The socially awkward villain's furry superpower

Chapter 143 is definitely the best outcome.

Aleya was startled when the warehouse door where he was hiding was opened, but his heart calmed down after hearing the sounds coming in. To be precise, it was the excited voices of six or seven girls.

"Then she said, 'How did you do that?' I replied, 'Because I'm the coolest bear in history.'"

"She didn't say that!"

"She said it!"

"I was there, you stupidest bear!"

"I was there too!"

"we know!"

Aleya wasn't sure if being rescued by these kids was the best outcome.

Now he has to endure these children showing their true colors around him again.

They were annoying enough on their own, but Sienna was alright. She was quiet and focused on creating those doomsday devices, which he could understand.

Alaya emerged from the shadows behind the tall stack of crates, then raised his hand to shield his face from the light shining on him by the girls.

"Hey."

Sienna—or rather, "the boss"—left him in this warehouse, which was only a block away from the one where he had been held captive before. However, this warehouse was mostly filled with crates and rows of dusty shelves, rather than a bunch of evil villains.

The lights dimmed, and he blinked to adjust his vision. Sienna took out her phone and turned on the flashlight, as did Charm Girl.

That said, all three Trinity turned on the flashlights on their phones.

It seemed no one intended to ask where the raccoon girl got so many smartphones, so he didn't bother to ask either.

The "boss" walked towards him and looked him up and down. Standing in front of her, being scrutinized like a piece of beef, he felt completely exposed.

There was no sympathy in her eyes. "Are you alright?" she asked.

“Uh, um, I’m fine,” he said. “A little shaken, but overall not too bad. How’s the situation with law enforcement?”

“Things went fairly smoothly. I think there’s clear enough evidence to suggest something’s wrong, so we won’t be suspected of anything,” Sienna said.

After scaring away the "spin-and-win" guy (who was a woman at the time? Aleya wasn't sure how it happened), they dragged him out of the van, and then the "boss" had her gang of bastards tie up the rest of the henchmen.

Then they went to get ice cream. On the way there, they pushed him into the warehouse where he is now hiding.

He didn't even get an ice cream cone himself, but he understood. Some of the underlings might betray him, so they had to make it seem like he hadn't been with these "heroes" from the start.

If anyone asks Sienna, she can claim that he escaped in the chaos, which is somewhat plausible... as long as you don't nitpick and don't delve into the crucial details.

"That's good." He said, running his hand through his hair. "I don't know if my luck will stay this good from now on."

Sienna nodded. "That's good. We'll take you home, don't worry. Then you can continue to reform and stay away from a life of crime."

He blinked. What was she saying? Then Sienna glanced deliberately at Charm Woman, as if to say, "This is for her."

He understood immediately. "Yes, that's right. It's about trying to be a good person, you know? Haha."

Charismatic Superwoman walked over, half her attention focused on the kids running around the warehouse like overly excited children who had eaten too much candy. She felt that they were indeed in that state.

As long as they don't start throwing things around, and someone keeps an eye on Sienna to prevent her from creating anything too dangerous, there shouldn't be any problems.

“We haven’t had a chance to get to know each other properly before,” said Glamour Woman. She extended her hand to him, and he hesitated for a moment before taking it and shaking her hand. “I’m Glamour Woman.”

“Uh, hello,” he said, forcing a smile. “I’m Aleya Iakta. Well, we’ve actually met once before.”

“Yes, I remember pursuing you,” she said. She tightened her grip and narrowed her eyes. “You caused quite a scene in the city center back then.”

"I have to defend myself, you know. I had just acquired a super cool new ability, so I had to try it out," he said, shrugging with the kind of helpless expression that says, "It's normal for boys to be naughty." "It was quite exciting at the time. But I can make sure I didn't hurt anyone."

"Hmm," Charming Superwoman responded. "So, you're planning to turn over a new leaf now?"

“Yeah, I’m definitely on the right path,” he grinned.

She didn't find his words funny at all.

"Look, having superpowers is pretty cool, but it hasn't made my life any easier."

Right now, I'm basically on the run from a group that I think might be a supervillainous organization, and the only one who can protect me is the 'boss'. I'm just an ordinary person who occasionally gets lucky.

I think it was this bit of luck that led me to the 'boss,' and from then on, things started... to get interesting.

Charismatic Superwoman sighed. "Yes, that's true."

Sienna nodded. "Alright, you two continue talking. I need to make a call or two. I think our car might be totaled, so... well, looks like we'll have to walk back."

"Aleya, we'll find a way to send you back, uh, to the base."

“Okay, okay,” he said, watching his “boss” walk away. She probably needed to check on her sisters too. “So, what’s it like being a big-name female superhero?”

Charismatic Superwoman snorted. He noticed that she was actually quite cute now, after all, she wasn't chasing him down the street and throwing explosives at his heels anymore.

“I’m not a big shot. The longer I’m in this industry, the more I realize that I’m just a nobody.”

"That's right. I used to think my superpowers were pretty amazing, but then I realized that they're not that incredible after all."

"Luck-related superpowers seem pretty strong," she said.

"Maybe it will be very strong in the future, but it feels pretty average right now." In fact, he gained a skill upgrade from this escape, but he wasn't sure how powerful the change would be.

Charismatic Superwoman nodded. "Yeah, I get it." She glanced at Sienna, who was wagging her finger at a group of scolded kids. "Some people are just really lucky, you know?"

He laughed. "Oh, please, don't look at her like that. I think she's the unluckiest person here."

“Really?” Charm Girl asked.

"Are you willing to take all the responsibility?" He waved in the general direction of Sienna's location.

Charming Superwoman thought for a moment, then frowned. "Okay, that makes sense. This is a huge responsibility, and it might not be easy from the start."

"Yeah. I don't think I'd like to deal with these things. But she's not that bad, except she's pretty scary."

"'The boss'?" Charismatic Superwoman asked.

"Oh, right. She has this... repressed madwoman vibe. It's like she could burn the whole city down if she ever had a bad day."

Charming Superwoman laughed, just a few soft laughs. "You seem to have a pretty high opinion of the hero who saved you."

Right, he reminded himself, Charm Girl doesn't know that Sienna is actually a major "villain" and has a nascent criminal empire.

"She's a nice person. She's just too driven, I think."

"Yeah, I felt that way too. I initially thought she was easy to bully, but I guess that was all an act, right?"

He nodded. That made sense. Sienna had been feigning shyness and anxiety, but in reality, she was a deeply hidden, ruthless killer.

This matched what he knew about the woman. "So, are you going to join her team too?"

“Me? Oh no, I won’t. This is just a one-off favor. She needed help, so I came. You know, I’m contracted with the Rapid Response Task Force (HRT).

"So what do you think?" he asked.

"It's alright. Most of the time they just want new heroes to go on patrol and make a show of themselves in front of the media. It doesn't really help them gain experience."

I feel like I've gained more experience tonight than I've accumulated since becoming a hero. If 'Boss' and her cronies keep doing this, it's no wonder they're so far ahead.

“Yeah, they’re pretty wild,” he said. “But it sounds like it’s much safer than doing what we do now.”

“Oh, that’s for sure,” she agreed. “I think I’ll keep a low profile for a while after this. But tonight was quite interesting. I’m so glad we were able to rescue you.”

“Me too,” he said. Then, though he didn’t think he was particularly lucky, he did something he wouldn’t normally do. “So… do you like coffee?”

She laughed again, then stared at him for a moment. "You know what, maybe I like it."

"Really? Because I know a great place..."
