, his calm eyes fixed on the boundless sea.

Jiang Mian pursed her lips for a moment, then said in a low voice, "Come here."

Lu Bozhou didn't say anything, but he obediently walked closer to her.

He walked up to Jiang Mian and coughed lightly. "What's wrong?"

"Can't we just leave this boat?" Jiang Mian had never been on a yacht before, so she didn't know.

Lu Bozhou nodded. "The ship has everything, so staying overnight shouldn't be a big problem."

After saying that, he paused, as if noticing Jiang Mian's expression, and added, "If you don't want to, you can turn back."

Jiang Mian glanced at him and said, "You sent Xiao Shitou over to discuss this with me because you were sure I wouldn't disagree."

Lu Bozhou remained silent.

Jiang Mian turned to look at Lu Chaochi, "Then let's stay on the boat tonight. Since we're already here, let you fish to your heart's content."

The child was genuinely happy, and immediately hugged Jiang Mian's neck, exclaiming, "Mom is the best!"

Jiang Mian smiled and hugged Lu Chaochi.

Lu Chaochi smiled, then his gaze shifted and caught the image on Jiang Mian's tablet. "Hmm? What are you drawing?"

Jiang Mian didn't say anything, but simply exited the screen. "It's nothing, just some random drawing."

She ruffled Lu Chaochi's hair. "Alright, let's go fishing. I hope we can have some of your catch for dinner tonight."

Lu Bozhou's gaze fell on Jiang Mian's tablet computer, whose screen had been turned off, and he seemed to be deep in thought.

At dinner, Lu Chaochi caught too few and too small fish, so the captain said to just let it go and release them back into the sea.

Jiang Mian originally thought that Lu Chaochi would be unhappy about this, but the child happily went to the bow of the boat and released the fish back into the water.

With a smile on her face, she said, "I also think they are still babies, and it's already pitiful that they were caught."

The ship had already prepared the ingredients in advance, all of which were fresh seafood.

They even set up a barbecue grill. Lu Bozhou put on a denim apron, stood behind the grill, and carefully grilled the seafood with barbecue tongs.

The fresh shellfish, after being roasted on the stove for a while, opened their mouths, revealing their delicious and tender insides.

Lu Bozhou picked up a tender clam with his chopsticks, blowing on it as he walked, and fed it directly to Jiang Mian when he reached her.

Jiang Mian was slightly taken aback; the moment her teeth touched, a fresh and sweet taste burst forth on her tongue.

"Is it hot?" Lu Bozhou asked.

Jiang Mian shook her head.

"Is it good?" Lu Bozhou asked again.

Jiang Mian nodded.

A look of pleasure spread across the man's eyes, as if simply saying that his grilled food was delicious was enough to make him happy.

Perhaps because her heart had already softened, Jiang Mian felt a little reluctant when she saw that look in his eyes again.

After a few seconds of silence, she licked her lips. "More."

Lu Bozhou paused briefly for two seconds, then immediately nodded, "I'll go grill some more for you."

Before long, he brought over another plate of various grilled shellfish and shrimp, as well as a sea urchin.

But Lu Bozhou frowned as he looked at the sea urchin. "I'm not sure if it's edible after being grilled like this."

He was still a little worried, feeling that it might not be fully cooked, and planned to take it back and reprocess it.

But Jiang Mian gently tugged at the hem of her clothes; it was a very small force, barely noticeable.

And to be precise, it wasn't the hem of the shirt that was being grabbed, but rather the edge of the denim apron.

Even the slightest force was enough to bring Lu Bozhou to an instant.

He turned to look at Jiang Mian, his gaze calm and earnest.

"Stop fussing." Jiang Mian gently bit the tip of her fork and tilted her head slightly toward the seat next to her. "Sit down."

Lu Bozhou immediately sat down. "What's wrong?"

Jiang Mian then raised her chin and looked ahead, "Sunset."

Lu Bozhou followed her gaze and saw a red sun slowly setting in the distance where the sea and sky met.

Until it finally made contact with the water, reflecting a shimmering expanse on the calm sea.

Then slowly sink, sink.

The sky was dyed as brilliantly as if it had been burned by fire.

That was the most beautiful sunset Jiang Mian had ever seen.

Perhaps because the natural beauty was so breathtaking, neither of them spoke.

Until the red sun finally disappeared below the horizon, leaving only the scorched sky gradually being slowly tinged with the dark blue of night.

“We don’t think we’ve ever seen such a beautiful sunset,” Jiang Mian said.

A look of pain flashed across Lu Bozhou's eyes.

It wasn't just this sunset; there were so many more things they could have done together after they got together, things they never did.

Thinking about it carefully, their marriage, whether in their past life or in this life, was filled with many things they couldn't do, many things they couldn't say, and many... regrets.

It seems we've never experienced the things that lovers should truly do together, or the beauty they should feel.

Their past seems to be dominated by pain; even if there was happiness, it couldn't show its original brilliance against such a vast and heavy backdrop of suffering.

They were entangled for two lifetimes, yet they never even saw a beautiful sunset together. It's truly pathetic when you think about it.

“I will go with you in the future to do the things we didn’t have time to do before,” Lu Bozhou said.

He has plenty of time; he has the rest of his life to spend with her.

Jiang Mian grabbed his hand, and the cool, soft touch of her fingertips made Lu Bozhou pause in surprise.

He saw Jiang Mian take his hand, and then her slightly cool index fingertip gently made a hook in his palm.
