Chapter 239 Going to School 4

Xiaomeng arrived at a private restaurant located in a traditional alleyway in her own car.

This place isn't well-known to the public, so it doesn't seem very lively.

The alley was spotless and quiet, with hardly anyone around, except for a few foreign tourists who had wandered in by mistake. Xiaomeng looked up and could vaguely see the bustling night market outside the entrance at the other end of the alley.

Hey, that's just how strange it is, the contrast between the inside and outside is so stark.

Xiaomeng got out of the car and led Sister Zhang leisurely towards the small building of the private restaurant.

"Hey, the atmosphere in this alley is amazing! It's like stepping back into the Republic of China era. People in Shanghai really know how to create a good atmosphere." Xiao Meng enjoyed the moment of tranquility, and even gave a friendly smile to a group of tourists as they passed by.

The foreigners seemed quite surprised, staring at her with wide eyes.

Sister Zhang followed closely behind the boss, taking a step back to avoid the tourists' intense gaze.

She knew what was going on. Miss Lin, dressed in a modernly tailored, modified cheongsam, looked stunning and created a wonderful atmosphere in this quaint alleyway. The tourists were all secretly taking out their phones to try and take pictures. Since they were almost at the private restaurant, she decided not to go up and negotiate; she could just keep a distance.

Xiaomeng knocked on the brass ring on the door, and the brass-edged wooden door opened from the inside. The two were ushered into the small building by a hostess dressed in a bright red cheongsam.

Today is the birthday of Xiaomeng's roommate, surnamed Cha, and she specially invited her roommates to have dinner together.

Yes, Xiaomeng does have a dormitory at school, with three roommates. However, they all coincidentally chose not to live in the dormitory and instead bought houses around the school.

Apart from the few days of military training at the beginning of the semester when we were forced to stay in the dormitory, no one has returned to the dormitory since, and of course, no deep feelings have been developed.

Xiaomeng also found it a bit strange, wondering why her roommate suddenly thought of inviting her to a birthday party.

As soon as Xiaomeng stepped into the small building, she knew it was a place similar to a renovated courtyard house club. The decoration was exquisitely refined, understated yet elegant, typical of a wealthy family's private banquet venue.

Inside the private room, Cha's parents, brother, and sister-in-law were all there. Her elders warmly greeted Cha and her instructor.

Xiaomeng glanced at her two other roommates; they all exchanged brief, unfamiliar smiles. She was actually a bit closer to her advisor, having asked for leave from him a few times, so she took the initiative to sit next to him.

After everyone sat down to chat, Xiaomeng realized that the Cha family had come to help their daughter make friends and build connections.

They said that after a long period of school, their daughters hadn't made any friends at school because they didn't know how to socialize. These parents were worried that their daughters might have done something wrong and been isolated.

The instructor quickly came out to explain the situation, saying that there would never be such a thing as isolating a student in their college.

The reason why the girls in this dormitory don't interact much is entirely because they all have many social activities to participate in and their own study habits, so they don't have much contact with each other.

If you wish to participate in more school activities, there are many activities that connect you with other colleges.

The Cha family's parents seemed to understand, and throughout the meal they kept asking what private social activities the girls were going to participate in.

Xiaomeng felt that the Cha family parents were being a bit too nosy, and she didn't want to explain herself to outsiders. Fortunately, she had a well-known identity: an athlete.

"Me? I usually have a lot of horse racing competitions and performances, so I either fly to Hong Kong or Beijing. I also need to train daily to maintain my fitness. I also need to take extra lessons, so I'm often not at school."

The instructor looked at Xiaomeng with concern, "Yes, Miss Lin's daily training is still very important..."

My other two roommates said, "I often have to go to the family's board meetings to observe and learn," and "I'm busy attending the family's matchmaking events."

After a brief discussion, everyone confirmed that Cha hadn't experienced any isolation or discrimination at school; they were simply too busy to deal with her. After a quick dinner, Xiaomeng and her two other roommates said goodbye.

After Cha's roommates left the private room, taking their assistants and attendants with them, only Cha's family and their class advisor remained in the room.

"My goodness, my sister's roommate has such a strong presence! Not only does she speak in a very sophisticated way, but she also goes out with several assistants. They all seem like adults. It makes our sister look like a child." Sister-in-law Cha looked a little surprised.

“My little sister is still a child; she’s only eighteen,” the older brother said nonchalantly. “It’s because her roommates are too mature. Do their families run big businesses? How come they act like this?”

“It’s true that Cha’s roommates all come from relatively well-off families. Our initial idea was that having roommates from similar backgrounds would reduce the likelihood of friction in their daily lives. We just didn’t expect that the entire dorm would own properties off-campus, and none of them would actually live in the dorm,” the instructor explained.

Mr. Cha said, "It's good that my younger sister can interact with more mature classmates. She needs to learn how to interact with friends in her circle. It's just a pity that none of her roommates live in the dormitory. With such good roommates, she could have learned a lot from living with them for four years. It's a shame."

Cha's mother said, "Then why don't we ask the teacher to change my little sister's dormitory?"

The father added, "What help can the classmates who stay in the dormitory every day be to my younger sister's future? Well, it depends on my younger sister. Little sister, do you want to change dorms and have some better roommates to talk to?"

Cha pouted, "I don't want to change. Anyway, I'm not used to living in the school dormitory. I want to live in my own house."

"Alright then, I'll listen to my little sister. It's fine. Anyway, I'll study for three years in China and then go abroad for a master's degree. I can build connections then." The older brother said nonchalantly.

Xiao Meng left the private restaurant and got into her car. She had only gone halfway when she received a phone call and asked Master Bi to take her to the other side of the city.
