Chapter 215 Heart of Stone
"What could he possibly want to do? He just wants to die with the Lu family." Gong Yan sat on Jiang Yu's bed, wearing a thin-strapped silk nightgown, her slightly curled hair slipping down her shoulders.
Her fair skin appeared even more delicate and smooth against the gray-blue sheets.
She wore a pair of thin gold-rimmed glasses with a chain on her nose, and was looking down at the documents on her tablet.
Jiang Yu came out of the bathroom, saw her like this, leaned down and bit her shoulder.
His lips traced a path down her slender, white neck, his voice finally settling in her ear, seductive, as he whispered, "One more time?"
Gong Yan raised an eyebrow. "I think it's a good idea."
Then she smiled, tossed aside the tablet, raised her hand to hug Jiang Yu's neck, and tilted her head back to kiss him.
When the passion subsided and the two finished showering, it was already an hour later.
Gong Yan was a little sleepy. She was held in Jiang Yu's arms and nestled against his chest, her eyelids drooping slightly.
"Is this what he told you back then? That he planned to perish together with the Lu family?" Jiang Yu asked.
Gong Yan's voice was tinged with sleepiness and had a slight nasal tone, sounding like she was pleading, "What, didn't he tell you?"
It was Jiang Yu who met with Lu Bozhou first before telling her that Lu Bozhou wanted to meet with her.
Jiang Yu sounded unhappy. "He...didn't talk to me much."
Hearing this, Gong Yan understood, "They treat you like a child."
Jiang Yu gritted his teeth, but had to admit it. Perhaps because his sister had always treated him like a child, Lu Bozhou had simply followed suit.
In the five years since his sister passed away, Jiang Yu has become quite emotional whenever he sees Lu Bozhou, and his behavior is not like that of an adult.
Jiang Yu clicked his tongue and nudged Gong Yan, "You treat me like a child too?"
Gong Yan pursed her lips, the lingering blush on her cheeks gathering again. She raised her eyes and glared at Jiang Yu, "You're pointing at me like this, how can I still treat you like a child?"
Jiang Yu was satisfied and smiled, his eyes crinkling. "Then tell me."
"The reason he told me but didn't tell you is probably not just because he treats you like a child. It's also because he knows I'm more ruthless than you."
Gong Yan's voice was very calm, "I should indeed be a bit more ruthless, so when he gave me the will, I accepted it without much thought, and I basically guessed what he was planning to do."
Jiang Yu paused, "...A will?"
Gong Yan nodded. "I don't think a person in their prime would make a will without a reason, unless they feel that they might be in danger."
Jiang Yu frowned. "You think..."
“I don’t think so.” Gong Yan interrupted Jiang Yu without hesitation. “I don’t think anything, and you’d better not think anything either. Especially, don’t let Jiang Mian know.”
Although Jiang Yu didn't say anything, there was something else in his eyes.
After a moment, he hesitated before saying, "Is he really in any danger?"
Gong Yan glanced at him. "What if it really is?"
“Little Stone is still small…” Jiang Yu’s voice became softer.
Gong Yan laughed in exasperation, "You really are Jiang Mian's younger brother."
Jiang Yu curled his lip, "A genuine younger brother."
“The siblings are both so soft-hearted.” Gong Yan pinched Jiang Yu’s chin, squinted at him, and looked at him with a very intimidating posture.
“Jiang Mian lost her life because she was too soft-hearted.” Gong Yan looked at him intently. “Don’t follow her example.”
“I didn’t learn from her, and I’m not that soft-hearted.” Jiang Yu glanced at her, his eyes like those of a wronged dog. “But don’t be so heartless, it scares me.”
Gong Yan really had no way to deal with these two siblings. "I must have owed you two something in my past life."
Jiang Yu rubbed his hands together, his expression one of utter innocence and obedience.
Gong Yan said helplessly, "Lu Bozhou isn't stupid, and he doesn't want to die that much. He certainly wouldn't be completely unprepared or without any preparation."
"If it really comes to the point where he can't solve it, let alone whether we want to help him or whether we can solve it, that's still a question."
"So all I can do is keep the things he gave me safe, as he originally instructed, and keep Mianmian and her child away from danger."
Gong Yan looked at Jiang Yu and said, "If we can really help in any way we can, then it's not too late to say we want to help."
She asked Jiang Yu, "Have I made myself clear enough?"
Jiang Yu nodded. "I understand."
Gong Yan asked again, "Still heartless?"
Jiang Yu obediently shook his head, "He's been incredibly tender towards me and Jiang Mian."
"Get lost," Gong Yan muttered irritably. "I'm sleepy, go to sleep!"
Jiang Yu snuggled up to Gong Yan like a big dog, pulled her into his arms, and closed his eyes as well.
A few days later, Gong Yan came to Jiangcheng on official business.
Jiang Mian drove to the airport to pick her up.
"A new car?" Gong Yan didn't get in the car immediately, but instead walked around it as if she were inspecting it.
“Yes, I just mentioned it.” Jiang Mian nodded.
"Where's your driver's license?"
"I passed!" Jiang Mian took out a small black notebook and showed it to you. "Don't worry, I won't drive without a license and add to your workload."
Gong Yan smiled and got into the car. She didn't care whether the car was good or bad, but she still felt that Jiang Mian should drive a better car.
"Why didn't you buy a better one?" Gong Yan frowned, then felt a little annoyed. She raised her hand and pinched the bridge of her nose. "I should have asked for your Panamera back then. Anyway, Lu Bozhou doesn't need your car, it's just sitting idle."
Jiang Mian laughed, "This is my new car, after all. I carefully selected it before buying it. Can you please not be so obviously disgusted?"
"I just hope you can eat better, play better, and have more fun." Gong Yan said this in a very casual and nonchalant tone.
Her words, however, were deeply moving. It was as if, in her eyes, Jiang Mian deserved everything.
Jiang Mian felt a warmth in her heart. "This is great. My parents are also in Jiangcheng. When we need to go out, this kind of seven-seater minivan is perfect for family trips."
Gong Yan thought for a moment, "That makes sense."
"Don't stay in a hotel, just stay at my place," Jiang Mian said.
Gong Yan considered for a moment, "Is it convenient?"
Although she had a good relationship with Jiang Mian, she was still a little uncomfortable meeting Jiang Mian's parents or even living under the same roof.
I might have felt a little uncomfortable before.
Now he feels even more uncomfortable, and one of the reasons for this discomfort is probably... because he slept with their son and doesn't seem to have any intention of taking responsibility for it yet.
This was caused by the guilt that arose in my heart.
“What’s inconvenient about it? They’ve known you for years…” Jiang Mian said.
"Alright," Gong Yan replied verbally, but in her heart she thought, "But they don't know I slept with their son."
