In a way, Cuiling's family is quite lucky.

That day they transferred to a domestic flight in Cairo. It was an old plane with a propeller engine and only about twenty seats.

Cui Ling and her family had never been on such a small plane before. The interior decoration was also very simple, like a bus.

Attorney Lang accidentally saw a nameplate and discovered it was in Russian. This little plane might be a relic from the Soviet era.

Cui Ling hugged Dou Dou tightly in her arms, a little nervously. "Brother Lang, this plane is so small. Won't it be very bumpy? What, don't you have any bigger planes to choose from?"

DouDou was quite bold, her eyes wide open as she quietly observed her surroundings.

"They say this route is used by these small planes, and they've been operating for many years, so it's still very safe," Lang Mingxi reassured him. "We're not far from our destination yet; we'll be there soon."

So, the plane wasn't actually experiencing any turbulence, but suddenly the engine started emitting black smoke and stopped. Fortunately, the pilot was a decorated Soviet pilot in his fifties, who successfully made an emergency landing in a grove of trees near the river.

The black pilot stepped out of the plane with a big smile on his face, and the pale-faced passengers on board clapped and cheered, overjoyed at surviving such a disaster.

While clapping, Cui Ling said to Lang Ge, "When the plane malfunctioned just now, the flight attendant told us not to worry and said that the pilot was a meritorious Soviet pilot. I didn't believe it, but I didn't expect that the Soviet Union really had black pilots."

“It’s not surprising. The Soviet Union had a very large sphere of influence back then, and they even had colonies in Africa. It’s normal for them to train local pilots.” Lang hugged the mother and daughter. “Luckily, the plane didn’t fly very high just now; it was just hovering around the treetops. Let’s get out of the cabin first.”

The crew members, the black man and the beautiful black flight attendant, tried to open the cabin door, but it was a bit stuck. Lang went over and called to several young and strong passengers in the cabin to help. Together, they pried the door open, allowing the passengers to safely exit the plane.

Cui Ling and the others took all their luggage with them, but after discussing it, they decided to give up most of their clothes and suitcases, only taking their documents, wallets, food, tools, and necessary warm clothing.

Cuiling tightened her and her daughter's wrists and ankles with straps; preventing insects from crawling into their clothes was crucial for walking in the jungle. Fortunately, their clothing was specifically designed for expeditions and was from a renowned sportswear brand's African adventure collection.

Lang Mingxi followed her example, sealing off any gaps between her hands and feet, and putting on gloves and a hat to prevent being harmed by jungle creatures.

The pilot identified the direction and called them to go to the riverbank, because it was generally safer to light a fire on the riverbank to call for help, and it was also easier to be spotted.

Half of the passengers on the plane were locals, and the other half were tourists. Apart from their family, all the tourists were white.

The tourists had differing opinions; some wanted to stay next to the plane and wait for rescue, while others wanted to rely on their own strength to get out of the jungle. One of the passengers, a local, said he was a government worker who knew the nearby roads and could find villages and tribes in the jungle; whoever went with him could receive rescue sooner.

The pilot ignored everything, packed his luggage, and left with the flight attendant.

Cui Ling and her family also quickly followed, carrying their simple luggage.

Cui Ling and the others naturally followed the pilots and flight attendants. They were locals and seemed to be quite shrewd, so it was better to follow them.

The people following the crew formed a serpentine line in the jungle.

The area is truly densely forested and overgrown with grass, making the path difficult to traverse. Even though it's clear there's a river and riverbank nearby, people unfamiliar with the area simply can't find their way to the river.

It seemed like they walked for a few minutes, or maybe more than an hour, before they finally saw a small river.

The crew prepared to light a fire and then waited for passing planes to spot them.

Lang Mingxi and Lin Cuiling looked at each other and asked the pilot how long it would take for them to be rescued, based on his experience.

The pilot said helplessly that it could take anywhere from a week to a month, depending on when the search and rescue team arranged by their company could find them.

However, as long as they keep burning campfires during the day to produce thick smoke, they can get people to find them faster.

Judging from the pilot's appearance, this person was already preparing to set up camp on the spot and lay down. He even suggested that they also set up a shelter as soon as possible.

"If you have a satellite phone, you can contact your family to organize a rescue, which will be much faster."

"Satellite phone?" Cui Ling suddenly had an idea. She said to Lang Mingxi, "That's right, our cell phones seem to have a satellite phone function. Let's take them out and try them out."

"I just tried, there's no signal." Lang Mingxi took out his phone.
