My Mythical Path to Immortality in Another World
Chapter 124 Sun Wukong's Version of the Heavenly Gods and Demons Formation
Under Zhao Xuan's subtle influence, Sun Wukong developed extraordinary strategic vision.
Even within the lineage of Sun Wukong himself, there is a tradition of cultivating strategic and tactical thinking.
In this situation, to control Sun Wukong, one must exploit information asymmetry to prevent him from leveraging the advantages of inheritance.
That's why the original plan of Buddhism included the entire Xuanmen (Taoist sect) acting alongside Sun Wukong.
However, with Zhao Xuan around, the spiritual particles in the world were constantly exchanging information, which Zhao Xuan collected and organized into complete information.
Some scattered information was absorbed by Sun Wukong, which also allowed him to learn many secrets of the prehistoric world.
This allowed Sun Wukong to develop extraordinary strategic thinking, enabling him to draw inferences from one instance to another and to see the big picture from small details.
With just a few clues, one can glean the whole picture and deduce the largely accurate truth.
Sun Wukong looked at Guanyin in front of him without saying a word.
Guanyin, however, bowed to Sun Wukong and said, "Greetings, Great Sage Equal to Heaven."
Sun Wukong merely glanced at Guanyin and said, "With such an aura of great compassion, the one who has come must be Guanyin Bodhisattva of Buddhism."
Guanyin and Guanshiyin are both the same person and not the same person. Guanshiyin means to listen to the voices of sentient beings and to relieve their suffering.
But the number of sentient beings in the world is so vast that Guanyin was reborn thirty-three times, cultivating thirty-three different forms of Guanyin.
The thirty-three incarnations are collectively known as Guanyin.
According to the ancient cultivation theory, Guanyin wanted to sever her good corpse, but her own cultivation was insufficient. Therefore, she spent thirty-three lifetimes cultivating thirty-three Guanyin Dharma bodies. The thirty-three Guanyin Dharma bodies eventually merged into one body, which is the body of Guanyin.
This body of Guanyin is the good corpse of Guanyin in the future. The reason why Guanyin is in charge of this journey to the West is to gather merit and fortune so that Guanyin's thirty-three bodies can merge and become the body of Guanyin, so as to sever the good corpse.
The reason why Buddhism has been able to prosper is because of its unique path of cultivating relics.
Countless practitioners inevitably fail to achieve perfect spiritual cultivation in one lifetime due to various reasons.
The Buddhist path of relic preservation involves condensing and preserving a practitioner's life's cultivation, supernatural powers, wisdom, memories, and so on into relics.
When one embarks on spiritual practice again in a future life, one can absorb the relics and directly inherit the spiritual practice from the previous life.
Through this accumulation of lifetimes, even those with weak foundations can eventually achieve something.
However, becoming a Great Luo Golden Immortal is not easy; it cannot be achieved through reincarnation and accumulation.
Therefore, Guanyin cultivated thirty-three Dharma bodies. It does not mean that Guanyin only cultivated thirty-three Dharma bodies; Guanyin has thousands of Dharma bodies.
However, only these thirty-three Guanyin avatars cultivated the same law, and all thirty-three avatars were at the Taiyi Golden Immortal level.
Back then, as long as the thirty-three Guanyin Dharma bodies were united, one could achieve the Guanyin Dharma body of the Great Luo Golden Immortal realm.
Guanyin was able to use her Guanyin Dharma body to sever the good corpse and achieve the status of a quasi-saint with two corpses.
Back then, when Guanyin's Dharma body went to the Buddha's Dharma assembly, as long as Guanyin's Dharma body entered Mount Ling, it could resonate with Guanyin's original form and completely merge with the thirty-three Guanyin Dharma bodies.
Just like in Journey to the West, Guanyin's Dharma body had to undergo many trials to reach Mount Ling. When she arrived at the foot of Mount Ling, she encountered a tiger giving birth. In order to help the tiger give birth, Guanyin missed the Dharma assembly, which meant that her spiritual cultivation was not yet complete.
Although Guanyin did not sever her benevolent body, she still received the title of Great Compassion and Mercy.
However, these words can sometimes sound unpleasant, especially when spoken by Sun Wukong in a slightly mocking tone.
However, given Guanyin's composure, she wouldn't react negatively. Instead, she spoke to Sun Wukong with a gentle smile, saying, "Great Sage Equal to Heaven, you have discerning eyes."
Sun Wukong ignored Guanyin, keeping his eyes closed as if he didn't want to communicate.
Guanyin asked, "Great Sage, your sentence has come. What are your plans?"
Sun Wukong remained silent.
Guanyin then said, "Our Buddhist sect has an opportunity that can help the Great Sage cultivate to the Great Luo body. Would the Great Sage be willing to cooperate?"
Sun Wukong opened his eyes, and two beams of golden light shot straight towards Guanyin from his eyes. The golden light materialized, just like two arrows.
Guanyin waved her hand, dispersing the golden light, and asked, "Great Sage, what is the meaning of this?"
"Great Luo? Haha, Venerable One, do you recognize what this is?"
Sun Wukong chuckled a few times, and a few willow leaves appeared in his hand.
"Throughout my cultivation, I have discovered a strange object sealed within my hundred orifices. Venerable One, can you identify what this object is?"
Guanyin's expression changed slightly as she looked at the willow leaf in Sun Wukong's hand.
Back then, he had calculated that the willow leaf could seal Sun Wukong's hundred orifices, but the heavenly secrets showed that the willow leaf had already been refined.
The willow leaf is not a magical treasure, but rather a branch from a hollow willow tree, a naturally occurring spiritual plant.
Therefore, it is considered a rare and precious material, and it will be absorbed after being refined.
However, the willow leaf in Sun Wukong's hand was a real willow leaf, and it was a leaf that grew from the willow branch in his hand.
After all, the willow branch in his hand has been nourished by the Three Lights Divine Water for many years. In addition, in order to sever the connection with his original body, he asked Laozi to refine it in the Eight Trigrams Furnace, burning away all its life force. The willow branch is now reborn with the Three Lights Divine Water.
The Daoist principles have already undergone fundamental changes, and the original hollow willow tree has long since disappeared, so this is indeed his own willow leaf.
Therefore, the willow leaves that were injected into Sun Wukong's hundred orifices were actually transformed into several streams of extremely pure spiritual energy.
Once the spiritual energy is refined, it naturally becomes Sun Wukong's magical power, leaving no trace of his physical body.
Guanyin immediately sensed the terror in the situation; there must be a powerful being plotting against her, or even against the entire Buddhist community.
Guanyin looked at the willow leaf in Sun Wukong's hand and immediately released a burst of magic power to snatch it. Afterward, she would go to Mount Ling and have Tathagata use the aura within to deduce who had made the move.
With a flick of his wrist, Sun Wukong dispersed Guanyin's magical power, and then his aura surged, soaring into the sky with the aura of a Great Luo Golden Immortal.
Sun Wukong kept his aura hidden, so the Heavenly Dao did not discover that Sun Wukong had already achieved the Great Luo Golden Immortal status, and therefore the tribulation of the Great Luo Golden Immortal did not descend.
So the sky above Turtle Mountain suddenly began to change, with endless clouds gathering above the mountain.
Without the protection of the magical tortoise shell, Guishan was instantly reduced to ashes under Sun Wukong's overwhelming power.
Tang Xuanzang was almost killed by Sun Wukong's aura while in Turtle Mountain. If it weren't for the intervention of the Five Directions Protector who took Tang Xuanzang away, he would have been dead.
However, just as the Five Directions Protectors were about to flee, a golden staff descended from the sky like a pillar of heaven, landing on the original location of Turtle Mountain. Countless golden chains emerged from the pillar, covering an area of tens of thousands of miles.
Sun Wukong's five hundred years of seclusion were not in vain. His cultivation and supernatural abilities basically did not require him to cultivate; Zhao Xuan directly converted them into instincts.
However, Sun Wukong's great interest in formations was likely influenced by Zhao Xuan.
Zhao Xuan also secretly gave Sun Wukong the information on the Twelve Yuan Chen Grand Array of the Heavenly Court of the Immortal Realm, the Twelve Yuan Chen Grand Array of the Chan Sect collected in the Primordial World, and the Twelve Capital Heavenly Gods and Demons Grand Array for him to study.
After being sealed away for five hundred years, Sun Wukong comprehended his own Twelve Heavenly Gods and Demons Formation.
This Twelve Heavenly Gods and Demons Formation is also a very unique formation in the prehistoric world.
All celestial formations have a base, which is a structure that gathers the various powers of heaven and earth.
Then there's the array's core, which is the object that controls the array.
Finally, there is the array gate, which is the entrance and exit point of the array.
The base of the array is usually a powerful spiritual plant or a powerful spiritual treasure, while the core of the array is usually a spiritual plant or a spiritual treasure of a lower level, or it is directly filled by a person.
The array gate is something that the array itself evolves from.
In addition to gathering various forces from heaven and earth, the array base also serves to filter and isolate alien auras.
For example, the Immortal Slaughtering Sword Formation and the Twelve Heavenly Gods and Demons Formation are both killing formations that gather the evil energy and killing power between heaven and earth.
However, malevolent energy and killing power are harmful to cultivators, so they need to be filtered by external objects, and at the same time, the malevolent energy and killing power in the world are purified into a more powerful force.
Normally, the base and core of a formation are located within the formation itself, but the Twelve Heavenly Gods and Demons Formation is quite special.
The core of the Twelve Heavenly Gods and Demons Formation is naturally the Twelve Ancestral Witches, but the foundation of the formation is Mount Buzhou.
Through a special intuition, the Twelve Ancestral Witches made the entire Buzhou Mountain a tool for gathering and purifying malevolent energy and killing power. The power purified from Buzhou Mountain's status was unparalleled.
The bodies of the Twelve Ancestral Witches are comparable to top-grade spiritual treasures, which is just right for them to control this power.
In general, the spiritual treasures or plants in the center of the formation also serve to control the power and prevent harm to the person who set up the formation.
However, the Twelve Ancestral Witches do not need spiritual treasures or plants to control their power. They directly mobilize their power, making it more flexible and the power of the formation unmatched.
However, because Buzhou Mountain was broken by Gonggong, the Twelve Heavenly Gods and Demons Formation never existed again in the prehistoric world.
Sun Wukong gradually discovered the power of the Ruyi Jingu Bang (Golden Cudgel), and coupled with his identity as the one destined to face the great calamity, he comprehended how to use the Ruyi Jingu Bang as the core of a formation to gather the power of heaven and earth to form a power called Gengjin Shensha (Geng Metal Divine Fiend).
The reason why the Twelve Capital Gods and Demons Formation is called the Twelve Capital Gods and Demons Formation is because it can gather the power of twelve different gods and demons.
Like the Human Immortal Realm, the power in the Primordial World is also layered, but unlike the Human Immortal Realm, the power is not integrated internally and externally; instead, it is divided into internal force and external force.
The Human-Immortal Realm is a world where essence is the primary element, and all kinds of powers rely on it, thus achieving unity between the internal and external.
However, the primordial world is different. The primordial world is a world dominated by Qi, so each cultivator can only master one kind of Qi, which is their own magical power.
Of course, at a higher level, triggering the blessings of the Heavenly Dao Laws and allowing one's magical power to evolve into endless attributes is another matter entirely.
But ultimately, it depends on your level of mastery to control the corresponding level of power.
Unlike the human realm, where cultivators can transcend several realms and master advanced powers.
Therefore, in the realm of immortals and humans, formations are like chargers, used to replenish the magical power consumed by cultivators.
However, in the primordial world, formations are used to enhance the level of power.
The power formations of the primordial world are divided into five levels: Dao level, Heaven level, Earth level, Profound level, and Desolate level.
The Desolate-level formation corresponds to those below the Human Immortal Realm, the Profound-level to those below the Golden Immortal Realm, the Earth-level to those below the Great Luo Golden Immortal Realm, the Heaven-level to those below the Saint Realm, and the Dao-level to the Saint Realm.
In other words, a Dao-level formation can pose a threat to a Saint.
The four great formations of the Primordial Era—the Twelve Heavenly Gods and Demons Formation, the Immortal Slaughtering Formation, the Zhou Tian Star Formation, and the Yin-Yang Micro Dust Formation—are all Dao-level formations.
The River Luo Grand Formation, Mountain and River Grand Formation, Ten Thousand Immortals Formation, Nine-Bend Yellow River Grand Formation, and Bodhi Grand Formation are all Heaven-level formations.
For example, the Ten Deadly Formations is a level-one formation.
The level of a formation refers to its upper limit, not its lower limit.
Therefore, even those at a lower level can comprehend high-level formations, but how much of the formation's power they can unleash is another matter entirely.
Different levels of formations can gather different levels of malevolent energy; Dao-level formations gather divine malevolent energy.
This God is not a God of a certain realm or position, but the God who existed in the beginning, the God who was one with the Word.
In other words, the divine evil spirits are the killing intent generated by the Dao.
It is equivalent to the strangulation of a certain order or the erasure at the level of laws.
For example, the Geng Metal Divine Influence is the annihilating power of the Geng Metal Law.
Sun Wukong sent out eleven clones, and together with his original self, twelve figures stood in different locations.
The Ruyi Jingu Bang emitted countless rays of light, which were absorbed by the twelve figures.
When the light disappeared, Sun Wukong's figure also vanished.
A figure appeared in the sky with a human face and a tiger's body, covered in golden scales, with wings growing from its shoulders, a snake piercing its left ear, and riding two dragons.
The figure called out, "Guanyin, I respectfully address you as Venerable One because you have shown great compassion and relieved the suffering of all beings."
But you shouldn't have been scheming against someone since the day I was born.
Do you think that I was unaware of the things you kept from me back then?
Or do you think that I cannot perceive those Jieti who are always around me?
I would not normally bother with you.
But you shouldn't think I'm stupid.
"I was a Great Luo Golden Immortal two hundred years ago. Today, I will use the Great Luo Tribulation to kill you and see what your Buddhist sect can do to me!"
Guanyin looked at the dense clouds of tribulation covering the sky and was immediately moved by the power of Buddhism.
However, the more troublesome thing is that Dharma body in the sky.
Guanyin cultivated during the Lich War and once saw a figure in the sky wreaking havoc during the Lich War.
That figure was none other than Ru Shou, the Golden Ancestral Witch among the Twelve Ancestral Witches.
Guanyin knew that Sun Wukong was skilled in formations, and so did the Buddhist community.
Therefore, Buddha took action and used a large amount of rare and precious materials to refine the Formation-Breaking Pearl.
Of course, it wasn't just one array-breaking bead that was refined, but dozens.
Even the Golden Ring, the Golden Ring, and the Three Forbidden Rings were reforged in order to seal Sun Wukong's array techniques.
However, these array-breaking beads can only break arrays below the Earth level.
The higher the level of the formation, the more stable its structure, and the less effective the formation-breaking bead becomes.
With Guanyin's discerning eye, she could immediately tell that the formation set up by Sun Wukong was the Twelve Heavenly Gods and Demons Formation.
They knew that since the collapse of Buzhou Mountain, no one had been able to set up this formation, but they never expected that Sun Wukong's mastery of formations was so high that he was able to comprehend such a formation.
They even used formations to conjure the image of the Ancestral Witch.
