Chapter 66 Trinity and Toaster Kiss in the Tree
“Trinity?” asked Sienna, the best sister.
She tilted her head. "Trinity," one of the heads repeated. It was a very nice name. Best sister Sienna was very good at choosing beautiful names.
“She can’t be called that name,” said Athena, the slightly less capable but still quite good older sister.
“Yeah,” responded the scary older sister, Teddy, “that name sounds cool.”
“I can be cool,” she replied with two mouths, while a third mouth was busy picking her nose.
Best Sister Sienna nodded. "If Trinity wants to be cool, she can be cool."
Trinity nodded all her heads, then leaped forward to hug her best sister Sienna, but her scary sister Teddy smacked her on the head, knocking her to the ground.
“Teddy!” said the best sister, “Don’t be so harsh.”
Trinity looked at Teddy with all four eyes, pouting and crossing her arms, monopolizing all the hugs. She got three times more hugs than we did.
Sienna, the best older sister, shook her head. "That's not how it is, Teddy. Please be friendly. The last thing I want to see is sisters not getting along."
Trinity nodded all her heads.
It's wrong to bully others, especially when you're the one being bullied.
Hugs are wonderful, especially when you receive one. Life is that simple, just like her.
Sienna, the best older sister, stood up, glanced at the alarm clock by the bed, and nodded. "Okay, I have class in a bit, I have to go."
I won't appoint anyone to be in charge or anything like that. I just hope you all behave well, okay?
The three sisters (five heads in total) all nodded.
Sienna went over and gave each of them a hug and patted them on the back.
However, she gave Trinity twice as many hugs as she gave everyone else, which was quite thoughtful.
Trinity's body followed behind Best Sister. She genuinely hoped Best Sister would need her help so she could repay those hugs with kindness.
Her other body swayed off to the bathroom. She hadn't had a proper look around their home yet, while her other body stayed with her sisters, smiling absentmindedly as she stroked her tail and smoothed her long fur.
Soon, the best sister slung her backpack over her shoulder and headed out.
Trinity was certain that she didn't realize she was following behind until her sister reached the elevator.
Trinity waved to Best Sister, but Best Sister simply leaned her head against the elevator wall and pressed a button.
A short while later, that body was left all alone in the corridor.
“Hey,” Teddy asked, “what exactly are you?”
“Me?” Trinity countered. The one with the other sisters focused her attention slightly. “Yes, I’m a raccoon girl.”
“A raccoon is a type of bear, right?” Teddy asked.
"Maybe?" Trinity's voice drowned out the sound of the toilet flushing. It was quite interesting to watch the water swirl around.
“You have three bodies, right?” Athena asked. “Does that mean you have to eat three times the amount of food?”
“I think so,” Trinity said. “I do have three stomachs. But I’m very good at finding food and things like that.”
She was in the bathroom, her head under the tap, when water rushed into her nose, and she started coughing and choking.
She glanced around in the hallway, then shrugged and walked towards a door marked with a staircase sign. The door led to the staircase.
She wasn't too surprised by this. She started walking down, embarking on her journey in search of fun and food.
"Do you like sleeping?" Teddy asked.
Trinity nodded. “I like sleeping with other people,” she said. “It’s warm and safe, and it feels great.”
Teddy frowned, then shrugged. "Okay, fine. But we have to split the blanket equally, you know?"
"Are we really going to go back to sleep?" Athena asked.
"Don't you have something better to do?" Teddy asked her back.
Athena pouted, "No, but still..."
Teddy snorted, stomped his feet, went back to bed, scurried under the blanket, and then poked his head out from the top of the blanket, fluffing up Sienna's pillow.
Athena crawled over Teddy and lay down on her other side.
Trinity grinned and jumped up, pounced on the two of them.
She coughed for a while, almost submerged in the bathroom, then turned off the tap and stumbled into the bedroom, joining the gradually forming huddled group on the bed.
She wondered how many bodies it would take to form a proper huddled pile. She guessed at least three.
However, one person alone cannot form an interesting cuddly pile, so four are needed, which is the minimum number.
She was clattering down the stairs when she finally reached the bottom, where she encountered another door.
Upon opening the door, you are greeted by the lobby on the first floor, with the elevator right next to it. The door leading outside is at the end of a small corridor.
She wouldn't go outside to wander around so soon. First, she'd look around the building to see if there was anything to eat or anything fun to do.
She sniffed a few times, smelling the air, and then locked onto something that smelled particularly fragrant.
Trinity grinned and skipped toward a large room next to the corridor.
It was a small kitchen. There was a refrigerator and a table with some shiny things on it.
A boy was yawning, his eyes fixed on one of the shiny objects.
He held a butter knife in one hand and a jar of brown stuff in the other.
Trinity walked toward him because the pleasant smell was coming from there.
The boy blinked, looked down at her for a while, and said, "Uh," his eyes looked sleepy and swollen, as if he himself should take a nap.
“Hey,” Trinity said, “something here smells really good.”
"They're...making toast."
Trinity became interested and kept staring at it.
Suddenly, with a "bang," she was startled and stared at the shiny object in front of the boy.
That thing was shiny and dazzling, with buttons and knobs on the front, and two golden slices of bread popped out from the top.
The taste was absolutely irresistible.
The boy looked at her for a while, then pulled over a plate, put bread on it, and started spreading peanut butter on it.
Trinity stared intently the whole time. "Um, do you... have ears?" he asked, pointing to her head.
“Yes, I’m a raccoon girl,” she said, trying to open her eyes wide. “Can I have a piece?” she asked, wagging her tail.
"So... are you just playing a role-playing game, or are you a superpowered person?"
"I have amazing superpowers, that's right."
The boy nodded, but ultimately succumbed to her longing gaze and gave her a piece of toast, muttering, "I'm too hungover to handle this."
He walked away, but Trinity didn't care. She got the toast, and it tasted just as delicious as she had imagined from the aroma.
After licking her fingers clean, she looked up at the toast-making machine.
There's a small label on the front of the machine that reads "Mothman House Toaster." If this place is called that, then this thing is definitely a toaster.
It's so beautiful.
There's a bag of sliced bread next to the toaster, and that big jar of peanut butter is still on the counter.
She successfully found the food!
Trinity stood on tiptoe, pulled the toaster over, and then tugged at the power cord at the back.
She hugged the toaster tightly, enjoying the residual warmth emanating from it and the smell of burnt breadcrumbs.
Just to be safe, she put the toaster back on the counter, then put the peanut butter in the pocket of her hoodie, put the bag of bread on top of the toaster, and then picked everything up.
As she walked toward the elevator, she ran into the boy again.
"Uh, where are you going to take these?" he asked.
“Take it to the pile of hugs,” she said.
Operating the elevator is a bit tricky.
She didn't know which floor her room was on, so she went up floor by floor, checking each floor until she recognized their floor.
Fortunately, there were posters and signs everywhere on the doors and walls, which made it easier to identify the floors.
Once she found the right floor, she skipped and hopped toward the door to her room, but it was locked.
She got up from the pile of cuddles, walked to the door, and opened it.
"What's that?" Teddy muttered.
“It’s a toaster,” she said as she walked over and placed it on the table. “It makes delicious toast.”
"Ha," Teddy responded.
Before long, Teddy and Athena were watching Trinity's two bodies fiddling with the toaster, putting bread in and staring at it until the toast popped out.
This toaster can toast four slices at a time, one less than the number of sisters in the room, which is almost perfect.
A few hours later, Sienna, the best sister, returned. The first thing she did was stop at the door and sniff the air. "What's that smell?"
Then she saw the toaster, empty bread bags, empty peanut butter jars, and all her sisters piled up on the bed with round bellies, forming a cozy cuddly pile.
"What the hell is going on?"
