The socially awkward villain's furry superpower
Chapter 172 Skill Check
Sam was in charge of bringing the cash back to their hideout. He threw the bag on the kitchen table and then dumped it out.
Well, it wasn't a huge amount of money, but there was still a mess of banknotes scattered on the table. "Wow," Sienna said.
"Not bad, right?" Sam asked with a sly smile. "But... this is the amount before expenses are deducted. The stuff isn't free, and remember, we only take a cut."
Although their commission is substantial, we do have to give some back.
“That’s right,” Sienna said. It was all for the sake of completing a mission. Or rather, several missions. That reminded her of something.
Sienna turned to her sisters, who were crowded in the doorway between the kitchen and the dining room. "Has anyone finished the task?" she asked.
“I did it!” Trinity cheered. “I stole so much stuff!” Then she picked up a garbage bag and dumped its contents onto the table.
Most of the items were wallets, small handbags, a few crumpled banknotes, some keys, and half a subway sandwich wrapped in waxed paper.
Trinity gasped, snatched the sandwich, and one of her clones ran off with it.
Sienna decided to ignore it.
“Well… six wallets, two handbags.” Sam said, scrambling his arm across the table to sort the items. “Okay, I think we should count the money separately.”
Sienna nodded. "That makes sense. Let me think... Teddy, you have a mission to intimidate people, right?"
“That’s right,” Teddy replied, sounding quite proud of himself. “I scared a lot of people.”
Sienna couldn't recall anyone being frightened by Teddy, but there seemed to be an unusually large number of people asking for her autograph. Also, she transformed into a bear a few times, which Sienna guessed might have scared some people.
Regardless, Sienna was glad Teddy had completed her task. She looked at Athena and Maple Leaf. “Athena?” she asked.
Athena nodded. "I received a mission to steal someone else's secret. But I didn't tell you, is that alright?"
“It’s alright,” Sienna said. “But perhaps you could let me know next time?”
“Okay!” Athena said.
Finally, there was the maple leaf. "Ah, um, I earned some points for giving gifts to everyone," she said.
Sienna nodded in agreement. That made sense. So, as long as they made a decent amount of money through this little scam, Sienna herself would also earn some points.
So she started counting the money. Teddy quickly got bored of it, and Trinity followed her back to the living room.
Meanwhile, Maple Leaf and Athena were happy to help. They stacked banknotes of the same denomination together, forming small piles, and even emptied their collected wallets.
“What are we going to do with all these keys and wallets?” Sienna asked. The pile of stuff was a bit of a headache. There were cards, driver's licenses, and all sorts of other things inside, things that could be very important to the owner.
Sam grinned. "Well, how about we hand them over to the police?" he asked.
"Really? For example, submitting it anonymously?"
Sam shook his head. "I have a better idea. Just hand it in and say you bravely discovered a thief's hideout and found these things. That'll easily earn you some goodwill."
Sienna snorted. That was too mean, definitely the kind of villainous thing she wouldn't do. But... well, she did feel a little sorry for those who now had to reissue all their cards.
They even received a passport.
“Okay, we can do that. Next time I go out in my uniform, we’ll go to the police station and tell them there’s a nasty little thief stealing people’s wallets and any candy he can find.”
Once the money is sorted by denomination and piled up, counting the number of banknotes of each denomination is not difficult. Then, you only need to do some simple math calculations on your phone.
“Wow, just over four thousand in total,” Sienna said.
“Not bad,” Sam said. “Now, to avoid making things seem too suspicious, we’ll probably have to put up about a quarter of the money.”
“That makes sense,” Sienna said. “Then can we get three thousand?”
Sam waved his hand, making a "about" gesture. "About five hundred for expenses, then you have to pay your men's salaries."
As she spoke, she divided the pile of money, and Sienna noticed that each time she divided it, her share became smaller.
"So, you can get... well, just over two thousand yuan."
Sienna had nothing to complain about; it was a decent paycheck for a week's work. However, she wished she could earn more.
They divided the money into several envelopes, and Sam grinned as he left with a large sum of his winnings. "I'll get receipts from the Human Resources Foundation and the stores."
"I'll imply that the others got a bigger share, and I bet they'll believe me." Sam said and left.
Sienna strolled slowly to the sofa and plopped down. She was exhausted. It wasn't dinnertime yet, but she felt like she'd been running around all day.
"Are you alright?" Athena asked cautiously as she sat down next to Sienna. The others were currently engrossed in the cartoon on television.
"I'm fine." Sienna smiled slightly. "I'm just a little tired."
Athena nodded, then lay down on her side, her back pressed against Sienna's.
Maple Leaf noticed this naturally. She left very carefully and shyly, and when she came back, she took Sienna's pillow and gently placed it under her head.
Then Maple Leaf climbed up behind Sienna and wrapped an arm around her waist. Sienna didn't resist. It was actually quite comfortable.
However, she still felt a lingering unease, as if she hadn't done anything truly effective. So, for the first time in a long time, she whispered that magical word.
"state."

Her progress is not ideal at the moment. She only has two points to invest in any skill. Furthermore, she can only invest points in three skills.
She doesn't really like the "Be the Center of Attention" skill; she doesn't use "Animal Family" very often; and there's also "Sister Teleport."
This last skill might be worth investing points in. She imagined it might reduce skill cooldown time, and perhaps save her life someday.
However, what if something else happens later? She suspected that if she got into trouble and managed to get out, she might be able to gain a few more skill slots.
That means she has more options for using her limited points.
Out of curiosity, she also opened her sisters' status interfaces.
Name: Teddy Isabella

Teddy also has some skills that can be invested in. That's a good idea. Sienna remembered to tell her to do so. Idle points don't help anyone.
Then Sienna realized how hypocritical she had been, so she secretly put two points into the "Sister Teleport" skill.
[Sister Teleportation Level: 3]
[Allows you to teleport any sister from anywhere in the world to your side. Available immediately.]
Activation method: Voice command
[Cooling time: 3 hours]
[Maximum number of sisters to be teleported: 1]
Her cooldown time has been reduced from 12 hours to 3 hours. That makes her much easier to manage. Although it's still too long and not very tactically practical, it's getting closer and closer to being usable.
If investing a few points can halve the cooldown time... Hmm, with a few more points, this skill will be useful in battle.

“Wow, Athena, you have so many skill upgrade points!” Sienna said.
Athena nodded. "Yes."
“Don’t you want to use them?” Sienna asked.
"My skills are already pretty good. I don't think it's necessary to upgrade my existing skills. I'll use these points to make them super powerful once I have a truly amazing skill."
“Okay,” Sienna said, “but don’t be stingy with your upgrade points. There’s a reason we have them, right?”
“Okay,” Athena said.

Trinity had also accumulated some points. And she had a considerable number of skills. Somehow, Trinity had a knack for discovering new skills.

Then there's Maple Leaf. Her youngest sister, and the one who most needs to catch up. But... well, she's trying.
Sienna felt that things weren't so bad after all.
