My Mythical Path to Immortality in Another World

Chapter 119 Primordial Fruit Positions and Calculations within Buddhism

So he was very happy to put on the ochre-yellow robe.

After he had put on the ochre-yellow robe, the One-Horned Demon King asked again, "Does Your Majesty have an honorific title?"

Sun Wukong thought for a moment. Using the title "Handsome Monkey King" now seemed a bit stingy. His eyes lit up and he said, "No, I don't need to trouble you two. Since you've given me the ochre-yellow robe, how about you give me an honorific title?"

The two one-horned demon kings exchanged a glance, and one of them said, "Your Majesty's divine might is equal to that of the heavens. How about we call you the Great Sage Equal to Heaven?"

After hearing this, Sun Wukong softly uttered "Great Sage Equal to Heaven" twice.

Then he said, "Very well, from now on I will be the Great Sage Equal to Heaven." He then instructed his four generals, Ma, Liu, Beng, and Ba, "Set up a banner with the four characters 'Great Sage Equal to Heaven' written on it, and hang it on a pole. From now on, you shall only call me the Great Sage Equal to Heaven, and you shall not call me King anymore. You may also inform all the demon kings of the caves."

Then came another round of fine wine and a lavish feast, which lasted until late into the night.

While the Heavenly Court was in an uproar, Zhao Xuan was making a fortune.

Sun Wukong fought a battle against 100,000 heavenly soldiers and generals, and was awarded the title of Great Sage Equal to Heaven. Zhao Xuan's mythological laws grew to 90% purple level.

Of course, the two one-horned demon kings were controlled by Zhao Xuan. Without the Heavenly Court first bestowing upon him the title of Bi Ma Wen, many things might change. Therefore, Zhao Xuan controlled the one-horned demon kings himself and, taking advantage of Sun Wukong's victory over the heavenly soldiers and generals, directly bestowed upon Sun Wukong the title of Great Sage Equal to Heaven.

The human and immortal realms exchanged a great deal of information without the knowledge of the Lord of Yin and Yang, so the two worlds are highly similar in some aspects.

True name, reputation, and fortune—these are connections that exist in the immortal realm, and they also exist in the primordial world.

In addition to one's true name in the primordial world, there exists an honorific title, which is equivalent to a second true name.

"Great Sage Equal to Heaven" is an honorific title, which is obviously easier to spread than the real name "Sun Wukong," gaining the attention of the masses and thus being recognized by them, attracting good fortune.

A title carries great fortune but also great karmic consequences. If one cannot live up to the title, one will be in a situation where one's virtue does not match one's position.

True name, honorific title, and rank all serve to gather and attract good fortune.

For example, the Jade Emperor's real name is Zhang Bairen, and his honorific title is "Haotian Jinque Wushang Zhizun Ziran Miaoyou Miluo Zhizhen Yuhuang Shangdi". He is also known as "Taishang Kaitian Zhifu Yuli Hanzhen Tidao Haotian Yuhuang Shangdi", "Yuhuang Datianzun", "Gaoshang Yuhuang", "Gaotian Shangsheng Daci Renzhe Yuhuang Datianzun Xuanqiong Gaoshangdi", "Xuanqiong Gaoshangdi", etc. His fruit position is the Heavenly Emperor.

The honorific title is both a continuation of the true name and an explanation or supplement to the attainment of a certain status.

Sometimes, honorific titles can serve as substitutes for actual rank or status.

Although the primordial world only has three thousand fruit positions representing three thousand Great Dao Laws, it does not mean that there are only three thousand fruit positions.

The primordial world is also a world nurtured by the Three Powers (Heaven, Earth, and Man), and the three thousand positions of the Three Thousand Great Laws represent Heaven.

There are also three thousand sacred positions representing the people of the earth.

The Fruit Position, also known as the Innate Undying Spiritual Light, is contained within the Three Thousand Laws of the Primordial World.

The fruits of the earth are hidden within innate spiritual roots; for example, the peach tree and the ginseng fruit tree are two of the ten great spiritual roots of the primordial world.

Therefore, peaches and ginseng fruits can temporarily replace the function of fruit positions and postpone the rewards of the Three Calamities.

The true potential of a person lies within the innate spiritual treasure.

However, unlike the Heavenly Fruit Position, the condensation of innate spiritual roots and innate spiritual treasures requires a large amount of spiritual energy, and the primordial world only had a large amount of spiritual energy in the early stages of the primordial world.

All the positions were formed in the early stages of the primordial world.

However, those who attain the Heavenly Realm can conceal themselves using the laws of the Great Dao, while those who attain the Earthly Realm and the Human Realm cannot.

It was divided up by powerful figures from the very beginning.

This is why, even though many powerful beings possess the ability to transform Mount Sumeru into a mustard seed, they rarely carry precious treasures such as innate spiritual roots or innate spiritual treasures with them.

Innate spiritual treasures and innate spiritual roots are used to suppress the fortune of a cave dwelling. These powerful beings have incarnations with official titles, but their disciples do not. Therefore, innate spiritual treasures and innate spiritual roots will not easily leave the cave dwelling.

This is why, during the tribulations of Journey to the West, when some of the celestial mounts that caused Sun Wukong trouble descended to the mortal realm to cause chaos, the celestials used the excuse that their treasures had been stolen while they were away, leaving Sun Wukong speechless.

It's quite normal for powerful beings to be accused of stealing treasure by their own people.

Even in the primordial world, there is a saying about summoning spiritual treasures.

This means that there is a special place in the cave to store spiritual treasures. Normally, these spiritual treasures are enshrined, and they are only used when needed.

This is also the origin of the saying about the restrictions on innate spiritual treasures. Gaining the recognition of the innate undying spiritual light within an innate spiritual treasure is a gradual process. Only by gaining the absolute recognition of an innate spiritual treasure can one control it at will.

During the Investiture of the Gods, after Yin Hong and Yin Jiao received the magical treasure bestowed upon them by their master, they turned against their master. These people were helpless and could only ask for outside help to retrieve the magical treasure.

In Journey to the West, no matter what kind of magical treasures a mount steals, its master only needs to call out, and these people will have no power to resist, even if they have magical treasures in their possession.

However, the Dragon-Han Initial Tribulation and the Lich Tribulation affected far too many levels, and many innate spiritual treasures and roots were destroyed during the tribulations.

Although the spiritual treasure and spiritual root were destroyed, the innate, indestructible spiritual light will not dissipate.

Therefore, sometimes honorific titles are used to attract innate, undying spiritual light.

After all, they have only gone through three tribulations, and only 334 Heavenly Fruits have been bestowed upon them, with the Seven Sages occupying 316 of them.

Leaving aside the Heavenly Court, even within Buddhism, the five Great Luo level attainments are equivalent to seventy-five other attainments.

Adding them together, they exceed the total number of people who have attained the Heavenly Fruit position.

That's because the seven saints' positions are not all heavenly positions, but also earthly and human positions.

This refers to the so-called "slaying the three corpses" by relying on innate spiritual roots or innate spiritual treasures.

Zhao Xuan had communicated with Taiqing and knew about the turning point in Sun Wukong's destiny, which was something he had to go through.

Among them are obtaining the name of the Great Sage Equaling Heaven and causing havoc in the Heavenly Palace.

The Buddhist sect intends to mold Sun Wukong into a protector of the sect, so the higher his cultivation level, the better.

Therefore, from the very beginning, Buddhism had prepared a rank for Sun Wukong after the Great Luo Golden Immortal, one of which was the Great Luo Golden Immortal rank within the body of the Six-Eared Macaque.

Secondly, there is the rank of Fighting Saint Buddha, which is also a rank of Great Luo Golden Immortal.

However, the minimum requirement is that three Great Luo Golden Immortal level positions are combined to form one Heavenly Dao Saint level position.

Apart from Hongjun Daozu, the other seven saints, although they all practiced the method of severing the three corpses to attain enlightenment, were all saints of merit.

Because the six saints only have the cultivation level of severing two corpses, which is the minimum requirement for a low-level Heavenly Dao saint.

There are no extra attainments in Buddhism. After all, Buddhism is said to have three thousand Buddhas, but there are only a few dozen attainments.

However, Buddhism is not without innate spiritual treasures and innate spiritual roots. For example, the position of the Fighting Saint Buddha was condensed by Buddhism using an innate, indestructible spiritual light.

However, the first immeasurable calamity is a calamity of the Heavenly Dao, so one's cultivation level must not reach the level of a Great Luo Golden Immortal, and one must have a Heavenly Fruit position as a foundation, as well as many other restrictions.

Those that do not meet the requirements are those who cannot transform the innate immortal spiritual light within innate spiritual treasures and innate spiritual roots into fruition positions.

Therefore, Buddhism required Sun Wukong to obtain the title of Great Sage Equaling Heaven and wreak havoc in the Heavenly Palace. Only in this way could he gain the recognition of the innate, indestructible spiritual light within the position of Victorious Fighting Buddha.

Meanwhile, the five Buddhist figures—Buddha, Guanyin, Laozi, and the Jade Emperor—were discussing Sun Wukong in the Tushita Palace.

The Buddha first said, "Amitabha," and then asked Laozi what skills he had taught Sun Wukong, how he could set up such a powerful formation, and how his own combat power was far beyond what someone who had cultivated for less than a hundred years could master.

Laozi leisurely waved his banana leaf fan, refining elixirs while paying no attention to the Buddha.

The Buddha was immediately angered and said: "The rise of Buddhism depends on Wukong. This is the decree left by the Daoist Ancestor. Only in this way can the influence of the Investiture of the Gods be completely eliminated."

Weakening the Great Tribulation by dividing it up is a test of the Great Tribulation by the Dao Ancestor. If the Dao Ancestor's plan is wrong, everyone will suffer the consequences.

Laozi sighed. "You can't hide the matter of the good corpse from me. If there is a mistake, it is not the evil corpse's fault, but your own. When Sun Wukong was born, he should have transformed into his acquired body, but because of a mistake made by Buddhism, Sun Wukong's innate body did not turn out the wrong way."

Although Guanyin later sealed all the orifices with willow leaves, Sun Wukong's original nature was not lost, but it did not manifest when he was learning his skills.

The Zhenhai Divine Iron is a treasure of merit and spiritual value, although it is acquired. However, merit is a mysterious and unpredictable thing, and it is very likely that it helped Sun Wukong break the seal on his origin, allowing him to obtain his own inheritance.

After hearing this, Buddha glanced at Guanyin Bodhisattva, who immediately began to calculate. Then, with an ugly expression, she said to Buddha: the willow leaf she had left inside Sun Wukong's body had been refined.

Upon hearing this, Buddha's expression turned even more unpleasant.

Upon hearing this, the Jade Emperor immediately said: "What else is there to say now? It is indeed a problem with Buddhism. As for the reason for Sun Wukong's improvement in his realm, we have also found it."

The willow branch is a branch of an innate spiritual root. After being nourished by the Three Lights Divine Water for so many years, even a single leaf is extraordinary. If it weren't for the willow leaf sealing it, even Sun Wukong wouldn't have reached this level of cultivation in a hundred years under normal circumstances.

Instead, it resulted in the capture of hundreds of heavenly generals, who hope that Buddhism will give them an explanation.

The Buddha was furious, glaring at the Jade Emperor with rage. The Jade Emperor, however, remained seated with his eyes downcast, paying no heed to the Buddha's gaze.

Seeing that the Jade Emperor and Laozi ignored him, Buddha said: Buddhism can take another step back. Sun Wukong must wreak havoc in the Heavenly Palace, but the Heavenly Court can suppress him on its own.

Then, with a flick of his sleeve, he transformed into a golden light and returned to Mount Ling.

After seeing this, Guanyin bowed and said goodbye, then transformed into a golden light and disappeared.

After the two left, the Jade Emperor bowed to Laozi and said: "Brother, because of the matter of teaching, Tathagata has lost his Daoist heart. Aren't you afraid that something might happen?"

Laozi said calmly: "If there is any problem, I will take responsibility. Even with Tathagata's current power, I can't do anything to him."

The Jade Emperor nodded, looking at Laozi's nonchalant attitude, he seemed to want to say something, but said nothing more, and then took his leave.

The meteor-like Laozi stood alone, carrying the Eight Trigrams Furnace, his eyes deep and lost in thought.

While Zhao Xuan was still watching Sun Wukong's antics at Flower Fruit Mountain, he received a message from the Buddhist sect, instructing him to keep a close eye on Sun Wukong's movements and report any unusual activity immediately.

Furthermore, he was told that Sun Wukong would be invited to the Heavenly Court, where he would steal peaches of immortality and elixirs, and that he should seize the opportunity to steal the peaches and elixirs to aid his cultivation while Sun Wukong was off guard.

Zhao Xuan was initially confused when he received the message from the Buddhist sect, but he soon learned the whole story.

The reason why the Buddha was invited to be the person in charge of Buddhism in such a great flourishing event was not because the Buddha is the current Buddha of the Central Government, but because of the Buddha's relationship with Taiqing, which could bring the greatest benefits to Buddhism.

Although the true form of the Buddhist saint is not in the primordial world, his three avatars are present and will certainly take charge himself.

Everyone believes that the Buddha was transformed from Duobao Daoren, the chief disciple of the Jie Sect during the Investiture of the Gods, but this is actually wrong.

Taiqing wished to carry out the same educational work as Hongjun Daozu, so the first good deed was to have Bodhi Daoist, who was well-versed in the true meaning of all schools of thought.

The reason for choosing a Buddhist name like Bodhi Daoren is that Buddhism did not exist when Taiqing cut off the good deeds.

Hongjun, the Dao Ancestor, not only expounded on the Three Thousand Great Daos, but also on the Eight Hundred Side Paths.

Unorthodox practices require enlightenment and understanding of one's true nature, which places high demands on one's original mind. Therefore, Bodhi Daoist actually meant that Taiqing not only wanted to teach the Great Dao, but also to teach unorthodox practices.

The evil corpse is none other than Laozi (Taishang Laojun). Don't be fooled by Laozi's compassionate appearance; remember that Heaven created all things to nourish humanity, yet humanity has nothing to repay Heaven with.

Laozi was skilled at refining elixirs, and isn't refining elixirs essentially seizing the power of heaven and earth? Therefore, Laozi was actually the evil corpse of Taiqing.

However, the unorthodox teachings were intercepted by Jieyin and Zhunti, causing dissatisfaction with the teachings of Taiqing.

Over time, this led to an obsession, which was only severed after he became a saint—this obsession was severed by the Buddha.

After Taiqing severed his obsession, it was after the Investiture of the Gods war, when the Buddhist sect, which was then the Western Sect, betrayed the Xuan sect and became the Buddha.

Since they were from the same sect, even if Jieyin and Zhunti had taken credit for the teachings of the unorthodox sect, Taiqing couldn't say anything. After all, as the senior disciple of the Xuanmen sect, he should be magnanimous.

After the Western Sect betrayed Taoism and embraced Buddhism, Taiqing no longer held back. He directly used the connection between the chief disciple of the Jie Sect and Buddhism to pull off a substitution, replacing Duobao Daoren with his own obsessive corpse, thus becoming a member of Buddhism.

Furthermore, it divided Buddhism into Mahayana Buddhism and Theravada Buddhism.

Upon seeing this, Jieyin and Zhunti realized that it was not the method of a quasi-saint. Therefore, through various means, they learned that Tathagata was the corpse of Taiqing Zhinian, and what a clever scheme of substitution.

They devised a clever plan, directly abandoning Theravada Buddhism and merging it into Mahayana Buddhism. They also used the Taiqing layout to create a three-horizontal-three-vertical Buddhist system, which not only preserved the Buddhist faith but also strengthened Buddhism several times over.
