Chapter 17 Why did I need to find Jiang Mian's stand-in?

"It's nothing." Jiang Mian gently shook her head and looked away.

The young man who just brushed past me looked to be in his early twenties, tall and slender.

It had a face that Jiang Mian was very familiar with.

He was wearing a charcoal gray shirt and slim-fit trousers, without a tie, and the top two buttons of his shirt were undone.

Not too formal, but with a touch of unruliness.

Even so, this was a look that Jiang Mian had rarely seen before.

After all, in Jiang Mian's memory, he was still a boy who wore T-shirts, shorts and sneakers all the time, as if he would never grow up.

In the blink of an eye, he had grown into an adult.

Jiang Feng noticed her earlier look. "You know her?"

Jiang Mian shook her head, "I don't know him."

Of course I do.

She watched him grow up from a young age, and when he was a toddler, she held his hand and walked with him step by step.

Even on their wedding day, he carried her out of the car, carefully making sure her dress didn't drag on the ground. He whispered to her: "Don't try to tough it out, if you're feeling down, just go home."

Her younger brother—Jiang Yu.

At first, she hadn't realized why she had run into Jiang Yu here.

But then I thought about it again, and it made sense. This was Los Angeles' CBD, and the Jiang family's company was nearby.

Moreover, what seems like a blink of an eye for Jiang Mian is actually five years.

He is no longer the boy who seemed to never grow up.

"You are..." Jiang Feng looked at Jiang Mian suspiciously.

Jiang Mian thought to herself, "Impossible, right? How could this kid be so clever and see through anything?"

The next second, Jiang Feng teased, "Jiang Mian, you wouldn't happen to be attracted to his good looks..."

Jiang Mian reached out and pinched his arm, making him wince.

The siblings drifted further and further apart.

What they didn't notice was the young man who had brushed past them earlier.

After walking a short distance, he inexplicably stopped, frowned, and looked back.

After not hearing his voice for a while on the other end of the phone, someone asked, "Xiao Yu, what's wrong?"

Jiang Yu: "It's nothing, I just..."

I think I heard someone call my sister's name.

Jiang Yu changed the subject, "I'm almost at Dingsheng."

A helpless laugh came from the other end. "It's been years, and you're still making a fuss..."

Jiang Yu snorted coldly, "Why not? Don't talk about a few years, even decades, as long as I, Jiang Yu, am alive!"

His voice grew colder and angrier.

"He has it so easy. He just lost a substitute wife. He can just find another one. But what about my sister? My sister suffered so much. She died in agony! She was my own sister. Once she's gone, she's gone forever!"

……

After finishing his meal, Jiang Feng returned to school.

Jiang Mian changed into her work clothes and prepared to start work. Although it was only three or four o'clock in the afternoon, not lunchtime, there weren't many orders.

However, many white-collar workers also need afternoon tea and coffee to boost their energy.

Delivering food in this area is actually easier than in the previous one, at least the office buildings all have elevators.

After delivering orders to several companies, Jiang Mian looked at this last one.

She blinked and clearly saw the address on it—Dingsheng Group.

Having chosen this area, it's impossible to avoid Dingsheng Group.

However, the floors she delivered to before were different from this one.

Jiang Mian looked at this order—the nineteenth floor of Dingsheng.

The headquarters of Dingsheng Group is a 20-story building.

The other floors house Dingsheng's various departments. However, the 19th and 20th floors contain the secretariat, the president's office, and high-level conference rooms.

Although it was definitely not Lu Bozhou who ordered the takeout, Jiang Mian didn't want to cause any trouble and make the man think she had ulterior motives.

Jiang Mian secretly hoped that the order could be left at the front desk on the first floor so she wouldn't have to deliver it herself.

After all, that's the nineteenth floor, right?

who knew...

"The secretary's office has already informed us, so you can just go up directly. The elevator is over there. Thank you for your help," the receptionist said with a gentle smile.

Jiang Mian: "...Okay."

...The people in your secretariat are quite nice.

Jiang Mian adjusted her helmet, lowered her head, and went upstairs.

Actually, it went quite smoothly; the elevator reached the nineteenth floor.

I left the items at the reception desk on the 19th floor. Since it was a custom-made cake order, I needed to sign for it to avoid any disputes later.

"I didn't order this. Please wait a moment while I have someone come out to sign for it."

Jiang Mian stood aside and waited.

This angle provides a perfect view of a corner of the reception room not far away.

There was a person sitting there, their body completely hidden by the back of the sofa chair, only the back of their head was visible.

For some reason, Jiang Mian couldn't help but take a second look at the back of that head.

Soon, a secretary came out of the secretariat, inspected the cake, and then signed the document.

"Thanks for your hard work."

"You're welcome." Jiang Mian took the signed receipt and prepared to leave.

Then I saw a tall, imposing figure walking towards us from the conference room corridor.

She'd recognize him even if he were ashes. Who else could it be but Lu Bozhou?

This is too unlucky! Jiang Mian's heart skipped a beat, and she quickly lowered her head, only thinking about sneaking away quietly without attracting any attention.

But Jiang Mian was clearly overthinking it.

Before Lu Bozhou could walk over, the back of Yu Guangli's head in the reception room suddenly moved!

He stood up and rushed towards Lu Bozhou!

Jiang Mian finally understood why that back of the head looked familiar!

How could he not look familiar?! That's Jiang Yu!

Jiang Yu was incredibly fast! He leaped up from the sofa in the reception room and darted towards Lu Bozhou!

The whole process felt like it only took a few seconds, and they were already in front of Lu Bozhou.

Without saying a word, Jiang Yu threw a punch at Lu Bozhou!

Jiang Mian was stunned. What amazing skill!

Lu Bozhou's handsome face remained indifferent, and he simply turned his head slightly to avoid the punch and then reached out to restrain Jiang Yu's fist.

Impressive skills! Jiang Mian knew that the descendants of the Lu family would learn some martial arts skills from a young age.

But I didn't expect that Jiang Yu would have such good skills.

Jiang Yu reacted quickly, grabbing Lu Bozhou's hand and restraining him, leaving him no way to escape.

Then he threw another punch with his other hand, this time landing directly on Lu Bozhou's abdomen.

Lu Bozhou showed no pain, only a slight furrow in his brow. "Is that enough?"

Song Xun quickly pulled Jiang Yu away, his voice full of helplessness, "Young Master Jiang, why are you here again..."

“I was going that way anyway.” Jiang Yu shook off Song Xun, straightened his collar, and said, “I’m coming up.”

Jiang Yu stared at Lu Bozhou with a dark expression. "I've seen the rumors about you and Lin Sisi. You're looking for a stand-in for my sister? Lu Bozhou, how disgusting are you? Jiang Mian is dead. Even if she were alive, she would leave you!"

These words probably offended Lu Bozhou.

His usually expressionless, indifferent face changed.

A smile suddenly appeared on his face, his perfectly shaped lips curving into a slightly mocking arc.

"Jiang Yu, aren't you overthinking this? Why would I need a stand-in for Jiang Mian?"
