Quick Transmigration: The Cannon Fodder Female Supporting Character's Revenge

Chapter 70 How to Win Over Your Husband's Nemesis (5)

The next second, she said, "It doesn't matter if she can't come. I don't need anyone to accompany me. Mr. Cheng, you don't need to laugh at me here. Hurry up and leave."

Qi Ning disliked him so much that Cheng Yin really wanted to leave; he wasn't usually the type to meddle in other people's business.

But seeing her forehead covered in cold sweat from the pain, looking like she was about to faint at any moment, Cheng Yin felt a little sorry for her, fearing that something might happen to Qi Ning if he left.

Moreover, Cheng Yin felt that most sick people are very vulnerable. Qi Ning might be telling him to leave, but she might not really want him to leave. She was probably just putting on a brave face.

He stood next to Qi Ning for a moment with his hands in his pockets, and said, "Although my relationship with your husband isn't great, we're still old classmates, so it's no big deal for me to look after him. However, if you really don't want me to stay, I can leave right away."

Sure enough, upon hearing this, Qi Ning's long eyelashes trembled, and she pursed her lips, seemingly wanting to say something, but said nothing and fell silent, not letting him leave any further.

Upon seeing this, Cheng Yin curled his lips, knowing that he had guessed correctly.

He quieted down for a while and stopped making any more sarcastic remarks.

Soon it was Qi Ning's turn to be called. She went in and was examined by the doctor, who asked her a few questions.

Cheng Yin overheard the conversation and heard that she hadn't been eating properly, which caused her stomach pain.

Fortunately, it wasn't too serious, and the doctor prescribed some medication for her.

After Qi Ning received the medicine, Cheng Yin went to get her a glass of water and handed it to her, saying, "Here you go."

Qi Ning looked up at him, silently said thank you, and then took the water from his hand and took her medicine.

Once she felt better, Cheng Yin, being a good Samaritan, took her home.

Cheng Yin had just taken her home last night, so this time he didn't even need to ask for her address.

Qi Ning's attitude towards him this time was completely different from last night; she thanked him properly.

She stood outside the car window, looking at Cheng Yin inside, and said earnestly, "Thank you for today, Cheng Yin."

Cheng Yin gave a faint "hmm," indicating that helping her today was indeed just a side benefit.

After dropping Qi Ning off at home, he drove away without saying anything more or lingering.

He had barely driven his car out of the villa area when Qin Feng called.

"Cheng Yin, where are you? Didn't you say you were going out for drinks?"

"Something came up temporarily, I'll be there soon."

Cheng Yin immediately drove to the bar where Qin Feng was.

When he arrived at the bar, he saw Qin Feng sitting alone in a booth waiting for him.

"You're all alone today. I thought you invited other people."

Cheng Yin sat down in the seat opposite Qin Feng.

After all, Qin Feng is a very shrewd and sociable person with a wide variety of friends. He can always invite several people over for drinks, and it is rare for him to meet with just one or two people.

"I drank too much at the banquet last night, so I can't invite too many people over today," Qin Feng explained, rubbing his nose.

This was obviously an excuse; he deliberately called Cheng Yin out alone today.

His wife Lin Jiamin's friend Wu Sina had just returned from abroad. Lin Jiamin, who loves playing matchmaker, couldn't wait to introduce Wu Sina to a boyfriend.

Among their friends, who are all around the same age and status, Cheng Yin is the most suitable person to match Wu Sina, and who is also single.

But their close friends know that Cheng Yin doesn't really like matchmaking or introductions. He used to get annoyed when it was mentioned too often, so Lin Jiamin sent Qin Feng over to sound him out and see if he was interested.

Qin Feng poured Cheng Yin a glass of wine and pushed it in front of him: "Where were you just now? You came so late. I thought you were going to stand me up."

"It's nothing." Cheng Yin raised his glass and clinked it against Qin Feng's. Remembering what had just happened, he said, "I was just helping someone out."

He spoke the second half of his sentence quickly and softly, and Qin Feng didn't hear it clearly.

"what?"

Cheng Yin shook his head slightly and offered no further explanation.

Since Cheng Yin was unwilling to say more, Qin Feng didn't ask any further questions, as he still had important matters on his mind.

After exchanging a few casual words, Qin Feng casually brought up the topic: "Jiamin went to pick up a friend who just returned from abroad today. She's from the Wu family, and her name is Wu Sina. Do you know her?"

The name sounded familiar, as if he had heard it somewhere before, but Cheng Yin couldn't quite place it.

Qin Feng added, "It's normal that you don't know him. He spends most of his time abroad and rarely comes back to China."

"Is that so?" Cheng Yin replied casually.

Qin Feng observed Cheng Yin's attitude and saw that she didn't seem to have any aversion. He continued, "She's about the same age as us, and like you, she's still single."

Cheng Yin felt that these words sounded very familiar. Just as he was about to think of where he had heard them before, he suddenly saw a figure walking in through the bar entrance.

Seeing that Cheng Yin didn't answer but didn't seem to mind, Qin Feng secretly thought to himself, "There's hope!"

He had no idea that Cheng Yin had suddenly quieted down because he had seen someone he knew.

Just as Qin Feng was about to continue speaking, he noticed that Cheng Yin was looking behind him.

He turned around and looked in that direction, where he saw that familiar figure.

"Zhaoting, over here." Qin Feng waved to Gu Zhaoting.

Gu Zhaoting heard Qin Feng's voice and came over after a while.

He was accompanied by a female companion who linked arms with him as they came together.

"Drinking here?" Gu Zhaoting asked Qin Feng and Cheng Yin.

"Yes, let's sit together," Qin Feng said warmly.

Gu Zhaoting hesitated for a second, then sat down, but said, "I have an appointment to discuss some business. I'll leave after sitting for a bit."

His female companion sat down next to him and thoughtfully poured him a drink.

Qin Feng seemed used to it and didn't pay any attention to the female companion beside him, remarking, "You're really busy."

Gu Zhaoting picked up his wine glass and took a sip: "I've only been busy these past few days."

As he spoke, he noticed out of the corner of his eye that Cheng Yin glanced at him a few times, and couldn't help but ask, "Why is Mr. Cheng looking at me like that?"

Cheng Yin swirled his wine glass, looking at the reddish-brown liquid inside, and said, "I just went to the hospital this morning and ran into Mrs. Gu. She seemed to be seeing a doctor alone at the hospital. Seeing Mr. Gu reminded me of her."

Gu Zhaoting was unaware that Qi Ning had gone to the hospital. He was taken aback when he heard Cheng Yin's words.

“Since she was able to go to the hospital by herself, there shouldn’t be any major problems. She didn’t mention it to me.”

Cheng Yin let out a sarcastic laugh.

"However, Mr. Cheng has been running into my wife quite often lately."

Gu Zhaoting recalled that Cheng Yin had told him last time that he had run into Qi Ning at some banquet.
